What To Expect
After joining up with your guide in central Naples, head to a nearby restaurant for your cooking experience. Make your way to the kitchen, roll up your sleeves and hear the secrets behind the city’s beloved dish from your expert pizzaiolo.
Begin with the dough, mixing, kneading and stretching under the helpful guidance of your instructor. Unlike the Florentines up north, Neapolitan pizzas typically have thicker, doughier bases. Learn exactly how to create the right consistency to give it that soft, southern effect.
Then, choose your toppings. Naples has a less-is-more approach when it comes to their trademark dishes, relying on the high quality of their local produce to bring out the flavor. Fresh basil, tomatoes, soft mozzarella di buffalo cheese, and rich olive oils are pizza staples down here, and you’ll use these ingredients to give your pie the full Italian treatment.
Stick your pizza in the oven and relax with your fellow foodies while it bakes. Enjoy an included soft drink and bruschetta appetizer before digging into your own piping hot pizza. Top it all off with a dolce del giorno (dessert of the day).

Hard to get more authentic than literally being taken into the kitchen of one of the local pizzerias and being taught by the chef himself. We had assumed it would be a group cooking class but we were pleasantly surprised by the individual experience we had. Pizzeria Annare's staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed an appetizer with complimentary champagne, an example pizza made by the chef followed by our own individual pizzas and a large slice of delicious tiramisu for dessert.

Location was changed last minute and we were rushed through the class. Paid almost $80 per person for an 8 minute class. We were on our honeymoon and were not impressed. Not worth it stay away!

The ppl were friendly but they should have cancelled when the instructor could not make it and give us a refund. It was very rushed and over zoom. Lasted 20 mins at best.

I Will be as objective as possible in my review. So I had reserved for 13 people about 3 weeks before the event. We had a bus tour of Amalfi for the morning until 5 pm. I figured 6:30 time for the school would be plenty of time to get there. The lady from the pizzeria called the day before asking if we can come in early at 5 pm because there was another group booked. I said I will try but no guarantee. We got back to Naples at 5:15 and it took us another 30 minutes to get there. She kept calling me and asking where we were. I was slightly irritated because it wasn’t my fault that they were overbooked. Figuring out logistics with a group of 13 is not easy and everything takes longer.
When we arrived, we started right away. The only hands on experience was mixing and kneading the dough. I thought that we would get to roll it out, put the sauce and cheese. But that wasn’t part of it. Maybe it usually is but because they were kinda rushing us, I figured they just wanted to get it over with.
Then we sat at the table and each person got one margheritta pizza. It said that fried pizza was included but we didn’t get any. The ticket clearly said that each person can have a drink of choice but then told us that alcoholic drinks were extra.
The owner came over to us and asked if we wanted limoncello. Our ticket clearly said that it was also included. He said we had to pay. I showed him our reservation where it said it was included and he said it was wrong. So we passed on the limoncello and left.
Overall, we got to mix the dough, have one margherita pizza and share bottles of coke and water. No way in hell was that worth $65!! Considering that pizza is available on every corner in Naples for 7 euro. Also, we were only there for about an hour, not 2 like the ticket suggests.
I think taking a pizza class in Naples is a fun idea but avoid this one and go for a cheaper option.

Day before the class i got a message that the location had changed due to an oven issue. Not a prob. I understand that. New location was set, day and time did not change. Next day we showed up to the new location on time and it was closed. I knocked on the resturant door and an employee, clearly annoyed, said he had no idea of what i was talking about and promptly closed and lock the door. After several attempts i reached the booking agent who after a LONG hold informed the, the class has been canceled. No explanation, no alternatives. Family was pretty looking forward to the class, but to no avail.

Serena was a great host and Lalo was a great instructor! Learned the ratio for the perfect pizza dough and how to roll the pizza

I would highly recommend doing this. Our guide was very fun and informative, and the pizza was delicious!

Chef Mimmo was very patient and kind in guiding us to make our first Neapolitan pizza. All the staff at Mercato Maggiore were very welcoming and helpful. We also had a nice host who kindly translated when necessary.

Thank you for the review, you were an amazing host!
We hope for having you in other Napoli City Vision experiences.

