Itinerary
With this independent self-guided e-bike tour, you can benefit from the battery-assisted boost on your bike and directions from a GPS device to easily scale Florentine hills and independently explore the countryside.
Your morning starts at the bike shop on Via Gallo just outside the center of Florence. Get set up on the right bike and take a roughly 45-minute ride to the historic town of Fiesole, where you stop for coffee and catch views of Florence from the town’s monastery.
Afterward, it’s about 40 minutes on your bike to a boutique vineyard near the Arno River, where you sample wines and have a picnic of typical Tuscan products (own expense). After about one hour at the vineyard, head back to Florence. Stop at Piazza Michelangelo, known for panoramic views of Florence, before returning your bike to the shop on Via Gallo

This was a great time on our trip! John was friendly and informative. The ride can be a challenge if you’re not used to riding. The bikes are pedal assist and go to 16 mph. There is a lot of uphill riding so you have to be prepared for that. The area that you will write through is absolutely beautiful! I cannot stress enough. The winery is stunning with very friendly people in good wine. If you’re up for a challenge, I definitely recommend this trip! Make sure to pack some insulated water bottles to refill as you go.

Beautiful scenic views, easy navigation. Vineyard visit was a lovely break (and also a respite from the rain). Our family of 4 really liked this!
My husband and I had a terrific time on this excursion. John was super helpful in describing the route, telling us what to expect, offering safety advice, suggesting places to stop, and helping us feel supported in case something went wrong. (It did not.) The bike ride itself was as beautiful as we expected, with vistas of Tuscany hills and overlooks of Florence. The vineyard was great, and we enjoyed the pool too. Highly recommended!
This was the highlight of our trip! We were provided with everything we needed in order to spend a day biking through the beautiful the countryside - GPS guide, helmets, wonderful easy to used bikes with storage on the back. We biked through the hills just outside the city, stopping to take in the views, enjoy a cappuccino, or stop at the winery for a glass of wine. The independence to follow the guide provided via the GPS allowed us to go at our own pace & felt like a special day planned just for us. We will definitely be booking again!
So Florence is a city of shopping. It’s beautiful. But, getting out of the city and seeing so much of Tuscany, a wine tasting at a vineyard and independently feeling free on e-bikes was the highlight of our trip. John has the route perfectly planned and mapped and the bikes are top tier. My 23 year old son and I LOVED this tour. It’s so fun in the forests, and easy with the e-bikes. Highly highly recommend this tour.
Bike riding through the hills of Tuscany was absolutely gorgeous. We had picked a really hot day so it was a little tough but other than that it was perfect. John was fantastic with explaining everything. The winery is amazing. It’s a must stop.
It’s a beautiful ride through the countryside, not far from the city of Florence. John carefully explains the route before you go, pointing out places of interest, best views, best cake, and where you might miss a turn. The vineyard is the perfect respite for a glass and a snack, and the people there were wonderful.. The app/map was easy to follow and worked without wifi, which was great. Nice bike, comfortable, great condition. Can’t recommend John’s shop, and the experience highly enough.
This self-guided tour of the outskirts of Florence was on of our favs of the entire trip. John was fabulous getting us set-up with top quality E-bikes and digital maps to follow a well designed tour through beautiful Tuscany. Stopped at a vineyard along the way to savour a charcuterie board with delicious wines.
We had an amazing day biking through Tuscany! Certainly the highlight of Florence for myself, my wife, and our two sons (18 and 22).
My wife and I were able to handle the Tuscan hills with ease with the e-bikes. They had powerful motors that assisted our pedaling and while we certainly got a workout, even with the 100F heat were handled it OK. The boys chose to use the electric part sparingly and were definitely feeling it the next day!
The countryside was beautiful. The vineyard was great. The map app was brilliant and easy to follow. So awesome, would not hesitate to recommend!
This gets you out of the city for a day! John was great and has a great sense of humor! We loved every minute of the tour! Be prepared and bring water. There are hills to climb but the e-bike helps tremendously! As long as you know how to use the e-bike you will be fine. The winery is worth the stop! Extremely friendly and the wine was great considering I am not a wine drinker. I just had to try it and I am glad I did. The olive oil is so pure I bought 3 bottles. If you want to get away from the crowd this is a must do. Thank you John!
Hands down one of the best bike rides we have been on and we bike regularly. I am 63 and my friend is 66. We downloaded Maps.me and John's route before we left the states. He gave us clear instructions on bike use and went over route. We ended up joining a wonderful group of 6 Canadian riders, (thanks again) and really enjoyed route. We stopped at Vineyard about half way mark and enjoyed glass of wine and charcuterie board, and a swim for $15 euros/per person.
We went up quite a bit, bikes did great. We went through forests and saw things you would only see from bike. Coming back into Florence we road the streets no problem. Great people, great bikes , great route!!! Highly recommend
The ride is a little strenuous, but doable. The route and views are amazing. We saw Florence in a way we would have never seen in a car and couldn't have reached on foot. And the winery and town were beautiful. It was a fun day!
This was the prettiest bike ride I’ve ever taken and I’m so glad we spent our day in Florence this way! The proprietor of the business, John, was great and explained everything about the bikes to us, as we were all new to using e-bikes.

