This exciting excursion was fantastic! The hike was strenuous but my 6 year old did it. Once at the top we went down probably 5 natural water slides through natural springs. Everyone had a great time. The staff was kind the facilities were clean. Then we had a wonderland lunch prepared for us and tried the local chocolate and rum! Great experience.

Our guide (started with an O) and photographer, Cristopher were great!! The fried fish on buffet was wonderful & I enjoyed the rum & coffee tasting. Definitely worth the money. I’m 61 & will tell you…it’s a steep hike to falls, but our guide stopped plenty of times to give us a breather.

Carmen rocks

Angela_G, Jun 2026
Carmen took excellent care of us. The waterfall tour was an adventure for sure. The chocolate factory tour was very underwhelming. Overall we were happy with the day!

Great adventure at great price!

Karen_A, Jun 2026
Very caring guide for this elderly couple, Galvin, who slowed down so we could access mountain with ease. We made it successfully thru all the waterfalls! Great excursion for a less price than cruise ship!!!

Great Experience! Well worth the time and extream value!

The Team driving, the tour guides, the lunch afterwards were all excellent! I would do this tour again.

Amazing tour! Beautiful sights & excellent food!

Fantastic experience!! We cannot recommend this excursion enough. We were very lucky that they waited for us as our cruise ship was late arriving into Port. It was a small group of just five of us and we had a fantastic time. The fall was an amazing experience. Be prepared for a strenuous hike, but it was great. Bottled water was provided. However, the crown jewel was the food at the local restaurant. It was absolutely delicious. Our tour guide was amazing.

Very enjoyable!

Four of us took this excursion(my husband, 2 teenage kids (18 and 15 y.o.) and myself)). Usually it’s difficult to please everyone in the family but all 4 of us enjoyed the experience a lot! The meeting place was easy to find. The bus was comfortable. Waterfalls were great! Bring your own water shoes if you don’t want a rental opinion. Our shooter guy did a great job taking pictures and videos for us. The lunch was yummy and we liked the local beer.

Book it!

The waterfalls were gorgeous and so much fun!! There was a bit of a hike but we had older women and young kids who all made it easily. Definitely worth it! Tammy was our guide for the day and she was friendly, the car was sooo nice and she had lots of info to share with us on the way there and back.

Beautiful falls and charming hosts

Kristen_B, May 2026
Incredible experience! Our favorite excursion of our cruise. The waterfalls were absolutely stunning and so fun sliding and jumping down them. What really made our experience, though, was our guides - Daniella, William, Chocolate, and Carlos. Daniella was very sweet and knowledgeable, William our great driver. Chocolate and Carlos we absolutely adored! They were SO much fun taking us through the falls, getting great pictures, joking around laughing with us the whole way. The other guides with other groups (Tony) also joked around with us too so all around we just had so much fun. They took great pictures that we appreciated having. The lunch was great, the plantation was small but it’s okay as we were really just there for the falls. We also loved that our group was small, felt very personalized. All around a 10/10 experience!

Take this over the Cruise excursion!

Christian_B, May 2026
The walk up to the waterfalls was indeed a bit difficult which was really nice actually, but just know if you are not used to outdoor activity this will be very difficult. The guides we had for the waterfall tours were amazing along with the photographer and the driver. I do wish the photographer would have let us just buy a couple photos and not all of them but other than that it was super nice. The food stop felt very rushed, but the food was fantastic so it is definitely worth the trade off. The "Plantation" was hardly that. You see more fields during the hike to and from the waterfalls. It really is them just trying to sell you things but it still was pretty nice to see.

If you are in Amber Cove, This Is The Tour!!!

Before I say anything else, I must start by saying this felt like a private guided tour by the best tour guide and driver we have ever had!!! Jonathon was kind, knowledgeable and made us feel like he was taking care of his family, not to mention that he was our own personal photographer. Tami was just as kind and helpful and drove her beautifully clean Honda Civic with amazing skill and safety. We always felt safe and cared for. ***And now to the waterfall. It was a good hike to get there, but soooo worth it. We have been to many waterfalls in many countries but we have never experienced any thing like this. We felt like we were in Jurassic Park. Beautiful plants, fun slides, crystal clear water and options to do 3 meter jumps. It was an overall perfect tour.

