We went to the meeting point mentioned in the original description but couldn’t find it, I immediately called Viator to explain the issue, but the call was disconnected. I then called the number provided by the tour company on my booking. When the tour company answered, they seemed clueless about the booking. I was asked to send them copies of the booking via WhatsApp, which I did. They responded and asked if I was the person I claimed to be. I replied no and provided my name. Despite sending two more message, I didn’t receive any response from them. I called Viator again, but the call was disconnected. I called Viator once more and spoke to a representative. After a few minutes, I was informed that the tour representative was trying to contact me. I checked my WhatsApp and didn’t recognize the number or company. Finally, I reached someone, and this new company informed me that the tour had already left without us. It appears the tour company had been changed. I requested a refund from Viator, who forwarded it to the tour company I hadn’t booked. However, Viator responded that the refund was denied by this new company. No surprise! I plan to appeal the decision. I’m writing this to express my disappointment with the value and expertise of Viator. I had other issues with a few other tours booked through them during this trip. While we were able to make these tours, they were not as we had originally booked. So, please be aware that after booking a tour with Viator, you’ll need to confirm your tour information repeatedly before the tour begins. It’s become too much hassle after the purchase. I won’t be booking with Viator again after using them for the past seven years.

Great tour but it rained so Sorrento wasn’t as appealing to walk around. 2 hrs in Pompeii is decent enough. The limoncello tasting was wonderful.

It didn't happen not enough other interest,replacement excursion was excellent but it was just to Pompeii and much shorter time but cost the same as the original excursion. Our guides Antonella,Bargeo? and Patricia our driver were fabulous though

Our tour guide, Gabi, was amazing and made sure we knew exactly where we were going and what we were doing. Sorrento was beautiful and I would definitely recommend this to cruisers. Make sure you know where you want to go in Pompeii because it would take days to see everything!

We did this tour last year and we chose it again simply because we wanted to visit Sorrento again to get more Limoncello products and have a more detailed visit of Pompeii. Sorrento is a beautiful town with a fantastic view. We simply wandered the streets, checked out the shops and spend almost 100 Euros at the Limoncello store on liquor, cookies and pistachio butter. We highly recommended everything at the store that you are taken to by the tour. We suggest that you research what to see at Pompeii and go over the map to plan your route in order to see as much as you can. At most you will have 2 hours at Pompeii and it can be overwhelming and confusing to navigate on your own in the scorching heat. Last year we were unprepared and just grabbed a map at the entrance but we wandered aimlessly and only saw one-third of the entire place. This year I planned our route and we saw everything that we wanted to see at a leisurely pace. This tour is essentially only a transfer from the cruise port to Sorrento and Pompeii with limited commentary during the bus ride. The person who accompanies you on the tour is very attentive to getting you back to your cruise port on time and adjusts the tour schedule as needed.

This is an affordable package for those who want to get a taste of both Sorento and Pompeii in a single day. First, the tour guide should wait for cruisers where everyone is exiting the ship as it would make it easier to locate her. Because the kiosk is way on the other side of the street, most people may had a hard time finding it. Second, the tour guide needs to be a bit more engaging. Third, the tour guide should escort the group during the 2 hour tour of Pompeii. That place is so vast that we got lost and we were almost left stranded out there with no way back to the ship. Luckily, we communicated with the tour guide and the office and by pure luck we made it to the bus. Also, Pompeii has many bathrooms, at least one restaurant, and provides a short description of each site. No point wasting time queuing outside to pay for bathroom or to rent an audio guide. If you have to go it alone, take pictures of important landmarks on your way in so you can easily find your way back.

After a rocky start to finding the location, (the Google link that they send you is incorrect), and when they called looking for us, all she told me to do was “follow the map” that was not leading me in the right direction. So, if you do decide to take this tour, which I’m not saying you should, go out of the Naples port to your right there is a blue and white building with writing all over it. That is the meeting point. Not where they send you the link to. Also, they told us the girl was in completely different clothing than she was, it was a bit of a mess. Once we got on our way, It was fine. Not a ton of information about the area given, but some. The biggest issue is if you are coming from a cruise ship that leaves by 4pm, there is just simply not enough time to do Sorrento and Pompeii efficiently. I would choose one or the other for your tour. We got 1hr and 40 min in Sorrento and 1 hour 20 in Pompei after traffic and walking to meeting points and back to the bus. You need way more time in Pompei than that, also, when you use their Skip line tickets, you do not get a map of Pompeii, and so you are left wandering around trying to find out where you are in a huge area, luckily, another group had a bunch of maps, and gave us one, but just be aware. Overall wasn’t bad but wasn’t great.

The mini van air conditioning isn’t working properly and it’s hot & unpleasant transportation to Sorrento & Pompeii. Note: tour leader isn’t tour guide. She is just a chaperone not experienced tour guide with history of the place we are visiting. Both, Sorrento & Pompeii are drop off locations on your own…

Disappointing experience

The guide Simona was not informative, the trip is self guided. Bus ride in silence. 2:45h in Sorrento, where the highlight was just taking us to spend money in a lemonchello shop, which only left us 1:30h in Pompeii, that was rushed and we did not see much of anything. Skip the line but did not give us a map like regular line was provided, so we were left in the scorching sun figuring out everything by ourselves. I was so excited to visit Pompeii with my family and left feeling frustrated. Might as well just take a taxi and be dropped off then going with this tour.

Simona was great! She met us very close to where our ship docked, took us to a place with the best limoncello in Sorrento. When we got a bit lost in Pompeii, I text her and she got us out of there. Other people on our tour were going to be late for their ship so they dropped them off near their ship which wasn’t the designated ending spot but helped them out and then took us back to our ship. I wish we had more time in Sorrento. Also this tour doesn’t come with a tour guide in Pompeii but I recommend getting one once there. It’s very large and easy to get lost. Overall it was a great tour!

This tour was essentially a bus trip with an escort which was what we wanted. It would have been nice to have more commentary throughout the ride to explain what we were passing or seeing. Our guide was nice enough & friendly. The bus was small with uncomfortable seats & poor air circulation which made for a long ride. We were given enough time to see Sorrento but could have used more time in Pompeii since we were on our own to explore. Our guide made sure we were back in Naples in plenty of time to get back on our cruise ship.

Sorrento was amazing! One of my favorite cities we visited. Wish we had more time there. Pompeii great also but you definitely need a guided tour and this particular excursion did not offer that.
