We ended up with a private lesson with Francesca and her team, and they were all so warm and hospitable. We learned the history of Sancocho, learned and tasted some of the unique local ingredients, and made the dish together at individual stations. The meal was delicious, and the whole evening was a lot of fun. I would recommend for anyone interested in trying local food, as well as an exciting change from your typical resort fare. Thanks for the wonderful evening!

    Not the Best

    Brenda_R, Apr 2025
Well first it started with pickup confusion but got that resolved. We arrived at the cooking lab and they had us wander their store for a half hour. Our cooking experience then began and it went from bad to worse. There was a group of 6 or 7 employees from Iberostar guessing they were tour reps. Very loud and talked constantly. My husband and I paid good money to be ignored and left to cook on our own mostly. They catered heavily to the Iberoatar reps while mostly ignoring my husband and I who paid for the experience. At the end they had all kinds of swag and gifts for the nonpaying guests from Iberostar and sent us on our way empty handed, the paying guests. I get they were trying to persuade them but it left a poor taste in my mouth so much that I cancelled my chocolate lab experience booked at the same place in two days, right there while we ate our "dinner". I believed the reviews but we got no history, no real cooking and were kind of an after thought. Would not recommend this.

    Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we want to extend our sincere apologies for the disappointment and frustration you encountered. We regret the confusion with the pickup and especially the way you felt during the cooking experience. All of our guests should feel equally valued and attended to, and it’s deeply concerning to hear that this was not the case for you and your husband. While we occasionally host industry guests, they should never take away from the quality or focus of our service for paying participants. Your comments about the lack of engagement, the imbalance in attention, and the overall experience are being taken very seriously. This is not the standard we hold ourselves to, and we are already addressing this internally to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We understand your decision to cancel the upcoming chocolate lab and are processing a full refund for your experience. Again, we’re very sorry for the poor impression this left, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope that one day we’ll have the opportunity to provide you with the experience you originally hoped for. Warm regards,

Ruth was our lovely chef for the day. She explained why each ingredient was used and also engaged in some interesting conversations with us. Food tasted great and we were also treated to a romantic, candle lit lunch which was a rather surprise. 10/10
