Michael is very knowledgeable about his craft as an artisan. However he was distracted during our visit as he was working with his advanced private regular students at the same time as our Viator experience. The building was not well marked and there was no one to meet us as indicated. The experience was on the 5th floor and the elevator was hard to locate. The environment was not conducive to learning

We had such a lovely time at this workshop! It was a low-key but truly unique experience — relaxed, hands-on, and memorable. Our instructor was incredibly patient and an excellent teacher, guiding us through each step while keeping the atmosphere comfortable and enjoyable. We also really appreciated how thoughtful and accommodating he was, especially since we had a baby hanging out with our group. It made everything feel even more welcoming. We learned a lot, had great conversations, and left with pieces we’re proud of. Highly recommend!

If you’re interested in learning how to enjoy working with leather, this is definitely the workshop to take. The instructor was exceptional—very patient and highly knowledgeable in his craft. I walked away with a solid understanding of how to varnish and wax the surface of vegetable-tanned leather. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone interested in leatherwork. The only suggestion I have is to ensure the address for the workshop is more clearly labeled, as that was a bit confusing. Overall, what a great experience! Simone@718.

We were welcomed into his beautiful studio and spent the next three hours learning about leather and discussing the history of Spain. My wife and I had a truly incredible time with Michael in his workshop. We really didn't know what to expect as it was just the two of us. What unfolded was a very relaxed and productive few hours of work in which we were able to create some amazing pieces which we will treasure (hopefully for a lifetime!). Michael is rustic and raw in his teaching, and a very interesting person. It was a non-judged and supportive session which was the key to it. We are thinking about future projects and would look to book with him to create these visions in the future when time allows.

We were impressed by the elements of personalization that were part of the process (choosing a specific project, type of leather, color, etc.) We also appreciated that the process was adapted to each person’s ability, as we spanned ages 7 to 40. Our family (with kids aged 14 and 17) thoroughly enjoyed our time in the workshop. It was such an enjoyable experience learning simple leather work techniques in a relaxed atmosphere (and with great music too)! Mike was very patient with our special project ideas and helped us quickly design, and pivot, patterns which we could complete during the workshop, even generously staying beyond the allotted time. This was a great addition to our time in Madrid that really rounded out our visit. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and authentic experience.

It was a great way to spend our morning in the workshop, we chose what we would like to make, the colours of the leather etc. Michael is our host, he encouraged our hands on experience but at the same time provided guidance and explanation as needed. He also played cool music while we were working on our project and we had fun conversations as well. Very nice experience!
