This is an excellent tour! Aidan is very knowledgeable and was part of the scene when Joe and the rest of The Clash, and other bands, got their start in Ladbroke Grove and surrounding area. You could feel the history as he brought you to each site and explained the significance. Loved it!

Our tour guide, Aidan, grew up in the area at the same time the Clash was forming and playing in local pubs. This gave the whole tour an authenticity that is rare and valuable. We viewed many sites where the band performed, recorded and were photographed for some of their iconic album covers.

This tour is a must for Clash fans, Joe Strummer fans, or fans of great British groups from the 70’s and 80’s. Aiden is a fantastic, knowledgeable, legitimate, and very funny guide. You won’t be disappointed.

Go see Aidan to learn about Joe

Aidan was incredible. He's got all the stories and first hand experience from this moment in time. A man not short on opinions, I can't imagine anyone else to lead this tour.

a glimpse at the real london ...

Chris_W, Nov 2024
Fun and fascinating... a far more interesting look at London from a rock'n'roll perspective. And the guide was great and really knew his stuff.

History brought to life

Aidan was fantastic. Local, credible, genuine and supremely entertaining. He made it all come alive. The mixture of history and personal experiences was unique.

A great tour for music and history fans

Aidan’s enthusiasm and history for music (Joe Strummer) and its connection to the area make for a great walking tour. He brings his own local experience as someone who also grew up in the area. This was a great way to spend a few hours.

The only clash walking tour that matters !

The strummer/clash walking tour was one of the highlights of my recent trip to London. Aidan was so knowledgeable and it was great see sights from the early days of the clash and to hear his many stories

Must tour for any Clash fan!!!

Aidin is a great guide. Plenty of comedy and social commentary. He really connected the neighborhood to the music. I enjoyed the entire tour and would go again with friends. If you love the Clash then this is a must.

Joe would approve!

Aidan was a great guide, with casts depths of knowledge, some of it personal. And his approach and vibe were wonderfully authentic and consistent with the punk nature of the subject matter. I’ll come back and do it again!

Cultural/economic climate that spawned Joe Strummer/The Clash

James_B, Oct 2022
The walking tour exceeded our expectations. To be clear, the tour focuses on the social, cultural, and economic climate that Joe Strummer lived in and was influenced by in the early to mid 1970s in the Ladbroke area of London. The squatter movement--or rather the ability to live in abandoned homes in the Ladbroke area of London at that time--was a critical factor in bringing together the people and culture that helped to spawn and nuture the UK punk movement. The tour guide, Aidan, was energetic, fun, and a well informed local. In other words, a good guide and narrator. He also delivers a number of personal anecdotes, which I found worthwhile, but if you are only interested in hearing more about the Clash/Strummer, you may find these stories extraneous. There was also a significant segment of the tour about Joe Stummer and the 101ers (the band Strummer was in before the Clash). A shorter version of the 101ers history/tour would have been wlecomed by my group (5 friends who are all Clash/Strummer fans). But overall, I recommend the tour. The narrative involves frequent use of salty/colorful language, not suited for children. Not that we considered bringing kids on the tour, but a heads-up just in case. An unexpected plus was interacting with some of the other people on the tour. Well worth the time and cost.
