Best experience in Cairo. Run by an actual local family just out of passion, not a tour company, very genuine and no scams. Highly recommend trying it. Good sampling of many local dishes in restaurants you would never find or go to as a tourist. Great time!

This was an unexpected highlight of our 5 days in Cairo. We wanted to experience things through the eyes of local people & this tour was perfect. Ahmed, Sharouk & family were the perfect hosts. We were over during Ramadan so our tour was an education on whats eaten and drunk during the period, really interesting and helped give us an understanding of what was going on around us. We were taken to some amazing eateries (which we wouldnt have found ourselves) given information on the dishes as well as the culture. Both Ahmed & Sharouk were very warm hosts giving just the right amount of information to keep things interesting but never overwhelming. They and their kids were very good company. The food was delicious and plentyful with an left over going to those in need. We left the evening nicely stuffed & full of happiness for our experience. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our tour with our local guide Ahmed.
He was passionate about Egyptian food. We visited local food stalls/eateries and sat amongst the local people. Everything was interesting and the food was great.

If you’re coming to Cairo, do not miss going on this tour. Book this tour before you book any pyramid tours it was absolutely outstanding. Ahmed was authentic and not only did you learn about food but you learnt about the culture. The tour lasted nearly 4 hours and the amount of food we had was so much that in the end we had to say so please stop feeding us. I think this is one of the best things I’ve ever done and I would strongly suggest you’re going. He also runs cooking classes which I would’ve loved to have done but didn’t know about. Here’s a kind warm person who communicates fantastically.

This was such a fun experience. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teens. We loved our time on the tour. Our guide was kind, attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, our daughter wasn't able to finish the tour and we ended up having to leave before the conclusion of the tour. We all would absolutely book this experience again.

This was amazing. My wife and I had such a wonderful time with Shorouk. Shorouk took us to many places to try the local food and we could not have been in better hands. We also asked a lot of questions about culture and life in Egypt and she was more than happy to answer them all. Would recommend this to anyone that would like to learn more from a local.

Ahmed and his family were delightful. The whole family guided us on our tour since there were 2 kids of similar age on the tour. We ate so much traditional egyptian food that we were about to burst! We had a great time swapping stories and getting to know everyone on the tour. This is a great intro to egyptian food and is highly recommended.

We meet Ahmed at a smoothie bar where we tried a few traditional Egyptian drinks which started our food tour off with a sweet touch! We then moved to a close by restaurant for several dishes meant for the evening meal in Egypt, things we'd never necessarily order without the expertise and knowledge from Ahmed, we didn't just have food though.. Ahmed is extremely knowledgeable on the history of Egypt, not just the food either, this guy has a wealth of knowledge which we soaked up all evening! We chatted along the way to the 3rd spot for morning and afternoon meals, followed by a traditional snack, Egyptian BBQ and finally the most tasty dessert I've had since being here! During our time with Ahmed he was incredibly welcoming, friendly and made us feel so comfortable. This wasn't just a food tour it was an experience with the best host! We left with mangos in hand, which were bought during the experience and Ahmed even treated us to our first ever tuktuk ride back to our meeting spot to grab a taxi back to our hotel. My brother and I couldnt recommend his food tour/experience enough, it'll be an experience we talk about for a long time and suggest to anyone we know that makes the visit to such an incredible country!

I have done a lot of food tours in many countries and I have to say that this food tour with Ahmed is one of the BEST I have ever done. From the moment you book the tour Ahmed's excellent communication and kindness is apparent. Ahmed immediately puts you at ease, sharing interesting facts and stories, getting to know you and showing genuine care for people all around him. The food was amazing, you get so FULL and get to try lots of traditional dishes in local run restaurants. If you want a wonderful evening filled with great company, interesting conversation and fantastic food then look no further!

Ahmed is a gracious host / representative for his city and land and has, without giving away all the secrets and surprises, concocted a charming trip through the streets of Cairo... all the while exploring in perhaps the greatest way possible... by way of our stomach!
The outing is stitched together in a most thoughtful way and includes several awesome surprises along the way.

Thank you Ahmed for a wonderful food tour in downtown Cairo. The tour includes a mix of street food stalls and family-run eateries covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and sweet foods typical for the locals. It connects you to modern Misr through food culture that can sometimes be overshadowed by more touristy Ancient Egypt. Ahmed was an excellent guide, knowledgable, hospitable and accommodating for dietary restrictions (plenty of vegetarian options to have!). We loved our tour with Ahmed, this is a must do in Cairo to see the real side of the local life and food! Ahmed was very kind and accomodating, it was great to spend time with him and learn about Egypt and its people. The establishments he took us too were authentic Egyptian restaurants and we had a great time trying the different tasty foods and were left very full at the end of the night. This is a must do experience and I can highly recommend Ahmed and his family to host!

My husband and I were huge foodies and we always make sure to join a food tour in every country we visit. We were glad to have picked this tour. Ahmed and Shorouk took us to places only locals go and introduced all the special dishes that the vendors do with great passion. We tried lots of different things and the portions were more than ample. It felt so special as if we had some local friends showing us around their neighborhood. They also stayed in touch after the tour and made sure we knew we could ask them anything about Cairo. We got some great restaurant recommendations from them as well and we went to try the local delicacy stuffed pigeons, which was super delicious. Would really recommend going on a tour with them first thing you get to Cairo!
