Our tour guide, Marco, was the absolute best guide EVER!!!!! He engaged our entire group and was so excited to share all of his knowledge about the Colosseum! At the end of the tour, he even gave us advice where to go to get the best pizza and gelato which we did experience!! Marco get a 12 out of 10!!!!!!

Our experience with the Ultimate Rome: Colosseum, Vatican Museums & Walking Tour was absolutely outstanding and worth every minute. From start to finish, the day was incredibly well organized, which made seeing so many iconic sites in one day feel seamless rather than rushed. Our guide, Maria, was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about Rome’s history. She brought each location to life with stories and context you simply wouldn’t get exploring on your own. Skipping the long lines at both the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums was a huge advantage and saved us hours. Walking through the Colosseum and Roman Forum while hearing the history unfold in real time was unforgettable. The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel were just as impressive, and having Maria explain the significance behind what we were seeing made the experience so much more meaningful. The walking portions were well paced, with just enough breaks to recharge while still covering an incredible amount of ground. Despite it being a full day, it never felt overwhelming thanks to the thoughtful planning. If you’re visiting Rome and want to maximize your time while truly understanding what you’re seeing, this tour is a fantastic choice. Our guide Gurban is so knowledgeable about the history, architecture and archaeology of the area. He gave so much history. As an archaeology student he is amazing telling all the stories about each place we visited in Rome. I'd highly recommend this tour. Catalina was a great guide, she had lots of great knowledge about the artworks themselves and lots of context for the surrounding area, history, etc. She did a good job keeping everybody engaged and gave us plenty of opportunity to ask questions and take photos or take a brief pause.

Dan walking tour was great!!!

Dan was a wonderful tour guy. We went above and beyond what I expected in this 2 hour walking tour. He told us how to avoid lines in Italy, and took us to the tomb of the Apostle Saint Philip which has his feet visible to the public in a glass case. The area had also the femur of Saint James (not showed thankfully). The place is called the Basilica dei Santi Apostoli. What I found interesting is that people makes a line in that basilica to take a picture in front of a mirror that points to the ceiling and there is no line to see the tomb of the apostles. Looks like for them is more important to take a selfie of them and the ceiling, instead of being in front of the feet of Saint Philip. Maybe they are unaware that the feet of Saint Philip is there. Dan also took us to the Capella Della Madonna del’Archetto, smallest church in Rome, it only had seats for like 10 people, and is only open for 1 hour a day and Dan was so kind to take us there during the only hour it was open. Again, no lines to enter the smallest church, Dan told us people pass by and doesn’t even realize what that place is. Great experience with Dan as our tour guide.

We booked a private tour with our family of 14. Sharon not only showed us the classic sights such as Piazza Nova, the Spanish Staird, the Trevi Fountain etc. but also shared lots of interesting insights with is. We had an absolutely charming, entertaining and informative tour with her. We can’t recommend her highly enough and hope everyone enjoys the tour as much as we did.

Do it!

Very informative! Our guide Christina is an archeologist by profession and has worked at Pompei excavating. She is extremely knowledgeable as a historian and was totally geeking out in all of the best ways possible. She was extremely enthusiastic and informative giving us information on even the smallest details. I have done this tour 3x in my life and she taught me things I’ve never learned. We spent 2 hours in the Colosseum alone and she took us to areas where we could get the best pictures. Overall well worth the tour if you have any interest in seeing the Colosseum arena level, upper areas as well as the surrounding Ancient Rome. My son and I unfortunately cut our tour short because we had a plane to catch but don’t hesitate to book this!

Great Tour with Sam!

The reviews that this is technically a free tour is accurate, but I think booking through Viator gives the guides a good idea of scheduling. Worth the booking in my opinion. We checked in with the guide, and once we were all there we were off on our tour. Sam was our guide during the tour and he was great! I am a huge history nerd and learned so much about the Jewish Ghetto during the tour! I loved it! Please remember to tip during the tour since the guides rely on the tips!
