What are people saying about Memphis

Pleasant and wondrous experience
I had a very pleasant experience with my tour guide Shahenda and driver Yasser. Shahenda was knowledgeable on the history of the sites we visited (Saqqara, Dahshur, and Memphis). She carefully explained the sites and allowed time for questions. You may have a quiz at the end, so make sure you pay attention. It was wonderful to see and enter some of the pyramids. Truly a step into ancient history and another civilization.

Excellent tour and guide
The older pyramids are more interesting and less crowded than the major pyramids. Plus there is no fee to go inside. We saw the red, bent and step pyramids which were very nice to visit. Memphis is not worth the entrance fee so I would not go unless you have a Cairo pass. Would recommend a guide as the driver only does not speak English.

A ten star experience
I would give our guide ten stars if Viator allowed it! He went well beyond his standard duties to ensure our half-day tour of the Giza necropolis, Saqqara, and Memphis was exceptional. Not only was his knowledge impressive, but he also genuinely looked out for us—expertly steering us clear of the usual tourist traps and guiding us toward the real highlights. It was a remarkably comfortable and memorable experience.

Day trip
Driver was prompt for pick up, and very helpful during the trip to Saqqara, Dashur, and Memphis, a safe bet for anyone that is interested!

Cairo
Alabaster Sphinx of Memphis near the remains of Memphis, Egypt.
  • Memphis is a must-see for fans of ancient Egypt.

  • The attractions at the Mit Rahina open-air museum are sculptures, not architectural remains of the former city.

  • Some pieces from Mit Rahina will move to Giza's Grand Egyptian Museum, slated to open in 2020.

  • Mit Rahina is flat but sandy, possibly challenging for travelers who use wheelchairs or strollers.
