Best tour ever!! We loved that it was just our group so the guide made it very personal. We didn’t rush through anything and in fact, learned so much more than we would have anticipated. We even had a little adventure that was so much fun in order to see the inverted tower. So AWESOME!!!

The tour was great and Raul was very knowledgeable about, Cabo do Roca, Cascais and Sintra and all the castles we ventured to. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because at the end of the tour he asked for $75 euros for travel expenses that was not listed in the aviator description, discussed beforehand on WhatsApp when we were organizing the trip or even as we began our trip that morning. We offered to take the train to Sintra and he declined and said he’d pick us up but never mentioned any travel fees at that point either. It really soured the end of the trip as he kept us as he searched through his phone to try to tell us he mentioned it (which his own research confirmed he didn’t) or show us that it’s listed in the TripAdvisor listing (which was irrelevant because we booked via Viator where there was no mention of additional fees).
It really was a great tour, just make sure to ask if there are any additional travel expenses for your pick up and drop off locations relative to the places you will tour.

Thank you for your review, however I consider your description about the transfers to be incorrect, since on the viator website it is stated that each transfer from Lisbon to Sintra or return and from Cascais to Lisbon has an additional cost of €35 per transfer.
The total to pay would be €70 and not €75 as you mentioned.
Furthermore, I sent you a message via WhatsApp confirming the extra price to be paid at the end of the tour.
Even we have spoken about, here on Viator, and you can confirm that on changed messages with The Guardians-Tours.

Raul. He was the best tour guide. If you can make requests, request him. He loves the history of Portugal, is passionate about telling its history, and was very flexible with our needs. We learned so much and our visit to Sintra would not have been what it was without him. And his parallel parking is next level!!

We only had 5 hours to do our tour and Raul was able to fit everything important in. There is such a fascinating history of the knights Templar/free masons in Portugal and Raul knew all of it and how it related to the architecture and influence in Portugal. If you are a history buff, Raul is the guide for you and this is the tour for you!

Raul was a fabulous tour guide! He was able to flexible based on traffic and what we wanted to see. We were not rushed at all and had an amazing day in and around Sintra. There are so many complexities around the places to see in Sintra that make having a guide essential. Raul was priceless.

We've been wanting to spend a day in Sintra for quite some time. So we decided to hire a private driver to pick us up at the airport and host us around. Raul was not only a great driver, but an excellent guide as well. By the close of the day, we felt that we had truly seen the best of Sintra, including the Pena Palace & Quinta da Regalera and many smaller sites. Best way to experience the best at your own pace

Raul made our Sintra tour. Raul did an excellent job designing our tour. Raul was the best tour guide. I saw these comments in other reviews and that is why I chose this tour. These quotes from other reviews are spot on, and utterly accurate of the experience with Raul and this tour. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want to see the best of Sintra.

Raul was the best tour guide!! He was so knowledgeable about the architecture and the history of Sintra. The whole family really enjoyed his company and expertise. Raul is also the kindest man who let our son sleep in the van on the very last leg of our trip. He reall packed in all the things I wanted to see in the gorgeous city and then some. I would 100% recommend using Raul for your next trip to Portugal.

Raul was a great guide! His depth of knowledge on the places we visited was extensive. We enjoyed our time with him in Sentra and Cascais. We also appricated the time we had alone for lunch in Sentra.

My husband and I had a fabulous first day in Portugal, and Raul’s airport pickup of us after our overnight flight from the US was a key factor. We had arranged with him to do a 5 hour tour from Lisbon to Sintra and he did a fabulous job. My husband commented to me that he really enjoyed his conversations with Raul. We plan to come to Portugal again and we will engage Raul’s services again when we do.

His tour includes all the most important and beautiful castles and monuments in Sintra, plus a trip to the beach and western most part of Europe, depending on how you want to prioritize your time. He is also extremely friendly, professional, has a great outlook on life and is an overall wonderful person. We’re so glad we got to meet him and learned so much about Sintra’s rich history, especially the fascinating stories and hidden symbols of the Free Masons’ secret society.