Definitely worth the money

Make sure you are in semi good shape and a strong swimmer

Jessica_R, May 2026
1st I would like to say our tour guide Carmen was a blessing, she was attentive ,informative and took very good care of us. The walk to meet her was outside of the Amber cove port about a 10 min walk from the port. There were 4 in our party and we fit perfectly in her vehicle we didn't realize we booked a private VIP excursion. I must say the actual hike to the falls is fairly difficult if you are not in shape or used to hiking. They have you hike in water shoes and your swimsuit, life jacket provided by them and helmet. The terrain is very rough lots of rocks steps and uneven pavement. I would have preferred to have sneakers on because my feet were in so much pain. Once you get to the 1st slide after 35-40min hike the only way back down is going down each waterfall slide. If you are not a strong swimmer I would NOT suggest this for you. The water current was very strong and pulls you under even with the life jacket. I do NOT swin and I thought i thought there was an alternate route down. There is NOT. Needless to say I made it down, with some bumps and bruises but made it. Carmen was waiting for us at the bottom of the falls and took us to have lunch which was delicious. Then we went to a coffee plantation to finish the tour. It was a beautiful experience. We got to taste some amazing coffee and hot chocolate. We also held a tortoise and a parrot. They had a nice gift shop at the end where you can purchase items from the plantation. Carmen drop us at the entrance of the Amber Cove port where we had a 5 min walk back to board our cruise.

Worth it!! Had a great time

Brianna_S, Apr 2026
It was a great experience! We were on a cruise and booked it the day before. I by accident made the reservation for the wrong day and they were accommodating. Moved me to the right date with no issue. We booked for the waterfalls but due to the rain it was closed so we did the buggy adventure. SO MUCH FUN!! We stopped at a local cigar / chocolate factory where they gave us free cigars to try, and then to a secluded beach. Also had included lunch which was delicious. Would definitely reccomend booking with DR tours, all the tour guides were helpful and kind.

This was an absolute blast, and by far my boyfriend and I’s favorite excursion we did. There was a bit of a hike up to the waterfalls (you must go up to be able to come down haha!) but there were plenty of spots to rest along the way. The guides were super great, and helpful, and they provided us helmets, life jackets, and bottled water. The natural water slides were SO much fun, and you go pretty quickly down them. The last waterfall you get to, you can either jump (about 18ft), slide down (with about a 6 foot drop), or climb down the stairs. My boyfriend and I chose to jump and it was SO much fun! While we both know how to swim, there were guides in the water helping pull us out of other people’s way as others made their way down the slides / jump. This is definitely something I would do again!

Awesome Experience

Tamika_M, Apr 2026
Had an absolute blast with the Choco Latte family. Daniella, Jonathan, Emil and Choco Latte were awesome. Daniella meet us outside of Taino Bay and guide us to our transportation. The bus had AC, was clean and well equipped. They provided water upon arrival. Daniella provided some DR facts during the ride and we listened to some DR music. The hike is about 30-40 min, but you get multiple breaks. Sliding down the waterfalls was exciting and awesome. This was my first time doing an excursion like this. My recommendation. Get some good water shoes with thicker soles, as you will be walking across rocks. It is best if you know how to swim because when you slide down the waterfall you will go underwater. You do have a life vest, so you will float, but knowing how to swim prepares you for how to react once you hit the water. We did 3 smaller water slides and one long one that was 18ft high. You have the option to slide or jump and they even have stairs to climb down. There were several kids that were terrified and climbed down during my excursion. I would definitely do it again. After we left the waterfalls, we had a Dominican lunch at a restaurant. The food was delicious. Next we visited a small farm were they rolled cigars. We had the mammajana drink, tasted chocolate and did a little but of shopping. Over all a really good experience. The excursion is just as described. Also, we paid a lot less booking through Viator instead of the cruise ship.

Loved it!

