We had a great walking tour with Salvatore & would recommend his tour to anyone looking for an intro to the city! We especially enjoyed going to some of the areas in the city that are not as frequented by tourists and getting to hear a lot of history from a local perspective. Favorite insight was how Milan is all about looking forward & not backwards, and could really understand the city better through that lense.

Alessandro was an excellent guide. This was our first visit to Milan and he gave us a wonderful overview of the history of the city and its development. I felt ready to dive into more in depth tours the following days. Thank you Alessandro!

Me and my sister were in Milan only for one evening. And I thought this was the perfect way to know the city. Salvatore, our guide was on time, was friendly and knowledgeable. The only downside to the entire tour was the overhead expenses that was not conveyed to us. If there is a destination during the tour which requires us to reach by metro then the cost should be borne by the company. Or else the itinerary should clearly mention the same. It was very unexpected when we were suddenly told to pay for the fares and then the tour can continue . It was very unprofessional.

Saara, our tour guide was the BEST. We learned so much about Milan today and yesterday as well as the people. Saara was very knowledgeable about culture, history, religion and food. It was the best 2 hours.

Outstanding recommend ‘We Local’ as a starting point for all vacations! Salvatore took us on a private walking tour while highlighting the all the historical and contemporary points that make Milan so special. He even took the time to show us how to travel by subway to see more after our tour! Salvatore’s English is impeccable and there were no communication gaps. In addition to the shopping, Duomo, the vertical forest, and Eataly, Salvatore escorted us to the best gelato place in Milan! Perfect foundation for the rest of our stay in Milan.

Although Milan is a lovely city, my tour guide, Salvatore was the worst I have ever experienced of all the tours I have ever booked on this site. First off, when I initially booked the tour, no one reached out to me to tell me who my guide was or where to even stand at. I was given only a general plaza area with over 50 stores around. No specific location. I thought someone would let me know, but I had to reach out to the company and tell them my tour had started but I didn't know who my guide was. After I reached out, THEN I got a text from Salvatore saying he was in front of the Nike store.
When you are brand new to a city, the tour guide is supposed to be a friendly representation of the city. As soon as I met him I instantly felt unwelcome. He did not smile, shake my hand, say "welcome to Milan, thanks for coming" or convey ANY enthusiasm AT ALL. He had no type of greeting, it was as if I approached a random stranger for directions and he didn't want to be bothered.
He had this stoic, quiet demeanor that made me think something was wrong. I asked him if he liked doing tours and he said it was his hobby, but his demeanor indicated that this was a chore. He spoke very quietly so I had to ask him several times to repeat himself. He refused to speak up even though the city was loud. He was very monotone and his history lessons about the city sounded like he was reading a script. No enthusiasm. He made absolutely NO effort to engage me nor be personable the way a tour guide should be. So when he was not reciting his script there was awkward silence that I had to fill in by making conversation, which is something he should've done. It was like pulling teeth. He did the bare minimum which was take me to a few locations, but it felt like he didn't want to be there. He said this was a hobby of his but it seemed like he was just in it for the money. I felt like I would've had a more enjoyable experience if I had a tour guide who actually wanted to be there and acted genuinely. This might as well have been a self-guided tour due to the disrespectful lack of interaction.
And that wasn't even the worst part. To top it all off, he LEFT me stranded in a location completely different from where we started off. EVERY SINGLE walking tour I have ever been on, the tour guide comes full circle to the original meeting place and THEN let's people go their own way. Salvatore led me to a landmark, showed me to a nearby gelato shop and said have a nice trip. I asked him if he we could walk back to our starting point, but he simply gave me some directions for the subway (which were very hard to follow once I got to the station) and he just left. For all he knew, maybe I wanted to see something in the area that we originally met at. It doesnt matter if where we ended the tour was "closer" to the main station, he did NOT make it clear that we were going to end in a different place that we started. It seemed to me that he just didn't feel like bringing the tour full circle like a professional guide. His actions were lazy, inconsiderate and just rude.
Also, it would be nice to mention UPFRONT if there will be impromptu or additional costs involved. He randomly informed me in the middle of the tour that I would need to pay for subway tickets to get in and out of the places we were going. I paid nearly $100 for this brief tour so you would think this fee would've been included in the general cost. ANYTIME I have paid for tours, the price for admission into places was always taken care of by the guide as they had already calculated and factored that into the ticket price. I have NEVER been asked to pay out of pocket once a tour had already began.
This whole ordeal felt like a scam because I felt cheated out of what SHOULD have been a lively experience by Salvatore who clearly only did this for the money. I will definitely be seeking a refund. Hopefully no one else will have to experience such little regard and lack of professionalism.

Nous avons été déçu de cette visite. À part une vieille église, nous n’avons pas vu grand chose. Les explications étaient presque inexistantes comparées à d’autres visites guidées dans d’autres villes de l’Italie. Le guide ne semblait pas connaître beaucoup l’histoire. Vraiment dommage pour une si belle ville !
