What To Expect

Make your way to a farm and vineyard near Catania, where you’ll be welcomed with a spread of classic Sicilian treats. When the weather is cool, the tasting may take place at the farm’s 1800 palmento, the stone basins used for making traditional wine. In spring and summer months, enjoy your wine and food in a pretty outdoor setting surrounded by Mediterranean plants.

Start with four different wines, which pair beautifully with a range of products in olive oil, including black olives, green olives, dried tomatoes, and mushrooms.

Try some Salame Sant’Angelo di Brolo, taste two different kinds of cheese, Sicilian pâté, and marmalade made with oranges and tangerines. You’ll continue with a Sicilian-style cunzato bread, home-made bruschetta, vegetables wrapped in a rustic phyllo pastry, and Nerello Masalese sausage, served with a side of farm-fresh grilled vegetables.

Finish on a sweet note with dessert and coffee—if desired, you can visit the farm’s store after the tasting to pick up treats with a 25% discount.

What is a Palmento?

The winery is out of town so a taxi or private car is necessary. The winery tour was fabulous, we learned a lot about how the wine was made in earlier days. The delicacies portion of the tour was delicious and relaxing. We would highly recommend this tour

Too hard to get from our Hotel to...

Too hard to get from our Hotel to the location and the cost of a transfer would have been far more than the value of the tour which we paid for in advance so we chose not to do this tour and just lose our money paid. I wrote in advance about local transport to the winery location and I was told it was inexpensive and easy. Not so. If you don't have your own transportation don't do this tour. Especially if you are like us and haven't been to Sicily before

It was very interesting to learn about the old culture and the tour guide spoke very good English. They were very polite and the wine and the food tasting was incredible. Some advice, don't eat before as there is a lot of food! Also, if you turn up early, the gate may be locked but worth the wait!
