We had a wonderful day exploring the beautiful Nikko. Our guide, Shan Juttt, was extremely helpful, communicated well, and held a good amount of knowledge and was both patient and managed to keep everything on time so that we didn't miss anything. A trip I would definitely recommend.

Not a Reputable Tour Company

The sites visited would have been very nice if it wasn't for the rain - which can't be helped. Our issue was with the tour company. The tour was booked 8 months in advance with pick up and drop off details supplied with the booking. I heard nothing from the tour company so presumed all was well. The day before the tour I received a message asking for pick up and drop off details again I supplied them. I received a message back requesting an extra $400 for the extra fuel and toll charges. This was very stressful, as no time left to make other arrangements or to get confirmation of a full refund. Agreed to pay the extra, a link was sent to pay in US $ which again I queried as I paid in Aus $, a new link was sent for the extra charge of $400Aus. Which really makes you think. We also didn't realise how far Nikko was from the cruise port - 7 hrs driving and less than an hour sightseeing!!! Why wasn't I informed at time of booking that this tour wasn't practical and offered an alternative. The vehicle sent was serviceable but had been damaged. The "guide" didn't come with us or explain the sites. Obviously just contracted to do the tour at the last minute.

Fun filled family day to Nikko

Shan arrived ahead of time at the hotel, warmly greeted us and briefly explained our trip. Throughout the day , he was alert, took us to all attractions and drove us back safely. We always felt safe and secure. As a family, we enjoyed every attraction and spent adequate time feeling the past glory. A very memorable trip.

Bad experience with Viator.

The most memorable part was the guide provided by Viator was not a licensed guide. He didn’t go with us to the attractions. He only took us there to tour by ourselves. We were not told or being explained the significance of the the place. We’d be better off just take a train or bus to go there by ourselves. We’ll never use Viator again.

Our driver was great, but it was not a tour. We were taken to three sights in Nikko, and the driver did a great job, but we were expecting a guide to explain what we were seeing. We didn't get that. We paid a lot for a driver. I contacted the company and they said how knowledgeable our driver was. Maybe so, but he didn't share the knowledge with us.

The temple complex in Nikko itself was beautiful. Lake Chuzenji has a nice little hike you can do, but not much to do other than look at the view of the lake. The trip was convenient having a driver from Tokyo, but the driver didn’t really act as a tour guide at all. Which is fine, just not what we expected based on the advertisement. It at least would have been helpful if he’d had some recommendations on lunch restaurants.

Thanks for your review. We have mentioned in our Advertisements that our driver is in person guide & he have 7 years experience in this field. Our driver guide told us he asked you which restaurant you want to go GUSTO CAFE RESTAURANT OR JAPANESE both are side to side restaurants then you prefer to go on Japanese restaurant and you had Lunch over there. Our driver guide are very professional and polite & he bring you all the places of Nikko Tour & you safely drop back to your hotel. Anyway we don’t now what was your expectation but sorry if we not meet your expectations. Thank you so much for using our service.

Our trip to Nikko was wonderful! Our tour guide Ali was super sweet and took everywhere we wanted to go. The car was clean and comfortable and Ali was a good driver. We had a great time.

It was an amazing trip to Nikko! Ali did a great job showing us around. He made sure the long trip has coffee and snack stops. Enough bathroom stops. Recommend local good restaurant to eat. Took fantastic pictures of our family. Highly recommend....
