Itinerary

Begin your sightseeing tour near Messina’s Catalani Church. After a brief orientation session on your easy-to-ride Segway, take off with your guide into the city.

Glide past the locals in the bustling Piazza Cairoli and head toward the University of Messina and Court of Justice in Piazza Pugliatti. As you travel along the wide, sweeping boulevards, learn the history behind the Sicilian city from your guide, including the massive reconstruction that occurred following the infamous 1908 earthquake.

Arrive in Piazza Duomo for a glimpse at one of Sicily's finest cathedrals, the Messina Duomo. Note its famous astronomical clock, said to be the world’s largest, and the Norman-style architecture.

Continue to the Arab-Norman Church of Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani and pass some of the city’s most impressive Baroque fountains and Neo-Classical palaces.

Coast past the lovely medieval church of San Francesco d’Assisi next, continuing through the tree-lined paths in Messina’s public park. Afterward, check out the famous Fountain of Neptune in Piazza Unità d'Italia before returning to Catalani Church.

We had a fantastic Segway tour around Messina with our guide Francesco. He brought the city’s history to life with stories based on real events like the devastating earthquake and tsunami that destroyed much of the city, and others rooted in folklore. It was a fun and unique way to explore Messina while learning about its dramatic past.

Francesco was great! A very fun way to see Messina. It took only a few minutes to learn to ride the Segway and after a while you just moved without thinking.

Little bit of trouble finding the meeting spot, However once found, the Guide & his father were terrific ! Segways were fairly easy to operate. Our Young Guide was really good, knowledgeable about the History. And we were introduced to Granadas and brioche!

Very fun experience. I was very nervous at first but they were very patient and in no time I was cruising along like a pro. My teenagers loved it and our guide was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

This was truly a unique way to buzz about the city and learn of its history and highlights. Our guide was very cautious and showed the the city on this fun tour. I had experienced a Segway before, but it was new for my husband. They kindly and carefully taught him how during the little training part and off we went. Up and down the hills of the city like a breeze stopping often for him to share the history and stories of the people. We would recommend this tour.

We (family of 4 with mom, dad, and 2 teens) did this as a shore excursion during a cruise ship stop in Messina. This tour was awesome, and way better than anything the cruise ship had to offer. We met the guides literally 5 minutes from the ship. We had a brief introduction from our patient tour guides on riding a Segway. My wife was a little intimidates, but they patiently walked her through it. Then we were off, with guides in front and behind us. We felt very safe the whole way. During the ride, we listened to an overview of what we were seeing from the guide behind us. it was very informative. We stopped at a few places for photos, including an overlook of Messina. At the end, we also stopped for Granitas (google it) at a place for locals and had a very authentic experience. We had a ton of fun riding the Segways, felt safe the whole way, and saw more of Messina than any walking tour or bus tour possibly could. I highly recommend.
