Overview

Take your Rio de Janeiro visit to new heights thanks to this small-group hiking excursion to the top of Pedra da Gavea. Travel to Rio’s Tijuca rainforest for your ascent of this 2,770-foot (844-meter) pinnacle of rock, admiring local wildlife during the steep climb. You’ll eventually strap on climbing equipment, completing a few basic rock climbing sections on your trip to the top. Enjoy stunning views of greater Rio from the peak before rappelling back down. A guide and all necessary equipment are all included.

Sergio was my guide, absolutely fantastic service the whole day, spoke good English which helped a gringo like me. Really fun day of hiking, rock climbing and taking in the views. Also provided great service in showing the best spots for photos and taking them for the group. Would recommend to anyone thinking of going

The best hike I’ve done.Sergio the tour guide is very dedicated,very knowledgeable friendly and helpful.took his time on every difficult section of hike.made sure that everyone is safe.we are lucky to have a perfect weather, the top of Pedra da gavea is surrounded by a beautiful landscape it overlooks on every angle side of Rio.

Great guide. Good in communications. Well organized. Unfortunately we did not have view due to rain but overall enjoyed the trip. Since the rocks were wet it was a bit tricky but all went good.

The hike and climb was a bit difficult but so my triumph once reaching the top. Sergio was so amazing. The most patient human being I’ve ever met. He continuously controlled me to “control my fears” which gave me so much trust into his instructions. 10/10 highly recommend.

It was a good things to do this hiking, It was hard but it worth all the effort we put to reach the top of the rock. Luiz is a excellent guide, he knows his stuffs and was so helpful with us. If you are in Rio, don't miss this opportunity!

Our guide was Eduardo. He « practiced « his English with us , as he said. He spoke English good enough for us to understand everything he tried to communicate. His pace was good, and we managed to keep up with him! We’re an older couple... we lucked out as we were the only hikers that day on that tour . It was definitely a challenge but loved it. He does a loop hike instead of an out and back which makes it more interesting. Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the top as clouds and rain started as we got to the cave. Still had a few great view points on the way. Saw 2 different species of monkeys which was very nice. We got some marmoset monkeys an arm length away at some point! Lovely day, amazing guide. Well worth it.

Awesome Hiking trip with a very good guide. We were fortunate to get a clear view from the top (clear of clouds). The guide was excellent and we felt safe during the whole hike including the section where we used rope gear to climb and descend.

Our guide Lucas was very nice and knowable about the place, they provided a necessary equipment to make the hiking part safe and the view up there was really worth it. 100%recommend nattrip and Lucas as a guide.

Our guide, Didi was very knowledgable about the region, park and mountain. The trek to the summit was challenging but a great workout. The views from the summit are absolutely breathtaking. I only wish we spent more time up there. I would definitely do this again!

A great experience... As a beginner I thought it will be too difficult to reach the top but fortunately it was not that bad thanks to our great guide Lucas, there was a portion which we climbed using tools and ropes though you don't need that if you are experienced and the views from the top are spectacular.

Don't recommend never showed up.Returned our calls over 2 hours later and said sorry but could not give us a reason as to why no one showed up.Very frustrating, wasted our time completely!We were unable to organise another operator with the late notice so we missed out completely, very dissapointing

The view atop this mountain was one...

The view atop this mountain was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life! Be aware however, that you will be doing some serious mountain climbing on this excursion and will get dirty. The climb takes around 8 hours up and down, so eat a good breakfast and you may want to bring snacks and of course water for along the way. No bathrooms along the way, so if you are shy about relieving yourself in the woods, this is something you should know. Our guide Didi was extremely trustworthy, patient and supportive, I would give him 5 stars!!
