The artistry was beautiful and the performers were really top-notch. However, the low price-tag of this show attracted the basest, most disreputable tourists you can imagine. Laughing and talking throughout the show, getting up and leaving, showing disrespect to the culture and performance. Shame on you. My colleagues and I found the music lovely and the puppets fun. I would recommend this to a friend if you could screen the audience members.
Scam - tickets can be bought at venue much cheaper and with little to no que. When we turned up, our tickets hadn't been arranged and despite buying the VIP skip the que ticket, ironically ended up being the only ones stuck outside waiting. Ended up being given someone elses tickets sat in a different place in the theatre to where bought. No audio guide provided, which was essential to understand what was going on. The show itself was good.
A very nice experience beautifully performed puppet show. It is a must see while in Ha Noi.
Though we could not follow the story line completely,the pamphlet explained it,which we read later.

The show itself when using the additionally paid for ear audio translators was great.
But when paying extra for a VIP described service, definitely dont expect to be sitting 4th row behind heaps of people and queuing and waiting without instructions or info on how to enter the show etc.

Easy to follow the story line but can get the head phones if you want to.
What a fantastic exposure to folk music and puppetry! Just wish with the $16 ticket we would have gotten a program and possibly offered the headphones for translations. But overall without these we got the story as we have been in country for many weeks now. The views are a bit blocked by tall people in front of you, but we made do. No worried if you are in the A row not seeing the activity on the water. Definitely a must do recommendation while in Hanoi!
I thoroughly enjoyed the puppet theatre performance and learning about the history behind how it began. It is a wonderful tradition and a source of real pride for the traditional rice farming communities.
Viator doesn’t make the tickets available through the app. Luckily someone who worked at the theater figured out who we were. Activity was very enjoyable but lack of physical proof of payment was a bit stressful.

It was an okay show, was fun to watch. We paid for VIP tickets but couldn’t really tell what that meant because we went inside the same time as the rest of the guests.

The staff member was waiting at the entrance with paper tickets. But had no "Viator" sign, so I just had to show my digital viator ticket and ask someone who worked there where they were. I purchased the most expensive tickets and had really great seats. Worth it. Audio headset might be worth it too.
It was an interesting show. It's all in Korean. The closer to the front, the better view. The theater was nice and cool. It is an older style theater. The shows do sell out on Saturdays.
We paid the VIP ticket price, 27 Euros, with "skip the lane" - we had to queue, it is not possible to skip the lane since you have to claim your tickets at the office - normal price is 4-7 Euros, with 7 Euros for the VIP tickets, so we paid double the price, to be seated in the row E (last row of VIP Section) and many people arriving after us, who only paid 4 Euros to be seated in the first row. Book tickets in advance but at the theatre.
The show was very captivating and i left there with a big smile on my face. Rhe theater was very well airconditioned too, so a great activity on a hot day.
We had a great time at the Water Puppet Show in Hanoi. It was easy to follow even though it was all in Vietnamese. Amazing how much humor and emotion can be expressed by wooden puppets splashing in the water. There were nine musicians with traditional instruments and 3 singers. Amazing show.

It is colorful and great music. The skill of the puppeteers is brilliant. We made the mistake of not taking the English audio support - without that your understanding will be limited as it is in Vietnamese.
Get the vip to skip the long line. 100% worth it. Very popular show apparently. Entrance was super packed going into the street.

When we got to theatre the guy tried to say the show was sold out and tried to take extra money for next show lol

Booked this show last minute and we were not disappointed. Ticket collection went very smoothly and viator had their local employee meet us. Very popular show so avoid disappointment by booking ahead. The show was beautifully presented and extremely professional al.

Highly recommended for tourists to experience local culture
There is no need to book through viator, the queue to books tickets is tiny, the show was half the price of what viator is charging. The show itself was good, I wish they had rules for theatre etiquette because many rude entitled tourists do not know how to sit nicely, not talk (or shout) and not film with flash (or film in general). They were distracting.
This was a very mediocre experience. I liked seeing the way that Vietnam used to put on shows in the rice paddies, but it simply just wasn't that good. It was unique and different, but the theater was uncomfortable, the singing was only fine and the puppet dancing was narrated in Vietnamese without any translation options.
This tour is for you only if you really want to immerse in a culturally-rich, historical Vietnamese experience that belongs in a museum.
The show was great. Getting the ticket from the vendor was sketchy and chaotic at best. We got ticket finally 2 minutes before show
People can see once water papid show. But I have a panic attacks in public places, if too many people in small area. There was not enough air and too many people was in small area. Rows are long and difficult to go in out.
My place was in middle of in the row. It was hard to enjoy the show.
Unique, I have never seen anything like this. Very talented cast with beautiful detailed props. Comfortable seats and good crowd mevement.
