Alum gave us an insightful, information-packed experience at the Dachau Memorial Site. He is passionate about the subject matter and tailored the tour to the interests of the group. Highly recommended!!

This tour was a profound experience. We thought we generally knew about German WWII concentration camps, but we had no idea about much of the information presented. Our guide Alan was excellent! He spoke perfect English and was so very knowledgeable. We walked around every aspect of Dachau; it was moving, terrifying, and critically important. We were never rushed, but Alan kept us at a pace that we could see and absorb it all. As difficult as it was to see the horrors of Dachau, everyone should take a tour like this to learn from the past and help ensure we never again come close to Hitler's Nazi terrors. We were surprised to see some people with young kids. No child should be brought to Dachua - they are just a distraction to other folks and they shouldn't see the photos, etc. Highly recommend!

We met under the glockenspiel our guide Alun led us to train for our twenty minute ride to Dachou while explaining what we were about to see.then a short bus ride to the memorial. He walked us up to each exhibit explaining what was inside . He gave us time to walk through each building and answered questions. At the end he gave us approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to view the museum or to go back to something we wanted to spend more time at. Then the bus and train back to our starting point reflecting on what we had seen and how it all started.
Response from Host, Apr 2026

We had a great tour guide very knowledgeable about the events leading to and during the time the Dachau Concentration Camp. It was a sobering experience to witness but a remembrance of the victims and survivors. Would recommend Alum as the guide.
You take a train and quick bus ride to the town and all your questions are answered during the tour.
Very well done with a great deal of reapect.

Our tour guide was Alun, and he was an absolute gem. This guided tour is the only way to go. Anyone who would even consider going without a tour guide is absolutely doing themselves a disservice. Phenomenal experience and extremely thought provoking. Highly recommended!!!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thanks Bridget, it was a joy to meet you on the tour and a privilege to guide you through the Memorial. All the best.

This was the highlight of our trip to Munich. Alun was the best tour guide I’ve experienced – incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and also very thoughtful about the itinerary. We had just the right amount of guided tour combined with some independent time to take in the experience.

We were lucky enough to go in January or slower season. It was just us 2 and the guide. Less tourists and more time to take in what happened there. Our guide was excellent.

This trip provides a vast amount of information on the 12 years that Dachau operated. Alun did a fantastic job balancing history and narrative during the trip while providing freedom to explore on your own. He also was very experienced navigating the bus and train system to make it as comfortable as possible. Well done Alun. I highly recommend.

Anyone can walk around a site and repeat historical information but Alun makes it personable, fun, interesting, amazing. We loved everything about the tour from the tour itself to the guide to how well he took us all around. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thank you so much Alun

Alun was one of the best guides that I have ever had at a historical site. He limits he size of his groups so he can properly guide everyone through this important, complex place.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thanks Rowan, your feedback is greatly appreciated and I am really happy that you got value from your experience. All the best.
Joan_G, Nov 2025
We had an excellent tour. Meeting place was clear. Alun explained the travel process. He spent about 2 hours walking us through Dachau- explaining history and the significance of the different stops. He then gave us an hour on our own to tour the museum. Honestly, my husband and I thought it was an awful lot of time for our two boys - 24 and 26 to do the museum which didn’t look that big and my kids tend to zoom through museums. But this one? They were very interested and we probably could have spent 2-3 hours. We agreed one hour was perfect and kept us moving but you could get lost in the plaques, descriptions and films. Quite a sobering day. The group was small- only 15 - so it was very easy. I highly recommend. We returned back on time - and we went to the hofbrauhaus to lighten up our day after the powerful tour.

This is a difficult look at a horrible time in our history, and Alun was a perfect guide through Dachau. He is extremely well informed and professional. This was a very emotional and educational tour, but it's one that every single person should experience.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thanks Susan, for your humbling review of your experience. I am really happy that you got value from it. All the best.
Michelle_S, Oct 2025
Alun was a fantastic guide! He met us right on time and made sure we knew exactly where to go. We took a train and then a bus to Dachau, and he explained everything to us in great detail along the way. Dachau itself was incredibly emotional — it’s heartbreaking to see the tragedy that happened there. The experience was well-organized and deeply moving. Highly recommend this tour and Alun as a guide.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thanks Michelle, it was great to meet you on the tour. I am delighted that you got value from your experience. All the best.
Julie_T, Oct 2025
Very informative tour. Transportation to and from site was smooth. Would like to have had a little more time in the museum.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Many thanks Julie, for taking the time out in your day to submit a review. I am really happy that you got value from your experience. I have experimented with the museum time a lot. For the majority of visitors an hour in the museum seems to be optimal. Especially considering a lot of information is given during the main portion of the tour. The museum time becomes much more significant if guests are unguided. It was great to meet you on the tour. All the best.
Tom_M, Oct 2025
Alun is an amazing tour guide. The educational experience was extremely moving. Alun brought the history to life.

Alun Evan’s is a guide with deep and detailed knowledge of the Dachau Camp Site. His narration of our tour provided historical background as well as vivid descriptions of life in the Camp. Alun is personable and well-organized. This is one of the best tours I’ve been on.

Highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Alun, was really knowledgeable and did a great job of concisely and objectively explaining the history. The tour was very well organized, and it was very easy to take the public transport to and from. Would strongly suggest being on time or even a little early, as it’s important to stay on time to catch the train and then the bus. I would be prepared for the weather, as you will be outside for most of the tour. Wear comfortable shoes, even proper hiking/walking shoes. You can’t eat or drink inside the memorial (it’s frowned upon and disrespectful), so we just had some water that we were sipping discreetly. I learned a lot from this tour, and I don’t think I would have had as great of an experience without it. It was nice to have some free time to enjoy the museum at the end, but the museum is honestly really huge so it was nice for Alun to provide a TLDR version throughout his guided tour. I also recommend doing this tour toward the beginning of your trip, as it is very somber and upsetting, but I think it’s a really important experience that everyone should have. Thank you again for an amazing tour! Highly recommend. It was nice to still have time to enjoy the rest of the day in Munich old town.

Book this tour with Alun! He made getting over to Dachau via train seamless and made sure our group stayed together/knew what stops we were getting off at. He was very informative and taught us things we didn’t know about that time period. You could tell he was very knowledgeable of the subject matter. 10/10 recommend learning about this subject matter with Alun.
