Coffee knowledge
Val was a fantastic host, the whole family really enjoyed the experience. One out of the four of us is not a coffee lover at all, however even he loved the coffee and the experience! We would highly recommend doing this workshop whilst in Hanoi, we know you won't regret it. Val is full of coffee knowledge and made the experience enjoyable.

Great experience
We took an authentic Vietnamese cooking class at Hoàng Restaurant in Hanoi. Our menu was fresh green mango salad with shrimp; Hanoi style fresh spring rolls; and stir fried chicken with peppers, lemon grass and chopped cashew nuts. It was delicious - we are great chefs (lol) thanks to Dragon our master chef and Daisy our instructional hostess. We had lots of laughs, at our own expense, and fun. Some of our julienne cut veggies weren’t julienne cut (Daisy called them fat ladies) 😁🤪

Easy option to get from airport to hotel after a long flight
It was very easy to schedule this transportation, communicate with the driver and locate him after picking up our luggage at baggage claim. When our flight was delayed by 3 hours due to a mechanical issue, the driver was still there and ready to drive us when we arrived.

Well organized and authentic cooking class. Highly recommended.
Really well organized cooking class. We went to the market where our chef/guide explained what she was looking for and why, and also how the farmers bring their meat to market each day. We cooked 5 traditional dishes and had so much to eat at the end that we all rolled out. I think this is the best class I have ever done.

Fantastic experience
I am a bit late with my review.I was in Hanoi in january and the coffee making workshop was fantastic! Not only did we learn how to make the coffees, but we also learnt a lot about the coffee culture in vietnam, saw a short video, were given timeline and also ethical backgrounds.
I booked the experience with a vietnamese dinner which was absolutely outstanding (they are offering cooking classes, too)!!!

Fabulous tour
Minh was a wonderful host and full of helpful tips and information about where and how to eat.
The food we ate was superb and delicious and the whole experience was very light hearted and fun. Would recommend to anyone.
Only thing that could have been better was he promised to send further information regarding Hanoi to all guests but we never received the information. Small gripe but was expected.
Loved this tour.

My guide Thomson was...
My guide Thomson was excellent in every way and he gave me the adventure of a lifetime. I shall never forget it. I was the only one doing the tour today (my good fortune) so agreed to do the tour on the back of his motorbike! Normally it would have been a walking tour with others in the group. We explored the alley ways of the old city quarter, first stopping at Train street for tea/coffee. That experience itself was mind blowing exciting. To sit 6 inches away beside the tracks of a passing train as it whistled past; the adrenaline rush was indescribable. Next we stopped at two alleyway spots for delicious street food, sitting alongside local Vietnamese folk. I chose to leave out the third stop for Pho (wouldn’t have had room) and had dessert instead, yummy fried banana and coconut donut. This turned out to be an independent private tour with just me, so we were able to cover a lot more area around Hanoi driving past all the major landmarks, the French Quarter, lake, etc. The circumstances surrounding my experience today may not be replicated entirely because it was outside of the norm, but I would recommend Thomson as a guide. He is courteous, obliging, friendly and knowledgeable about Vietnam history and its people.

Well worth it!
Bella combined exceptional knowledge of Vietnamese coffee production and history with a fun, patient teaching style that made the whole experience so engaging. The actual coffee making was so much fun, and the results were delicious. Definitely a highlight of our time in Hanoi.

Beware of Scammers, prebook a driver
Be aware of scammers trying to get you to go with them. I arrived at Hanoi Airport alone and there were many Vietnamese holding signs for visitors. I was told that the driver would be waiting outside, so when I went outside I was greeted by a well presented Vietnamese who took my suitcase and asked me to hurry. I asked him how he knew who I was, but he just kept telling me to hurry. Thinking he was illegally parked, I hurried after him. Unsure of who he was, 3 times I asked him what hotel I was going to but he never answered me. He insisted that I buy a SIM card, to which I replied I didn’t want one. After he kept insisting that I buy a SIM card, I said that he wasn’t my driver and that I had already booked. With that he ran off. I finally found my driver holding my name. He got me safely to my hotel. Pays to book ahead and ensure you only go with the driver holding a sign with your name.

Vietnamese Cooking
The cooking class was a fun, hands-on experience. Chef was an excellent teacher who demonstrated patience and humor. All recipes were provided at the end of the session. At the end of class, we consumed four dishes that we had helped prepare. We have a new appreciation for how many spices and flavorings go into the preparation of each dish.