The owner of the shop was exceptionally helpful. Reviewed the self tour map well and gave us helpful hints for good viewing and trouble spots. The bikes are in excellent condition and he made sure they fit us well before we left the shop

We had a fabulous day getting out of the city and exploring the countryside. The map was easy to follow. The bikes were easy to use. The route winded its way through wine country, a peaceful wooded section and to a vineyard, where we enjoyed a beautiful view, a wine tasting and light lunch. The vineyard staff was super friendly. We enjoyed the ride back to the city along the river. Business owner John was very accommodating. We highly recommend booking!

This was such a great way to spend the day away from the busy crowds in Florence and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Tuscany. Map was easy to follow and bikes were great. Vineyard was perfect spot to rest and refuel. A definite highlight of our trip to Florence.
This is for people comfortable on an ebike and biking on roads. You also need to be comfortable following a GOS map while biking. Given all that… this was probably our favorite activity in Florence! It was great to get into the country side and we loved going at our own pace and stopping wherever we wanted! The views were amazing. The winery was wonderful with some of the best food we had while in Florence! If you like to tour by bike you will love this!!!
Group of three women - two 45 year olds and a 72 year old. The owner did a great job explaining the route with a little presentation. The e-bikes and helmet worked as expected and were set for our height. The vineyard lunch and wine tasting was so special. The hosts are well spoken and thoughtful. We bought a few flights, olive oil tasting, mixed platters for a reasonable price. The city portion of the ride is tricky due to construction but we made it with all limbs intact. We tried to follow locals along that portion of the route which made it more manageable.
John provided us with everything we needed, bikes, helmets, map, video instructions and directions. We had one of our best days in Italy! The ride was challenging but fun, the pastry shop and vineyard were both delightful!
This was on e of my favorite things that we did in Florence. The ride was beautiful, and not difficult. The winery so perfect and the family who owned the winery was so kind and took great care of us. I would absolutely recommend this excursion is you are looking for something fun to do. We left about 1030 and made it back to the bike shop around 330. We had the bikes until 6 so I wish we had stayed a little longer at the winery. Great day!
Highly recommended the self guided bike experience, we had an amazing time! John had us set up and on the road by 10:30, he was available and responsive via WhatsApp throughout the day. The E-bikes are very easy to use, you bike for 10-15 to reach the country roads, and never directly through the most congested streets. Italian drivers are very polite to bikers and allow plenty space when passing. Exploring the towns and taking in the views at our own pace was a highlight of this trip, truly no better way to experience Tuscany and Florence. I’ve done the traditional bus tours in the past, this is 1000% better for those who enjoy being outside and moving at their own pace. Take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy!
Scenic and peaceful views once you are out of the city. Be prepared for inclines and declines. Also gets you a great workout in!
Amazing route to Fiesole, through a forest and then the vineyard which was a great stop. It is a long ride with lots of vertical but the e-bikes make it doable. The shop took care of us and prepared us for a good experience. Not for the casual bike rider.
Super clear instructions that we were able to follow. The e-bikes are amazing! We had only one issue with one of our bikes and John quickly brought a part and we were good to go! No issues. Just make sure your battery is fully charged on your bike before you leave the shop.
What an amazing way to experience Florence. The cycle trip takes you through a small town where you can taste exquisite pastries, through olive groves and forest to a beautiful vineyard where you can enjoy lunch and a wine tasting. Perfecto!

What an amazing experience.
Breathtaking views of Tuscany as you ride through the towns and hills. Some knowledge of e-bikes will make this experience easier. Be aware that there are some steep climbs on this adventure, but well worth the trip to the top!!! I am an average bike rider and completed this tour fine. Pack water and maybe a snack. Your body will need the fuel. Best part is arriving at the Winery 3/4 of the way through the trip.
