Overview

On the west side of Rio, inside the huge Pedra Branca State Park, with plenty of native forest and wild life, Pedra do Telégrafo is Instagram famous due to an optical illusion that makes it look as though you are hanging off the mountainside. Felipe was our tour guide and we were so pleased with him. He was on time, very motivated, gave us a great tour along the way to the hiking starting point and took amazing pictures. He was patient and so kind. I cannot say enough about how great he was with us. Kudos!!! I would definitely recommend and I would definitely do this again! 5+ stars.

A Must-Do Hike in Rio with an Exceptional Guide

We had an amazing experience hiking Pedra do Telégrafo with Leo as our guide. He has such a friendly, warm, and welcoming personality and was incredibly accommodating throughout the entire experience. Leo came very well prepared for the hike, providing hiking sticks and even mosquito repellent, which made a big difference. Beyond the hike itself, he was extremely helpful and shared great advice and tips about exploring Rio de Janeiro. After the hike, he took us to a fantastic local spot where we got to try delicious pastéis and fresh sugarcane juice, which was the perfect way to end the day. I highly recommend Leo if you’re looking for a knowledgeable, prepared, and genuinely kind guide who goes above and beyond to make the experience memorable.

This is a nice hike, mostly uphill but easy enough to do with a stunning view at the top. Felipe was our guide who picked us up and dropped us to our hotel and took some great photos of us at the look out. He was knowledgeable about the area and was lovely to speak with.

We had an amazing morning hike. We left very early in the morning to ensure that we are among the first ones on the trail. The guide was super nice and accommodating, very chatty and provided useful insights. He also didn’t force any speed and made sure we stopped when we needed to take a break. When we arrived, we were the first ones there for at least an hour, what a treat! The view from the top is absolutely amazing and we can’t recommend this tour enough. Off topic - we also wanted to see capibaras when in Rio and the guide was kind enough to drive us (on our way back) near the areas where you can spot them - thank you so much!!! It was an unforgettable trip and we will be sure to do it again when we are back in Rio :)

Terrible experience, cancelled last minute

Pick up was at 4am. Informed by operator by email at 12:30am that no guides were available. We had booked this trip on Tuesday afternoon for Thursday morning so plenty of time to let us know. No communication received from operator other than this last minute cancellation. They completely ruined our plans during our limited time in Rio - we got up at 3:30am to find out we weren’t going. Do not trust your plans these guys.

Rhys, as I explained to you I had no access to internet for almost 2 days. When it normalize I contact you asap to organize your tour but at that time all guides were not available so you asked to cancel and refund you 100%. Sorry for inconvenience but is out of my hands as I was not informed that my internet service was passing by maintenance. I only have good reviews and will keep like that, wasn't my fault sorry

The guide was super gracious and helpful as we hiked up the mountain. The top of the mountain was beautiful however we did have clouds roll in that blocked our views when we took pictures. Nothing that the guide could control, but we did get several pictures of the view before clouds rolled in. Hike was invigorating! Awesome experience!!!

Incredible Experience with Top Tourist Guide!

Felipe and Jalmir are amazing, we got on the road very early (5an) to get ahead of city traffic and avoided meeting crowds at the top of the rock when we got there. Totally worth taking this tour, but keep in mind that it’s a very steep hike for people in good disposition and physical condition. We loved every part of it. Jalmir was super nice and showed us a few other spots along the way. Highly recommended when visiting Rio de Janeiro.

Loved this tour. The hike is challenging but it’s beautiful. The guide, Felipe was super kind and knowledgeable. He was patient as some needed time to stop and breathe on the hike. Would book another tour with him!

Highly recommended !!! Best tour guide ever! Take the early tour! Trust me!! The lines can get long. We took the 5:30 am. Very short wait!

Expectations not managed

This tour was ok but our expectations of the day were poorly managed. Firstly is says hotel pick up available they asked us if we could meet elsewhere to be picked up however we would be dropped back at our hotel. The tour also states approx. 5 hrs. Firstly driver was 30 mins late, then lroceeded to drive us to his home to change cars whixh added additional time and the 5 of us were squashed into a small car. The tour ended up being 8 hrs not 5 hrs and then we were told he didn't have time to drop us back to our hotel so left us at another guests hostel. I booked this tour mainly as it was meant to be a half day around 5 hrs as stated. On the way back we stopped at a beach for 30 mins unnecessarily, as the tour was running so overtime we shoukd have been asked us if we even wanted to stop as we were all starving but this didnt happen so we sat on the beach tired and hungry and annoyed at the time. The walk itself was fine but the whole day was poorly managed and as a result I wouldnt recommend.

The Rio Eco Trip always tries to do the best for its customers. We provide transportation only to South zone, this all described on the webpage. You were staying in Santa Teresa and this location is not covered by our shuttle so you were headed to the meeting point. The guide was with a Big Pajero for 6 places but 2 tourists canceled at the last moment so he asked you and other 2 tourists about changing cars to better satisfy them and make a faster transfer and everyone agreed. He did not change the route, he lives on the way and made a quick stop at his place. On the way back the guide asked everyone if want to make a stop on the beach and everyone agreed again. I don't understand why this bad rating, 100% of my ratings on Tripadvisor are ALL 5 STARS.
