Complete No-show/No communication

Well, this was a total no-show from the event organiser..I booked this event way ahead on Viator. Unlike other tours I go on I had zero communication ahead of this event. Viator had already taken the money for the tickets and issued the vouchers with the meeting point. I messaged the organiser a few hours ahead to check it was still happening but no response. As I had no communication stating the event was cancelled we decided to take a taxi to the meeting point. After nearly 25 minutes of waiting we had to get another taxi back. Complete waste of time and taxi money!! Will be contacting Viator to at least try and recoup the voucher money..

Hi, I’m really sorry for your experience. I want to clarify that during my illness, I paid other guides from my team so the tours could continue normally. The visit did happen with the substitute guide. I always send all instructions for the baile funk and all tours, but clients also need to reach out if they haven’t received something, I can’t guess what information you’re missing. It seems we had a communication gap, and for that, I sincerely apologize. Please also consider that I have many reviews from travelers who speak about my professionalism, my kindness, and the quality of my work. So I kindly ask you not to be unfair by telling others to look for another company. Of course, everyone is free to choose any operator, but your comment was unfortunately very harsh and does not reflect the usual experience with my service. My health had to come first at that moment, but I never leave clients without support, and I always work hard to deliver the best experience. Thank you for your understanding.

My guide Alex was the best! He was very attentive and made sure the group was together, safe, and comfortable the entire time. This was a very authentic experience. I have taken other tours with Alex, as he is the guy to know here in Rio. I highly recommend everyone to take this BaileFunk tour, his Hiking tour, and his favela tour!

Amazing experience from start to finish! Simply incredible and very very safe experience, unlike the common picture of Favelas. Our guide Alex was very helpful and accommodating and always made sure we had a good time and felt safe. What we experienced at the baile funk party can never be experienced anywhere else and for sure not in the way Alex (a guy from favela) could show us! Don’t miss this opportunity if you ever come to Rio. Thanks again Alex and I hope to see you soon again!

Baile funk in Rocinha

Going to this Baile Funk party in the biggest favela of south America was one of the highlights of my trip to Rio de Janeiro. Alex and Felipe we’re our guides and made sure that everybody had the best time. We met up with everybody and went to a viewing point and a local bar first. The party itself was amazing. It took place in the center of Rocinha. I expected to get some strange looks as a foreign tourist, but that wasn’t the case at all. I felt welcome. The bass and music were amazing. We all had a very good time and stayed until sunrise. There are many misconceptions about favela’s but as a foreigner it would be good to do some research on what to expect i think. If you follow your common sense and simple rules, then this trip is perfectly safe to attend aswell. I’d defenitely book it again when i return to Rio.
