Your tour begins in central Florence, where you join up with your guide and travel out of the city by coach.

Venture westward to the Tuscan town of San Miniato, renowned for the white truffle found in its surrounding woodlands. This impressive town not only supplies the most precious and aromatic truffles, but is also said to provide close to 80 percent of the world's most desired gourmet products.

Upon entering the forest, meet your truffle hunter and his companion, a canine equipped with specialized training to seek out the truffles. Follow the pair through the woods on a leisurely walk as the dog scans under the forest floor. You know when you’ve struck gold: watch as the dog begins to dig until the delicacy is unearthed.

Afterward, reunite with your driver and relax with a 2-course lunch at a local truffle shop. Treat your taste buds to a truffle-based appetizer, before savoring a fresh truffle pasta accompanied by local wine.

With appetites sated, continue to a winery in the world-famous region of Chianti. Join your winemaker host and learn about the process behind the flavorful blends that you sample, including Super Tuscan and the estate’s Chianti DOCG.

Your tour concludes with a smooth ride back to Florence.

We had the most incredible day exploring the Tuscan countryside with Matteo, and I truly cannot recommend him highly enough. From start to finish, this was hands-down our favorite experience in all of Italy, and honestly one of the best tours I’ve ever done anywhere in the world. Matteo picked us up in a beautiful spot in Florence right along the river, and from the very beginning he was friendly, knowledgeable, and a joy to spend the day with. We enjoyed a comfortable van ride through Florence (about 30 minutes) where he shared great insights about the city and the surrounding area. Then we headed out into the countryside, and within another 30 minutes we were already soaking in the stunning scenery and passing through charming small towns, including San Miniato, which was absolutely delightful. Our main destination was a gorgeous villa where we met Francesca, who was warm, welcoming, and truly unforgettable, along with her wonderful family. We went truffle hunting with the most adorable, energetic little dog, and it was such a fun and unique experience. We ended up finding five truffles total, a mix of white and black truffles, which felt like a real accomplishment! Afterward, we toured the property, including a private church on site, which was an amazing and special touch. Then came what can only be described as the best meal of our entire trip: Francesca and her family prepared an incredible homemade lunch, featuring fresh pasta with their homemade olive oil, topped generously with the truffles we found. It was absolutely phenomenal. As if that wasn’t enough, Francesca also served wild boar that she had hunted just two days earlier, and it was truly outstanding (with truffles on top, of course). Alongside that, we enjoyed delicious homemade bread and an unforgettable wine tasting with excellent local and homegrown wines that paired perfectly with the food. To end the day, Matteo took us to a vineyard where we enjoyed another wine tasting, learned about the region and the vineyard, sampled several fantastic wines, and enjoyed them with various types of ham. Every moment felt thoughtful, authentic, and perfectly paced. Matteo was amazing, Francesca and her family were amazing, and the entire experience was beyond anything we could have hoped for. Perfect food, perfect wine, perfect scenery, and perfect company. Highly, highly recommend!

Matteo was a fantastic tour guide. His knowledge of wine and the history of Italy was unmatched. What a wonderful day we had! He was kind enough to wait on us as we got lost finding the pick up place too. We even found two truffles (well…the dog Aros did all the work, lol). Our lunch was next level fantastic, the truffle pasta and the egg dish with truffle and veggies was our favorite! I had the best time on Andrea’s truffle hunt! Francesca and her dog Iris were the perfect truffle-hunting duo — so skilled and fun to watch. The experience was fascinating from start to finish, and Andrea made it even better with his incredible wine knowledge and warm hospitality. The three-course truffle meal afterward was absolutely phenomenal — every bite was bursting with flavor. I learned so much, laughed a lot, and left completely happy! Highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves good food, great wine, and a truly unique adventure. I don’t regret a thing!

We had a great time! Our guide Matteo was engaging and funny the entire time, providing terrific information throughout, even allowing for extra time to take some photos from Piazza Michelangelo on the way home. The farm and our truffle dog Iris and her handler were fantastic. Despite it not being truffle season, Iris found us several truffles. We had an amazing, delicious lunch with produce grown on the farm. The visit to the winery afterwards was equally charming. Our group of just two couples had a fabulous time. We highly recommend this tour. Worth every penny.

Fun day of truffle hunting and wine!

The whole experience was so much fun! Our guide, Niccolò, was fantastic at showing us the sites. He was very nice to talk to and he was so informative about the wine during the wine tasting. The drive to the truffle hunting in San Miniato was about an hour but it was nice to see the countryside. Francesca and her dog levante were great at being our truffle hunting guides. The dog was so sweet and fun to watch him look for truffles. We had a great lunch that was full of truffles. Then we went to the wine tasting and got a tour of the vineyard. Nobody else signed up for the tour, so we had a private tour the whole day. It was a great day, highly recommend.

The most INCREDIBLE day! We had an amazing experience with our guide and our hosts at the estate and at the organic winery were incredible! Our guide Matteo is a sommelier and a historian. He is extremely knowledgeable of the regions and we learned so much! We would definitely do this trip again if we were ever back in Tuscany and I hope we will be someday!

We had a memorable day with our guide Matteo. The drive out to the villa was lovely and he was very informative with facts and history of Florence and Tuscany. We really felt it was a different and authentic experience truffle hunting with Francesca and Chocco the dog. We found 2 rare white winter truffles and our hunt was followed by a delicious Tuscan lunch (with lots of truffle and wine). We learned about life at the villa and were able to sample some their fresh products. We then visited a winery and had a beautiful drive home through the rolling hills.