Chelsie_S, Mar 2026
We LOVED our experience on this excursion! The staff was very helpful and attentive. Definitely worth the money and they even had someone to take photos for us so we didn’t need to worry about that part. Chocolate did such a great job with the photography. Absolutely recommend trying it out!

Went on this excursion with my twins 12 year old boy/girl. We loved this excursion but be prepared for the more than 30 minute hike. The sliding and jumping was awesome. Make sure you have extra money to buy the photos.

Excellent and safe excursion!

What a wonderful experience and a wonderful price. We had a great driver. Excellent guides at the waterfalls. Delicious food and we got to shop for mamajuana, chocolate, coffee and larimar

I’m traveling with a group of friends and we all had amazing time doing the waterfall hike! Our driver/guide William was so nice, and our waterfall tour guides Cecilo and Galvin were hilarious. They did a great job making sure everyone was having a good time while staying safe. It’s definitely with the extra money to get the add on paparazzi package. Luis did an amazing job taking photos for us. He got great action shots, lots of candids, and had great suggestions for different poses while we were hiking!

Great excursion!

We booked our excursion with DRprime through Viator and had an incredible experience from start to finish. We met Daniela right outside the port in front of the police station, and from there everything was well organized and smooth. Transportation was in a comfortable air-conditioned van, and they went above and beyond with hospitality—providing free water, beer, rum shots, cigar and chocolate tastings, and even a delicious Dominican Republic lunch. The waterfalls themselves were absolutely beautiful. The hike up and down is definitely strenuous, but it’s completely worth it. Our tour guide was great about pacing the climb and made several stops along the way so everyone could rest and hydrate. One of the highlights was the optional 18-foot jump off the waterfall. It was terrifying in the moment, but incredibly satisfying to conquer that fear! If jumping isn’t your thing, there’s also a fast natural waterfall slide that’s just as fun. Our cameraman, Chocolate, was fantastic. He captured every moment and took amazing photos and videos throughout the adventure. We were able to purchase all of our photos and videos for $50, which was absolutely worth it. If you’re looking for a fun cultural adventure while visiting the Dominican Republic, this excursion is a great choice. Just be prepared—the hike is no joke, so being in decent shape will definitely help. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we would highly recommend it!

Perfect way to spend a port stop

Kristin_D, Feb 2026
This was the perfect excursion to experience the beauty of the D.R. on a cruise. We were communicated with leading up to the cruise, which was extremely helpful in ensuring we found the correct meeting spot. We cruised on the Norwegian Aqua and it was about 10 minute walk to the meeting point. There were supposed to be others coming, but the crew assured us we would leave on time and we did, after giving the other guests who were running late one last chance to meet up. Along the ride, our guide Danielle provided insightful information about the landmarks as we drove by. It was about a 30 minute drive to the waterfalls, and we arrived in plenty of time. The waterfall hike took about 30-40 minutes with plenty of rest breaks, and we were provided with lifevests and helmets. The water was COLD (granted I’m from California, and not at all cold-tolerant, but it was still shocking since it wasn’t a particularly warm day (74F and overcast). I wished I’d brought a dry pair of clothes and a sweatshirt to change into. We took advantage of the photographers, which we found to be well worth the $20pp and ended up with a flash drive of over 100 photos and videos. After the waterfall adventure, we loaded back up and went to a nearby cafe for a local Dominican lunch, which was absolutely delicious! We ate food and drank local beer, then finished our trip at a local plantation. There, we tasted Dominican rum, chocolates, coffee, and they sold cigars and other souvenirs. We were delivered back to the port around 12:30, which was ample time to get back on the ship before our 2:30pm departure.

Fun!

Mark_C, Feb 2026
So much fun - 100% ‘must try’ excursion! Four of us, all about 70 years old, LOVED every minute of this experience. Water slides and leap were invigorating, lunch excellent, our host William terrific!

Awesome!

Delane_O, Feb 2026
It was an awesome excursion!! There is a fair amount of stairs to climb but the guides took several breaks. The water was cold but got used to it quickly. The guides were extremely helpful and made safety a priority at all times. There were alternatives if you didn’t want to go the tall jump off, you could do the rock slide or ladder down.

