Up the Mekong
This was even better than I expected! The tour allocates seating at table and I had very interesting fellow travellers, along with the rest of the passengers. Well organised and helpful crew. Interesting visits arranged to Karen and Hmong villages plus Buddhist caves etc. Excellent views from the boat. The day was scheduled so that you could relax but also time never dragged. Initial booking was helpful and efficient. Recommended hotel was great.

Don't miss the aims !
We went on the tour with our guide Mr. Boun. He is not only very charismatic, smart and kind, but actually also a former monk, which really elevated the experience to a whole new level. DO NOT SKIP the aims ceremony (followed by the morning market tour and a climb to Phousi Hill), as these are the best parts of the tour !

We booked the half day...
We booked the half day Khuangsi Waterfalls trip. Going to the falls in the morning was great, as it wasn't crowded. Also, the road to the falls is in pretty bad shape (as of February 2026)--rutted and dusty. Being in an air-conditioned van was very pleasant, and alone worth the cost of the trip. But on top of the comfortable ride, our guide Pany was terrific. He took us on a lesser-used trail to the top of the falls. He knew the best viewpoints and took plenty of pictures for us. We had plenty of time to climb up to The View and go through the bear rescue. We also stopped at the Hmong village. Overall, a great morning.

Great Value Comprehensive Day
The guides are awesome and you really couldn’t ask for a more comprehensive experience of the big sites surrounding Luang Prabang. You get a generous two hours at the falls, which I used to climb to the top and take a dip-highly recommend! Then there’s a lunch at an elephant camp, at which point you have the option of a slow boat to the Pak Ou caves or kayak-I did the kayak, which was beautiful. And then after all that, you get a sunset cruise. Amazing value for the money. Absolutely do it if you can.

History + Variety of food
We had a great time on our tour with Som. He was very knowledgeable and shared a ton of history about Luang Prabang, as well as giving insight into local culture. We really enjoyed all of the foods we tried, and got to try a ton of food that we likely wouldn’t have tried if not for this tour. Thanks Som!

Must do in Luang Prabang
This was an amazing experience. The farm is beautiful, nestled against the mountain. You learn all about organic rice farming and get to participate. Johnny, our guide was very knowledgeable and told us family stories. Planting, harvesting and cooking rice is a long process - most which I had no idea about before today. I highly recommend this tour!

Super Tuk Tuk Tour
Our guide, Tony, was super. Took us through the various shopping and food areas of the night market. Tasted many good and interesting local foods. Then we settled down for delicious Laos hot-pot cooked over charcoal. Tony was very interesting and open to discussing Laos culture and traditions.

Worth a confirmed ride to the waterfalls.
Having a confirmed ride to the waterfalls was a good idea. There were cars at the site but knowing that we had a confirmed ride for almost the same price helped make our trip relaxing. It was a long way so taking a tuk tuk would not have been a good idea as some online suggested.
Our guide also know of a couple places to stop along the way that made our trip more fun than a Grab ride. The buffalo ice cream stop was super fun on the way back.
