Lucked out and got a private Sherlock tour with Richard! Saw the sights and learned a great deal of facts/interesting stories that bring London to life. Was also able to get some great pictures taken. Would happily recommend Richard's tours!

This tour has been an incredible adventure through some of the most famous landmarks in the Sherlock Holmes canon. From the former headquarter of the Great Scotland Yard, to the place where our protagonists first meet, and even the Turkish bath where the two hang out and relax.
Richard is a fantastic guide who not only knew by heart the tiniest details in every story, but also the historic significance of every building we'd passed by, as well as Conan Doyle's life and career. Which made it a real pleasure to chat with him throughout our long walk.
My favorite locations were the St. Bartholomew's Hospital, where they first conducted experiments in what would be known as forensic science, and the street where Arthur Conan Doyle opened his clinic and wrote The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in-between clients. You can no doubt feel the depth of history much bigger than your own as you walk by these landmarks.

A good tour but normally we booked a tour of 3-4 hours but the tour was already finished after 2 hours. There was only the two of us, so a small group. The guide went really fast, so maybe that was the reason why they tour ended earlier.

Oh no! This is the first non 5 star review!
A sad day for me, especially as this turned out to be a private tour for you.
The tour would have been a little longer had we gone to Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Medical Surgery, but I asked you (as we were only a small group) if you would prefer seeing Speedy's Cafe from the BBC Series "Sherlock" or Conan Doyles Surgery and you chose Speedy's as you are a fan of the show and this stop was closer and involved less walking. This is a customisation I can't do if I had more people, so thought it was an extra bonus for you.
Also at the usual rest stop in the Church Cafe you chose to push on rather than stop there for a drink.
Also bare in mind that if this was a full group of 6-8 people the tour pace would be slower to cater to different walking speeds. You guys were pretty fast walkers so I thought the pace suited you and tailored it to you.

Richard is a phenomenal guide. Very experienced and knows a lot of facts to share beyond the screen and story canon. All around nice guy who shows his experience from having worked at the museum years ago.. but also lots of tidbits to share about Franklin, etc. Well worth this private tour. Others didn't show so there was just two of us and it was so personalized. I would recommend NOT going to museum or pub locations prior though in order to experience these stories with Richard as opposed to on one's own.

Richard had another group cancel, so it was just my wife and I, however, he was both entertaining and was very knowledgeable about Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I would recommend the trip to any Holmes or Doyle fan! There was also some interesting notes about WWI, Sir William Wallace, James Bond and Harry Potter as well as other interesting London history.

Richard is an excellent guide - informative and fun. I appreciated the SH info (sorta - it's really more my husband's thing), but really liked the extra bits re: Charles Dickens, Benjamin Franklin, Aaron Burr, The Great Fire of London, etc.

Richard the guide was fabulous. He really brought to life the Sherlock Holmes stories while weaving in Dickens and London history. Although I’ve traveled far and wide, he added new knowledge to my trove. I’d say if you want a knowledgeable guide, ask for him and you won’t be disappointed.

Our guide was great and very knowledgeable about the places we visited and passed. My 17 year-old son and I ended up being the only ones on the tour, and he interwinred American history with Sherlock Holmes history along the way. He’s a true Sherlock Holmes and history buff, and it shows in his enthusiasm for what he does.

I was so impressed by this tour. The leader made it most interesting walking around to see the various areas that Doyle used in his stories was wonderful. I don’t know if it was because I am American, but places attached to our history was also included. This is a terrific part of London and I would like to take a tour even more in-depth, the next time I come to London.

Richard was fantastic to spend an afternoon with. Not only did we get great in person Sherlock Holmes spots across London; he splashed in many other fun facts about movies and history that occurred in areas on our walking tour. This was a great tour by a very knowledgeable guide. Richard went above and beyond his duties of the Sherlock information and even included other information along the way of the tour. I was super excited to do this tour after reading all of the Sherlock Holmes stories and this tour was a great denouement to that experience. I only wish I had watched the BBC series to ensure I could fully appreciate some of the sites.
