Our driver Hassan was very prompt. He reached out day before to make sure our scheduled needs are known and was there on time. Though we had custom requirement to drop off at shin-fuji station, they were able to accommodate (though little extra charge, which is 100% justified) He took us round the mount Fuji all important spots that we can cover with in given time frame. Because of him, we were able to reach early and see the clear mount Fuji before clouds started to cover the peak. Overall we really enjoyed the service. 200% recommended.

We loved that we could customize our trip. We ended up hiking up a trail to see Mount Fuji without being surrounded by so many tourists. Our driver Rana dropped us off at the trail head and was waiting for us upon our return 3 hours later. Hiking was not part of the suggested itinerary yet he accommodated us. Great day and perfect views of Mt. Fuji all along the trail.

Our driver contacted us a day in advance, and we set a meeting time. The driver was on time, picking us up promptly from Mishima Station, and we headed toward Mount Fuji. That day was perfect—Mount Fuji was completely visible without clouds. We visited the Chureito Pagoda 5-Storied Shrine (🌸), where our guide told us about the breathtaking view. We spent about 1.5 hours there, climbing 400 steps to witness an indescribable panorama: cherry blossoms (🌸) with snow-capped Mount Fuji—truly worth 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Afterward, we stopped by Honcho Street, which also offered a great Mount Fuji view, where we took some photos. Our guide, Rana, then took us to Oshino Hakkai Village (🏡)—a stunning traditional village with old houses (🏠), water ponds (🐟), and a gorgeous Mount Fuji backdrop. Rana even clicked some amazing photos for us! Next, we headed toward Hakone, where we visited Lake Ashi. We bought a cable car ticket—despite the crowd, the cable car experience was fantastic! We reached Owakudani Valley, 1044 meters high, but the wind was strong, so we didn’t stay long as it was getting late. Still, the views were amazing. Rana picked us up and drove us back to our hotel in Hakone—such a lovely place. Overall, this tour is worth 10 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It’s highly recommended, and Rana’s service was exceptional. I wanted to take a moment to share our wonderful experience with our guide, Rana, who provided us with exceptional service. We began our tour early at 6 a.m., which helped us avoid traffic and reach our destinations smoothly. Our first stop was a delightful breakfast break at a charming location. After that, we visited the Five-Storied Shrine, where we climbed 400 steps—despite the cloudy, rainy weather that prevented us from seeing Mount Fuji. We thoroughly enjoyed all the unique places we visited. Next, we went to Oshino Hakkai Village, a traditional Japanese village with deep ponds, a souvenir shop, and old houses—perfect for the backdrop. Then, we visited the famous Kitaguchi Shrine with its iconic torii gates. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious meal at a ramen restaurant. Finally, we relaxed by Lake Kawaguchi in Kōshi Park, where we savored some ice cream. We managed everything perfectly on time and had an amazing day. We highly recommend Rana—he is extremely knowledgeable, and the entire tour was flexible and well-paced. Thank you so much!

Itinerary is way overstated - there is zero chance of finishing everything on the list, if there are any sort of crowds around (there will be.) Our driver did a great job navigating and maximizing our day, but a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see even half of the itinerary.

Not a great experience with this tour. Usually Viator has very good people working for them, but I don’t think these guys live up to their standards. We will be placing a formal complaint. Upon reviewing everyone else’s reviews, I was shocked about the thread of the same story these guys tell people. It usually starts off with the guy saying that there’s gonna be a lot of traffic, that they have to be there super early. Then they show up late. Exactly what happens to us. We did not go to all the spots listed on this tour. And at the very end, they were trying to charge us more money for supposed extra time, that was their fault for showing up late. They also made my friends feel a little bit threatened and we did not like that experience at all. I don’t think anyone should be booking with this company. Our tour guides were Prince and Hasan. I see there’s some nicer reviews for some other guy named Rana- however you don’t really get to pick.

