Cultural Overview all in one place

    Andrea_D, Jun 2026
We really enjoyed the history and experiences . This is a quality tour with everything in one place. Tchaikovsky was very knowledgeable and a great host. The culinary experience, lunch and private tour was worth it. Definitely recommend. Well done.

Thank you so much Andrea! We are so glad you enjoyed Dominicania and it was our pleasure to share our culture with you! Kovski is definitely one of our stars and we’ll let him know of your review!

A slice of DR culture packed into one experience

    Rosanna_U, Jun 2026
I truly wanted to experience a bit of the DR culture while vacationing and we got that at Dominicana. We booked the 9AM slot (the earliest slot) and it practically was a private tour for my family (4 people). If you are looking to step into the DR culture and also souvenir shopping, this place has the best prices and knowledge/history broken down for you. We had Alexander take us around with many knowledgable staff in their house of expertise at each location we stopped by. Started with a brief history lesson in cacao and the processing. We got to taste a range from 100% to 39% cacao chocolate. Cacao powder is RD$660, Cacao Shells RD$440, chocolate bars RD$440. You can also purchase cacao based drinks. There were 2 dance performances that were full of energy. A coffee history lesson to tasting a Dominicano. Price for a small bag is $10USD, Regular sized ranging from $14-20USD for premium. We got a briefing of the Larimar stone and the transformation into jewellery. You can even try polishing a stone if you'd like. There is a ring that is a 2-in-1 that flips around to either showcase the marimar or amber which my cousin really liked but didn't get. My group doesn't smoke but the cigar store was cool to see the variety and the process of making cigars from start to finish. The Rum tasting was also a fun little experience. My cousin wish they had small travel size bottles to purchase but they sold out. The rum here isn't available in other touristy areas. Golf & Baseball are huge in DR so we got to try both simulators. We got to taste cassava made into many forms. We got to decorate a traditional hand woven straw hats (available for purchase) Final spot was where we had a small snack (empanada & beverage). You can also buy more snacks and drinks. Overall a wonderful experience that my cousins also really enjoyed. Left DR with a tan, some treats and a bigger glimpse of DR culture.

Thank you so much for this beautiful and detailed review — this is exactly what Dominicania is all about! We love that you chose the early slot and got that near-private experience with Alexander and the team. He truly is one of the best at what he does, and we'll make sure he knows you said so. You touched on almost every corner of the experience — from the cacao journey to the dances, the larimar, the rum, the simulators, the cassava, and finishing at the colmadón. That tan + those treats + a deeper connection to Dominican culture? That's the perfect combination to leave with. We noted the feedback on the travel-size rum bottles — noted and passed along! Tell your family they are always welcome home at Dominicania.

All in one cultural tour of DR

    Raquel_V, Jun 2026
Recently opened cultural park offering hands on experiences and demonstrations of Dominican history, art, sports and industry. The tour takes about 4 hours and you see various production processes from start to finish - cigars, coffee, chocolate, casave and rum. All with tastings. You can also try your hand at decorating your own straw hat, golf putting and baseball batting. Each activity is tied to a shop where you can purchase products at the end of the instructional activity with no pressure to buy. This is a really nice educational activity. Children may not enjoy it as much, but it's perfect for adults, elderly and disabled as the area is flat and there is seating to rest.

    Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you do much Raquel! We appreciate your visit and your review! We hope to see you again sometime and we will definitely evaluate adding more activities for the younger children!