Great experience in pizza making at an excellent restaurant with an expert chef Luigi. The kids had a really good time making and eating their own pizza and even adults learned a thing or two about the proper way to make traditional pizza dough. Was very easy to find the place as it was close to the city center.
Response from Host, Sep 2021
Dear Dmitry,
thanks for your kind review. We are happy to know that you and your family had a great time making pizza.
Warm regards

The class was a wonderful surprise and truly a highlight to Naples for
me to make a pizza here. The staff was extraordinary. Gennaro was the
Translator/Guide who was so friendly, so good at his job that he made the
experience very great not only for me by my companion in this venture. The
Pizziaolo was Antonio, who is the quintessential Neapolitan Gentleman and
professional pizza expert. Simona was the Restaurant Representative and a
real darling to us, great hospitality. There was a waiter as well who was
very good and attentive but I did not get his name. I loved the experience!
Learning about history of pizza and tasking the history as well. I truly
loved it. I look forward to visiting the restaurant again since I live in
Naples.

This was a ‘must do’ for us when we visited Naples recently.
Communication was really good with the organisers and we were collected early. Our driver gave us lots of local knowledge and history during the journey to the pizzeria. Once there we met the pizza chef and our driver then became the translator.
Both are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate which made the time really good fun as well as interesting.
After tasting some of chefs work, we made our own pizzas which tasted pretty good.
If you book this trip I would recommend a light breakfast 😃

Chef Antonio truly made our experience very memorable! We visited Naples for the very purpose of making Napoli pizza. It’s so simple, and so tasty! We had the traditional margherita pizza (tomato sauce, basil, and mozzarella); marinara and oregano. There were only 2 more people on this tour with us so it was nice not to be in such a big group. It was a very intimate evening away from the city of Naples, and with good company. Our driver was also our commentator, he was very informative and translated for the most part. I think I’ll open my own pizzeria one day! Buon appetito!

This was a very enjoyable evening. Not only did we get to learn about the history of the pizza and how to make it but we met and enjoyed the company of new and interesting people who were there with the class.
Barbara_I, Aug 2019
The bus driver was half an hour late (called the office 2x before he arrived)- not a great start waiting in the heat! The location was interesting- out of the city on the way to Vesuvius; welcome drink and nibbles were served. Making the pizza was fun and the driver became our interpreter as the chef didn't speak english. Although a pastry with candle was promised as it was my son's birthday, this didn't happen and we had to rush off without dessert as 2 other guests had to get to their accommodation which was nearer the airport and it was quite late.

At first I was skeptical because it appeared that this was going to be just a demonstration. However, we did get to make our own pizzas. The other people were fun and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I had a great time!

If you like pizza, like to make pizza and are visiting Naples - don't hesitate, just book this experience! It was so much fun making the pizzas and learning a few tips and tricks on how to make the perfect neapolitean pizza!
Frances_C, Apr 2019
We were welcomed with two glasses of prosecco at the restaurant, which was a busy little restaurant in Naples. We were asked to wash our hands and make our way to the kitchen, where the chef demonstrated making a pizza first. We then made ours which was really fun - an enjoyable experience, highly recommend .

Very good experience how to make pizza! The transfer and translation was perfect by Elvis. Everyone was very nice at the restaurant. Great hospitality. Armando (the chef) gives good lessons (and tips) how to make pizza. Armando is very enthusiastic. Wife and daughter could be present at the experience to watch, this was no problem, We enjoyed it very much. We will recommend this experience to everyone.
Christoffer_M, Nov 2018
All was fun and interesting. Learned the history of pizza and the way of making it! Perfect night! Picked up from our hotel and taken to the restaurant where the driver acted as translator. Stayed for 2 hrs and then taken back to our hotel
Carolyn T, Sep 2018
The chef did not speak English which we did not mind...however the driver was our interpretor and he was difficult to understand. The class was fun...the chef was awsome!

