Tony was amazing! He picked us up directly from our hotel and dropped us off there again. He was so knowledgeable on the ride to the separate locations and was an excellent tour guide once there. He answered all and any questions we had ranging from Pompeii to generalized Italy questions. He also helped us get tickets for my Vesuvius when I was unable to on the website. Absolutely book this tour without hesitation - worth every penny! We had the absolute privilege to have Daniela as our guide and cannot imagine how we would have gotten anything nearly as special out of a larger group tour. Beyond the dedicated attention of a private guide, it was the attention that Danela brought to small details that we certainly would have otherwise missed that made this an even more powerful experience. This tour was awesome. Our driver was Gianluca and he made the whole trip. He was so nice and helpful. He was domaines things during the drive. We got to see the Amalfi coast and then Pompeii. He also hooked us up with a tour guide in Pompeii who was amazing. He was so funny, knowledgeable and took us to places away from the crowds. He also took pics of our group along the way. This was the best tour of our trip. Highly recommended. The downside was I did not get my Viator rewards with this booking. Although this had nothing to do with Gianluca or the Pompeii guide.

Excellent tour! Our group was a bit worn out after touring Herculaneum earlier that day, so we asked Eliana if we could condense our Pompeii visit to 90 minutes. Not only was she flexible, but she also saved the day when I realized I only had a voucher instead of actual tickets. She graciously helped us navigate the ticket office (pro tip: buy directly from the official Pompeii site!) despite the time crunch. Eliana quickly pivoted and curated a 'greatest hits' route that covered every major area. We were especially in awe of the new house and bakery her team is currently excavating—truly fabulous stuff! She is personable, incredibly knowledgeable, and answered every question we had. Highly recommend!

Eliana and Pompei- perfect bucket list experience

Ever wait your whole life to see something, only to fear the experience won't live up to the hype? For me, that was Pompeii. I'd been waiting since grade school to walk those streets. I'd hyped myself with visions of ornate beauty. But that was tempered by the math. Pompeii at its peak was home to nearly 20,000 people. Today, with huge portions of the city still unexcavated, there are typically that many tourists or more all jostling to see the same things. I braced for the worst. Thankfully, my wife hired Eliana Sandretti as our guide. Confident, easy going, and carrying more knowledge than any one person should reasonably possess, she managed to make it feel like we nearly had the city to ourselves. She steered us through the ruins and around the tourist chokepoints without ever making us feel rushed or stalled. The tour moved at our pace. She took time early on to understand what mattered to us, then built the experience around that. Her eye for detail — sharpened through years as a working archaeologist — consistently surfaced things we would have walked right past. Even more compelling were the stories she told about the people: how they lived, and how they died. By the end, you'll find yourself glancing uneasily at Mt. Vesuvius, quietly hoping today isn't the day it decides to finish the job.

This tour with Romolo was truly incredible, and without a doubt, the absolute highlight of our time in Pompeii! If you’re visiting Pompeii and have the chance to tour with him, take it. No hesitation. Romolo was exceptional. His knowledge is deep and fascinating, but what really makes him stand out is how he brings everything to life. You’re not just walking through ruins, you’re stepping into stories, history, and moments that suddenly feel real and vivid. His energy is contagious, and he has an incredible way with people, especially kids. Keeping children engaged in Pompeii is no easy task, yet he had them completely hooked the entire time. They were curious, excited, and fully immersed from start to finish. Out of everything we experienced on this trip, this was the tour we’ll be talking about for years.
