They did not pick me up at the hotel but will not refund my money.
I was stuck in Cairo for the following day so I booked this excursion. I was at a hotel with a doorman and security. No one came to pick me up. No communication. Phone number was out of order.
I suggest you confirm trip with local guide before the pick up time. If you can’t call viator. As it was 6 am i could not do they and there is no refund.

Mervat, our driver, and Mahah aman, our tour guide, were wonderful! Very helpful and friendly. Mahah really knew her stuff. They did a great job. The food at the restaurant we ate at for lunch had delishish food, too. A great experience!

Massive day exploring Alexandria. Our tour guide was so lovely and went out of his way to ensure our comfort. He was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. It was a great day!

The tour was very interesting and fun. Our guide took us to historical places and we ate on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.

Hotel pick up for 3 people was 2.5 hours LATE! We were picked up in Cairo by a driver and met our tour guide in Alexandria who HARDLY SPOKE ENGLISH! POOR TOUR We were booked on the LET’S EXPLORE EGYPT tour company and ZINE TRAVEL EGYPT showed up? We were promised compensation and we have not received anything from VIATOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. In fact they has not even responded despite many calls and emails. We deserve a FULL REFUND for this very DISAPPOINTING BEST ALEXANDRIA DAY TOUR!!

Thank you to Saed for a wonderful day in Alex!!! The monuments and the people were super nice and then we went to eat at the fish market and I want to eat there everyday now! Couldn’t have had a better time!

Long way trip but enjoyable. Limited places to visit (only 3 places) which we didn't know when booking-disappointed.

This was a waste of time and money. All 3 sights could be experienced in an hours time. The guide did the very least he could. His English was minimal. The car had trash in it. The worst, and I've been on a lot of guided tours, so I should know.

I was disappointed by this tour. I understand it was a long drive and I will complete admit that I did not purchase the lunch included portion but it was advertised as a 12 hour tour and I was back in less than 8 hours. It felt skimpy and over sold. I picked this tour because it was advertised as longer to meaning more time in Alexandria but it turned out to be very short we were in the city for less than 2 hours. Pretty disappointed.

The operator did not show up at the hotel in morning. Sent multiple messages over whatsapp and also tried calling but no response. Could see that operator read messages on whatsapp but never responded. Pick another operator. Viator tram thankfully responded but rather than trying to contact operator, asked me to reschedule with same operator. Still haven't received refund after 2 days.

We did not enjoy the trip. Decided to tour on our own as the experience was subpar. If possible would never had booked the tour.

Most of the trip was the ride there and back, and unfortunately the guided part of the tour only began when we arrived and lasted for the three sites that we visited before lunch. The catacombs were interesting and the ruins of the library. The fort had a nice view of the water. But it seemed to go by quickly. Our guide explained well and took many photos of us but it seemed like a missed opportunity to be spending five hours in the car with a qualified Egyptologist and not learn more about Egypt or Alexandria in general. Probably would be best for people looking for some instagram memories at the three locations and a nap there and back. Lunch was at a pleasant enough seafood restaurant.

Mohammed Moussa was a very nice and helpful guide. He talked about the history and culture of Egypt. He answered all of our questions and was very entertaining. Our driver Saeed was so nice and chill. Couldnt have asked for a better guide and driver.
Troy_A, Jul 2022
I found the catacombs to be the most interesting part of the tour. Be sure and walk around and see as much as you can.The drive is kinda cool, seeing the countryside.

Getting splashed by the Mediterranean Sea at Fort Qaitby was unforgettable. The lunch was delicious overlooking amazing views of the Mediterranean after the catacombs and the Pompey’s Pillars tour. The Alexandria tour was insightful and memorable apart from personal experience with the tour guide. His tour guide style was not as informative as other guides on this trip. However a memorable experience was had.

Nice trip - our guide Sobhy was great. We would recommend it if you have interest in history. Worth the money

It was a good trip, I would recommend to everyone. There is lots to see and the sea food lunch was delicious.

About the operator: I do not recommend "Lets Explore Egypt Tour". My tour was a private tour. Started 3 hours late. Had I not been persistent in reaching out to him, the tour would not happen at all! Pick up was supposed to be at 7 am. 7.06: I texted the tour operator. He said my guide will be in the lobby. 7:17, I texted him again. He said maybe my driver can’t find me because I said it’s a hotel when it’s actually a hostel. 07:32, I asked the hotel reception to call him. He said the driver will come in 5 min. 07:47, he’s still not there. I asked the hotel to call him again. He said he’s got an accident but he’s sending another driver 'as soon as possible'. When I asked what he meant by 'as soon as possible' he did not specify. OK, fine. 08:15 the (new) guide texted me saying another driver will pick me up. He’s coming in 40 min. 08:55 I texted the (new) guide again. 09:46 finally I met the driver. Then we had to get out of our way to pick him up (the new guide) in Giza so we lost another half hour there.
Note: My guide, Ahmed, is a free-lance guide, and is not employed by the tour operator. He's got nothing to do with the delay of the tour.
About Alexandria: We spent 3 hours to visit Biblioteca Alexandria (a new modern building to replace the old one), the Qaitbay Fort (that replaced the old grand Pharos Alexandria) and Catacomb Kom Al Shoqofa, which is very interesting but in general nothing really spectacular in Alexandria. The ride to Alexandria was 2.5 hours, the ride back to Cairo was 4 hours because of the traffic (and to drop of my guide in Giza). The city is about the same as Cairo. There are nice, luxurious parts, but just behind the posh buildings (and in most parts) you see dilapidated apartments that are in a bad need of cleaning, refurbishing, repainting and maintenance. Traffic jams, rubbish, potholes every where.