Best experience to Mount Fuji visit

Our tour guide’s name was Rana, and he suggested starting the tour early in the morning. We began at 6:30 AM, which turned out to be great because we avoided traffic and reached our first destination smoothly. Our first stop was the Mount Fuji Fifth Station, located at 2,300 meters above sea level. From there, we enjoyed stunning views of Mount Fuji, and it’s also a starting point for hiking. We even saw snow at the Fifth Station, and we had a wonderful time. It was quite cold, so visitors should definitely come prepared with gloves and warm clothing. There was also a Shinto shrine at the Fifth Station, and our guide took some great photos for us, which we really appreciated. After that, we headed down to our second stop, the Chureito Pagoda, a five-story shrine. To reach it, we climbed about 400 steps, and from there, we got another amazing view of Mount Fuji. It was truly spectacular. Our third destination was Oshino Hakkai, a traditional Japanese village. There, we found beautiful ponds, spring water from Mount Fuji, old houses, souvenir shops, and food markets. We enjoyed all of it, and our guide, Rana, took some great photos there as well. We even got to drink the spring water, which was fascinating and delightful. After that, we decided to head to Hakone. There, we visited Lake Ashi and took a cable car ride up to the Owakudani Valley, where we saw sulfur gases rising from the mountain. We also tried the famous black eggs, which was a unique experience. The cable car ride was fantastic, and we had an amazing day overall. Rana is extremely knowledgeable about all of Japan—whether it’s Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Nikko, or Nagano, he can guide you anywhere. We highly recommend this company and this tour guide. Our day was truly wonderful, and if there were a ten-star rating, we would definitely give it ten stars. Thank you so much!

Our driver/guide Hassan deserves six stars! Our day was absolutely fantastic from our hotel pickup until our hotel drop off. Hassan is very friendly and personable as well as being an excellent driver and photographer! We were able to see everything we wanted to on this tour following Hassan’s advice. The restaurant he took us to had excellent food and service. All in all we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Anyone taking this tour would not regret requesting Hassan as their driver/guide.

The driver texted day before to change our scheduled pick up time from 9am to 6:30am( “beat the traffic “). 7:05 am no show, called service who in turn asked me for their drivers phone number (really) to find out why no show. Any way had to cancel and at short notice make alternate arrangements. Avoid if can afford and do it through hotel if able to afford it. Maybe a little more but worth the peace of mind and reliability. Do not use this service.

We have a large group of 11 as we planned a day trip to Hakone and Mt. Fuji. We were fortunate enough to have Hassan and Prince take great care of us. They were friendly, professional, and on time. Prince was an excellent tour guide. He knew so much of the history at all the stops we made. Hassan got us around town efficiently and where to park to get us close to all the best sightseeing spots. My family had a wonderful time. Thanks for making it so special. We will never forget this trip. Thank you so much. You guys are the best.

The drivers were punctual and the vehicles were clean, which made for a comfortable and smooth experience. We visited all the places listed in our itinerary, plus an additional stop, which was a pleasant bonus. However, one aspect of the tour raised serious concerns. An extra person joined us who openly stated he was not affiliated with the company and was only brought along by a friend to “help out” as a tour guide. This individual shared inconsistent stories about his background—claiming at one point to be from South Africa with over 22 years of experience as a guide, which later changed to 15 years. Based on his fluent conversations with the drivers, who were Pakistani, and the way he communicated, my guess is that he was actually from Pakistan as well. He offered very little insight into the places we visited, instead focusing on personal anecdotes and excessive flattery directed toward our family. While his presence might have been well-intentioned, allowing an unofficial and unverified person to join the tour—especially with several children in the group—felt unsafe and unprofessional. Toward the end, he began sharing personal hardships and comments about how little the drivers were paid, none of which we asked for. Despite my advice not to give too much, my parents were moved by his story and gave him a $300 tip. Overall, while the official service was solid, the presence of this unofficial “guide” significantly detracted from our trust and comfort with the tour. I would urge the company to be more cautious about who they allow to accompany their guests.

Horrible Tour to Mt. Fuji/ Hakone

This tour was a complete failure. The tour stated it was a guided tour to Mt. Fuji/Hakone and it was NOT. We were taken by a driver (not a guide) who had zero knowledge of the Japanese culture or and history whatsoever about where we were going and the meaning/significance of anything we saw. My family and I learned nothing. This was absolutely Viator’s responsibility to provide us and we lost a full day in Tokyo and lot of money. I have been using Viator for years in many destinations and have never experienced anything like this before. The driver was just sent by his boss to take us there so I blame him, his boss and Viator for all of this. Dissatisfied to another level I never knew existed.