Best excursion EVER!

Deenah_T, Feb 2026
By far the best excursion we have ever booked! William, our driver, was very attentive, got us to and from our destination on time and was so considerate ensuring we all had ample water and even provided plastic bags for our wet clothes. The tour itself was phenomenal. Be warned , it is quite the hike to get to the waterfalls but it is 1000% worth it. Our guides Alian and Almaro were amazing and provided help and encouragement along the way. GET THE PHOTO PACKAGE! Worth every penny! Not only did they capture all of the fun moments of sliding and jumping down the falls, they took time to take photos of scenery and signs along the way. The types of photos you would typically take yourself had you brought your phone. It was soooo nice to not have to worry about taking photos and just be able to enjoy the moment. After hiking the falls William drove us to the most delicious lunch spot. Every bite was delicious and tasted home cooked. Beer and soda was served with lunch as well. Following lunch we had a great time at the local cigar and chocolate factory. Enjoyed tasting some local spirits and munched on chocolate samples while the guys enjoyed a cigar. There were plenty of shopping opportunities for souvenirs and jewelry as well and we ended up taking several bottles of local spirits home with us. William then brought us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. It was all in all a fantastic day and I would recommend 10/10!

The best excursion ever!

Anonymous, Feb 2026
Alex and his team was amazing!!! They were very accommodating for my group and I. It ended up that our ship was an hour ‘late’ due to time change and they waited 1hr to for us to come by, the bus was spacious and they provided water for the road and water for the hike. They have a couple of photographers who take all the photos of the excursion which is totally worth it - so you don’t need to bring your phone. We even left our items in the bus so we didn’t need to buy lockers from the actual location. The lunch place we stopped at had delicious Dominican Republic lunch and soft drinks. I got confused with the ship time and the island time and Alex assured me he will get our group on time to the ship - delivered and promised! Next time I’m booking with him for snorkeling & lunch excursion as well :)

Thrilling and so much FUN!

cindy_L, Jan 2026
Wonderful excursion! The hike to the falls was approximately 45minutes and was not for people that don’t have some physical ability to hike uphill for 45 minutes. I wore closed toe Keen sandals that can get wet and they were perfect since they have a gym shoe tread. Others in the group had regular water shoes which were not as comfortable and they could feel the rocks through them. I was nervous about the waterfall slides, but I absolutely loved them. Everyone wore helmets and life vests which kept us safe. I highly recommended this excursion! Daniella, shooter, and the other guides really watched over us, assisted us as we went down the slides, and made sure we were safe. Our small excursion group of 5 people were all between ages 60 and 70 and we all managed the hiking and waterfalls just fine, but we do hike regularly. Our group was combined with a larger group of probably 50 people but it didn’t seem too big. There isn’t a way around most of the slides (except for the largest one) so be prepared to go down the slides, get wet and have a lot of FUN!!

This was an extremely great excursion for me, my wife, and my mother-in-law! I highly recommend! If we visit again I will be going with them again no hesitation!!

10/10 Would Yeet Myself Down Waterfalls Again

Sun_I, Jan 2026
🚐 Calvin, our driver, was on point — on time, super friendly, and got us there and back smoothly (no cliff-edge dramatics, just good vibes and safe driving). 🧗‍♂️ Ezekiel, our on-site guide, was an absolute LEGEND. Equal parts safety expert, hype man, and “you got this” coach. He made sure everyone felt comfortable before every jump, slide, and moment of questioning our life choices. The hike up is a workout — expect sweat, laughs, and at least one internal monologue about cardio. But once you start sliding and jumping down the waterfalls? Pure adrenaline and nonstop smiles. Screaming is encouraged. Looking graceful is optional. The water was refreshing, the views were unreal, and the whole experience made us feel like jungle adventurers who definitely earned that nap afterward. The Dominican lunch was delicious, and the coffee/chocolate/rum stop was the perfect reward for surviving the falls. If you like adventure, laughter, and great guides who actually care about your safety, book this tour. Huge shout-out to Calvin and Ezekiel for making it unforgettable. Would 100% do it again. 😄🌴