From the moment Hilary met us in the morning until she dropped us off later in the day, she was a wealth of local knowledge and great company. Between taking us to find the truffles, to the family serving us after the truffle hunt, couldn’t have been any better. My wife and I had the most incredible experience on the truffle hunting and wine tour day in Tuscany! From start to finish, it was a five-star adventure. First, the truffle hunting was a true highlight. Our guide, Andrea, and the truffle hunter, Francesca, were so knowledgeable and passionate about truffles and wine. Watching the skilled truffle dog, Choco, in action was a delight, and when we found those elusive treasures buried in the earth, it felt like striking gold. Francesca's insights into the world of truffle hunting added depth to the experience. After the hunt, we were treated to a gourmet truffle-infused lunch that was nothing short of exquisite. The flavors were out of this world, and the setting was simply enchanting. The wine tour that followed was equally impressive. We visited charming, family-owned wineries where we sampled some of the finest Tuscan wines. Andrea served as our tasting guide and was fantastic at explaining the nuances of each wine we tasted. I can't recommend this truffle hunting and wine tour enough. It was a perfect blend of culinary delight, cultural immersion, and natural beauty. If you want to experience the best of Tuscany, this tour is an absolute must. Five stars without a doubt!

Shout out to our tour hostess, Hillary, who was not only informative, but such fun to be around. Loved Francesca’s hospitality and her adorable truffle sniffer extraordinaire, Choco. Delicious lunch followed by wine tasting and more yummy nibbles. Take advantage of Hillary being a sommelier because she will impart some great wine wisdom! This was the highlight of our trip so far.

One of the most incredible and memorable days ever. The small group environment gave us a personal taste of Italy from a native’s perspective and the charm of Florence came alive for us even more. To watch a purebred dog do his job successfully to find truffles made our day even more amazing. The food, wine, history, and Italian hospitality had us smiling and saying, “This has been one of our most favorite days EVER!” Hillary our guide is an amazing person and we feel blessed to have spent a day with her!!! What a spectacular tour! A full day of history telling and driving through breathtaking windy roads that gave one views that were incredible. Hilary was a force. Intelligent, full of knowledge and a sommelier. Truffle hunting is surely quite luxury. Roaming over 300 acres of grounds, that have been in this family for over 6 centuries, contain truffles, how bougie. We loved every moment of this day. The experience, the dogs, the ambiance, the food, the wines and our host, Hilary.

Hilary was a dream! Not only is she an incredible somm but she also has the most fun personality. We were laughing nearly the entire time. We kicked off the day with Francesca and her truffle hunter dog Choco, who were experienced and gracious hosts. Hilary was a great translator and it was amazing to see Francesca and Choco in action. We found 5 black truffles during our hunt and had a homemade meal made by Francesca afterwards. Francesca makes a mean pasta from scratch and also produces a wonderful white wine (the best white wine we had our entire trip!). We've never had more truffle in our life. Following the hunt we left for another Tuscan village and had a wine tasting + Italian cured meat pairing with Hilary. She explained the different wine regions in Tuscany, how to properly do a tasting, and the differences between wines (ex. between a Chianti Classico and a Super Tuscan). We learned so much and shipped a souvenir box of reds back home to the US. Would do this tour again in a heartbeat. Grazie mille Hilary and Francesca!

Our guide Hilary was exactly what our family needed. We experienced a rare unsatisfactory tour in Venice and needed this one to be up to Viator standards. Hilary far and away exceeded our expectations. She was informative, friendly, genuine and well connected into the truffles hunt experience, wine and Florence culture. Had a great time with Hillary. Truffle hunt was good, they found 4 black truffles. Winter is when the pungent white truffles are dound. Lunch was good and the wine was very good. The wine tasting later was very informative. Hillary definitely knows her wine as well as Tuscan & Italian history.

Had a wonderful day trip into the rolling Tuscan countryside with our charming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Hilary. Hilary was very engaging throughout the day and shared her love and knowledge of the Tuscan traditions during our olive oil, truffle and wine tastings. She brought the region to life as we drove about 50 minutes outside of Florence, with her knowledge of the region’s soil, climate and grape varieties, and also the history and culture. She was able to convey her knowledge to both the beginner and advanced wine aficionado alike in a natural and conversational manner and was very happy to answer questions. Our dog found 4 truffles which were then paired with wines in a homemade meal in beautiful Tuscan farmhouse. After the meal we went to a vineyard to sample varieties of chianti which Hilary explained. Highly recommend Hilary’s tour if you’re in Florence for a few days and want to see the countryside and learn more about the local wine and food traditions.

We had an amazing day with Julia, our tour guide and sommelier! Julia picked us up promptly at our meeting place and drove us to our truffle hunt first. During our drive, Julia taught us about the culture and art of truffle hunting, as well as about wine and olive oil. When we arrived at our destination, we were warmly greeted by Francesca and offered delicious coffee and comfortable muck boots before setting out with Choco, our truffle sniffing dog. Within minutes, Choco found the first white truffle. We hiked along behind Choco and Francesca, watching and learning as they worked together to find a few more truffles. The hike was moderately challenging, but would have been easier in dry weather (it was quite muddy and we were glad for the boots!). Back at Francesca’s home, Francesca and her mother made us a delicious lunch (crostini, warm polenta and pasta—all featuring very generous accents of truffle) while Julia led us through a wine tasting of the estate’s wines. From there, Julia drove us to a beautiful commercial winery. We learned about the winemaking process as we toured the facility, then we sat for a wine tasting. We got to taste 3 of their best-selling wines and paired them with their own bread, olive oil, and meats all made from things grown or raised on-site. Everything was delicious! Julia drove us safely back to Florence and answered all of our remaining questions about everything we could think to ask a local. After a vigorous hike and eating and drinking all day it was hard to stay awake enough to think of good questions, though! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone curious about truffle hunting or just looking to escape Florence for a day in the beautiful countryside. Ask for Julia! She was fun, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable!