Horrifying experience with Nihon Horizon Tour

The most disappointing and frustrating experience ever… - we booked and paid 80,000 yen for two in a private tour - we asked for English speaking tour. Our tour guide barely speaks English - our pick up time was changed numerous times and was two hours earlier than scheduled (we were informed 7am the same day of the trip) - instead of a minivan which was committed on the itinerary we got a Toyota Prius - our “tour guide” had limited to none knowledge about each site we visited and basically left us wandering around each spot the whole tour. - when asked why some of the scenic spots were not covered the response from the company was “they are too crowded so we had to skip”. - we ended up running 3 hours late (with 2 spots on the itinerary not visited) and missed our dinner commitment that evening. In summary, a complete disaster. Unless you are looking for a nightmare with your vacation do not use this travel agent.

Experience with Rana as Our Guide

Our experience with Rana was disappointing and not what we expected, especially given the company’s strong reputation. Rather than a knowledgeable tour guide, we had a driver who simply transported us between locations with minimal engagement. Rana did not guide us through any of the experiences. He stayed in the car while dropping us off at each location, which was not what we had hoped for. Even my 6-year-old remarked, “The guide doesn’t get out of the car and show us around like the man that did our tour in Tokyo yesterday. How are we supposed to know what we’re looking at?” The previous day, we had a fantastic experience with a guide who walked with us, answered questions, and made the tour engaging and educational. This was, unfortunately, a very different experience. During the entire tour, the only time Rana joined us was when we stopped for coffee at Starbucks. We bought him a coffee, and while he was kind and polite, he did not provide the guidance we were expecting. There was no effort to share insights about the sites, create a memorable experience, or even meet the minimum standard of a guided tour. Instead, we were left Googling to learn about the places we visited. This is not the experience we were promised. While I understand that every guide has a different style, I would have appreciated even a minimal level of engagement—walking with us briefly, providing a high-level overview of the locations, and say “If you have any questions, let me know; otherwise, I’ll wait in the car.” I would have been ok with that…. Unfortunately, this basic level of service was not provided. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I truly believe the company can improve by ensuring that guides meet a baseline standard of engagement. I’m confident that with some adjustments, future customers can have a much better experience. Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback.

Rana was our driver. He got us there and back safely but he was hardly a “tour guide”. Other than driving us to our destinations, there was no guiding us through the experiences or teaching us details of each location. He would just let us off and have our group do our own thing. It would have been nice for him to take us through each experience while offering what he knows about each place. It made taking family group pictures also difficult. The 5th station was closed so that was out of his control, but his substitution was to go to a lake and take a speedboat on the freezing cold waters! We declined that experience and continued onwards the day. We all felt that our driver, Rana, rushed us through each location we stopped at. If you are looking for a “guide”, you are better booking another experience.

Our driver was Adeel - he has been doing these trips for years and really knows the sights l. We discussed what we wanted from the trip and Adeel flexed the itinerary to suit our requirements. Of course you are at the mercy of the weather but we were lucky and got some great views of Fuji. The World Heritage village and ponds are really worth a visit. It is a long day but the van was very comfortable.

I booked a Toyota Hiace, and was picked up in an old Nissan van with dents and plastic peeling from the front visors. I booked this tour for Hakone mainly, and all the other sites looked too good to be true to fit in one day. That's because it is too good to be true. You cannot fit all these stops in one day from Tokyo. The driver said we "probably" couldn't fit everything into the day we booked. After only spending a little time on Mt. Fuji, I told the driver we could skip everything else and just see Hakone and the village. He told me we only had time for one. Their description of what the tour entails is a con. We arrived at Hakone, and he only wanted to have us go on the gondola. If you plan on going to Hakone, you should definitely drive the 2 or 3 extra km to get to the top with everything and a gift shop. We only had about 20 minutes at Hakone; and only spent an hour and 15 minutes on Mt. Fuji. Definitely not worth booking through this company. Avoid at all costs and book with another company if you can cancel!!!!
