Super nice and knowledgable artisan. He told us he produced pieces for theatre, collectionists, GoT when they filmed in Spain and even Ferran Adriá. Welcomes you with open arms and helps you craft a piece on your own. Very recommended!

Miguel is the best! He walked us through whatever project we chose step by step. We learned about the old way of hand made leather goods including the tools and how to use them. My friend and I made large leather wallets. I’m very pleased with my final product!

We arrived early and walked up the hill to a small plaza with benches. The weather was lovely and we felt comfortable resting and looking around at the homes and businesses. Michael met us at the door and we took the very small lift to the 5th floor. His workshop held all sorts of leather projects, tools, drawings and a panoramic view of the city below. He gave a choice of several projects. Then he shared information about the various sources for leather (not for the squimish) and how the hides are prepared for leather work. We were able to pick our preferred project, the color and type of leather we wanted to work with and then Michael walked us through step by step, cutting the shapes, gluing and sewing the piecework and adding snaps for closures. Everyone who participated took home a finished product and it was something substantial that took effort and time and that we could be proud of. Thank you Michael for your time and patience with us. Definitely recommend.

Michael is very knowledgeable about his craft as an artisan. However he was distracted during our visit as he was working with his advanced private regular students at the same time as our Viator experience. The building was not well marked and there was no one to meet us as indicated. The experience was on the 5th floor and the elevator was hard to locate. The environment was not conducive to learning

We had such a lovely time at this workshop! It was a low-key but truly unique experience — relaxed, hands-on, and memorable. Our instructor was incredibly patient and an excellent teacher, guiding us through each step while keeping the atmosphere comfortable and enjoyable. We also really appreciated how thoughtful and accommodating he was, especially since we had a baby hanging out with our group. It made everything feel even more welcoming. If you’re interested in learning how to enjoy working with leather, this is definitely the workshop to take. The instructor was exceptional—very patient and highly knowledgeable in his craft. I walked away with a solid understanding of how to varnish and wax the surface of vegetable-tanned leather. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone interested in leatherwork. The only suggestion I have is to ensure the address for the workshop is more clearly labeled, as that was a bit confusing. Overall, what a great experience! Simone@718.

My wife and I had a truly incredible time with Michael in his workshop. We really didn't know what to expect as it was just the two of us. What unfolded was a very relaxed and productive few hours of work in which we were able to create some amazing pieces which we will treasure (hopefully for a lifetime!). Michael is rustic and raw in his teaching, and a very interesting person. It was a non-judged and supportive session which was the key to it. We are thinking about future projects and would look to book with him to create these visions in the future when time allows.

Our family very much enjoyed our leathercrafting experience. We were impressed by the elements of personalization that were part of the process (choosing a specific project, type of leather, color, etc.) We also appreciated that the process was adapted to each person’s ability, as we spanned ages 7 to 40. This experience was a highlight of our trip!