This was amazing !!
We are a couple. We wanted to discover the real italian cooking.
We chose this experience for the amazing review and we were not disappointed at all.
A driver picked us in the town, to drive us to the pizzeria. This is a new building on the East of the town, big and really cute.
They welcomed us with drinks and appetizer. We met Armando the cooker who told us Neapolitan pizza's story. He made in front of us the typical pizza and we savored it. He had troubles to speak English but the driver stayed with us to translate.
From theory to practice, we made our own pizza! Delicious!
That was really fun, Armando was charming and we had a wonderful time.
After the lesson we could enjoy our pizza in the restaurant. They offered us the dessert traditional Baba
That was a really good time, thank you.
I juste have an advice : don't eat too much for the breakfast !!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy! We were picked up by Gianni(sp?), even though we didn't pay for transportation(I think it was because the restaurant was so far away from city center). He spoke great English, which was fantastic since our Italian was not very good. We picked up one other couple and went to a very modern restaurant(I think it was called Showtime) in an industrial district. We were served a plate of appetizers and some sort of fruity drink, all of which was great. When it came time for our lesson, we were greeted by Antonio, who was the pizziaolo. He spoke no English, but Gianni translated for us. He is a 3rd generation pizza maker, knew all of the history. He showed up how to make the dough, but we used dough he had already prepared when it came time to make our own, because it takes the dough 24 hours to be ready for use. We did everything, from stretching our own dough, putting on our toppings, to sliding it on the pizza peel. When they came out of the wood fired oven, WOW! We were seated in the restaurant, given a glass of wine and left to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Afterwards, we were given a very tasty chocolate cake. Afterwards, Gianni dropped us off where we wanted. The only down side is, now that we're back in the States, all the pizza sucks.

This was an amazingly fun experience for both the adults and the teens in our group! The staff was so warm and accommodating! HOW IT WORKED: We were picked up near our Airbnb and driven to a beautiful restaurant where the class was hosted. We were greeted by the host and the staff immediately. The host shared a bit of history about pizza and a few fun facts about Naples, while the wait staff served us small bites, drinks and fresh buffalo mozzarella balls. So yummy! Afterwhich, we were able to flatten our dough and create our pizzas. The staff then placed the pizza on the long stemmed, wooden spatula type thing and cooked the pizzas (right in front of us) in the old school fire ovens. It was neat to watch. The pizza literally cooks in less than 2mins! After everyone made their pizzas, we feasted on our pizzas. They even served us (the adults) wine and surprised us all with delish desserts at no additional charge. It was a perfect way to end our first night in Naples! We definitely recommend this class!

It was great and fun, the dough was already prepared but you have to in order to do pizza, over all great

Eating pizza in Naples is one thing but making your own is definitely a unique experience! I had the chance to make pizza one-on-one with a very friendly pizzaiolo at Annarè Trattoria Pizzeria in Piazza del Gesu Nuovo. When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly waitress who spoke good English and poured me a glass of Prosecco as an aperitif. The private lesson started at 1830 and lasted for approximately 30 minutes. In that time, the pizzaiolo demonstrated how to make a pizza, shared his recipe for the dough and margherita pizza toppings, and then allowed me to make my own pizza. Of course, eating the pizza was the next best part flanked by an antipasto of bruschetta and coccoli and a dessert of pasteria. Overall, an excellent way to spend the first evening in Naples!

We had a great experience learning how to make authentic Neapolitan Pizza. The restaurant was extremely friendly, the pizza maker was very nice and super informative we learned a lot!. It was a fantastic hands on experience and getting to eat your pizza making was wonderful! The tiramisu dessert at the end was the best we've ever had! Best for small groups 4 or less.

The staff were great, the experience too! Really enjoyed it but it was very short. The food was great also :)

The pizza making portion itself was good. It was pretty quick, but not difficult and the staff was friendly. However, as others have mentioned, the meal itself is just mediocre. If it weren't for the fried pizza dough a salad would be perfect, the meal would be much better.
Kelsey B, Dec 2017
Loved this!! I highly recommend this experience in Naples.
Vince F, Nov 2017
This is the 1st Victor tour I booked that was disappointing. We were told we would be making pizza but only assembled it. We were given premade dough, stretched it out,put on sauce and cheese and put it in the oven. No appetizer, drink or dessert as promised in the description. The whole experience was about 45 minutes and even though we didn't get what we paid for he asked us for a tip. So ultimately we paid 50 euro each to cook our own lunch. The organizer was Christina and the restaurant was Annare. A waste of 150 Euro for us