I give 3 starts because I feel sorry for the lady and everything personal that she shared. But 1) she was too pushy trying to sell us a boat tour to see Alexandria from the sea, that was nice but it was 40 dollars over the 90 that we paid and we didn’t have cash. So we explained to her we didn’t have cash it was our last day so we were out of cash so she pretty much told us that if we don’t do the boat ride the tour was pretty much over because there was nothing else to do. I told her what do you mean we paid 90 dollars for this tour to see the lighthouse (or at least where it used to be) the library etc so after i told her that she took us there. 2) she was pushy trying to take us to eat where she wanted and we don’t eat seafood so we wanted to eat somewhere else , she told us that she couldn’t because her company had a contract with the place she was pushing. 3) my friends and I were talking about the Covid test to come home and she jumped In the conversation trying to sell us another place for the Covid test. 4) we went to the library and after repeatedly saying not to the restaurant that she was pushing we end up eating in the library’s café which was pretty good, over there we got the news that our flight coming home was cancelled and we didn’t had a hotel or flight back so we were stressed trying to figure thing out and she continued pushing us to buy thing, this time she was trying to sell us Egyptian cartourch she didn’t care we were not paying attention to her because we were doing something else she continued talking and selling 4) she was lost , she didn’t explained things correctly, I’m not a specialist but I do know a few things and there were something that she said that were incorrect. I do not recommend this company for the tour.

Was not happy with the tour. I wish we did it on our own by train because we were stuck in a traffic jam for hours and then we felt really rushed through all the sights. On top of that, we were pushed to purchase an overpriced lunch because of which we missed the opening times to the library, our main reason to visit Alexandria. I told them several times that we don’t want the lunch if we are short on time and even asked them to leave it for last, but they refused and assured us that it will be fine, which it wasn’t. We did not enjoy the food either, we ate very fast and did not even finish the meal as we were not happy with the taste. Also, the prices on the menu were 3 times lower than what we paid in advance to the guide.

We deeply appreciated our guide Paula who was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the tour. The is a bit long with a 3 hour ride each way from Cairo. This would have been more tolerable if the vehicle was larger. 4 men with in a BYD F3 which was somewhat uncomfortable. We had no water and the driver did not use the AC throughout the trip. The guide was also a bit confused about our itinerary as he asked us to show what was on out booking. In addition for the $300 we paid for both of use we had a hamburger for lunch which we thought was a little uncharacteristic of a cultural tour like this. Overall it was a 12 hour trip which might be necessary but made for a pretty long day

Nour, our guide and Hany, the driver, have been extremely kind and helpful during the tour.
We were only my girlfriend and us, so we traveled to alexandria with a car. They bought a delicious egyptian breakfast for us, and the trip was very pleasant.
Once in Alexandria we visited the places we agreed (Catacombs, pompei's pillar, the fort and the outdoors of the Library) and Nour explained the main characteristics of each place. The only thing I wasn't totally happy, hence the 4 stars, is that I'd expect more explanations, especially at pompei's pillar and the fort, I really didn't feel I learned as much as I'd expect from an experienced guide.
My girlfriend and I also had a chance to do a small tour alone in Alexandria, again Nour and Hany have been so kind to wait for us.

Doaa was eager, knowledge, great communicator, accommodating, and very diligent.
The tour was very enjoyable with her broad knowledge about Egyptian history and culture.

What an INCREDIBLE experience. Mohamed was our guide to Alexandria on November 3rd, 2021 and we could not have had anyone better! Not only was his English excellent, but he also went above and beyond to make the long trip from Cairo interesting and comfortable. He made sure we did what WE wanted to do as well as some of his recommendations for sights in Alexandria. We ended up going to the library of Alexandria and gazed over the manuscripts. Such a surreal and incredible experience. I highly recommend booking with this company as they lead you on a PRIVATE tour with just your group (ours was only 2 of us), do not hassle for a tip at the end, and take you to an AMAZING place to eat lunch! Ask for Mohammed, and you will not regret a thing! Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

A lot of walking definitely got my exercise for the day. My driver and guide were amazing, friendly, and welcoming!

We had a lovely day in Alexandria, and Ahmed was great about telling us many things about Egypt and Alexandria. Only thing we didn’t get to do that we were supposed to be able to do was see the new library in Alexandria. We booked this tour on June 17, 2021, but were told that only so many tickets are available each day. I have trouble believing that booking over 2 months ahead in the off season isn’t enough to get tickets to see what is advertised that we paid for.

great experience! I was lucky to have Mimo as my guide for a 2nd time. I highly recommend this tour.
Rachel_P, Jul 2021
Unfortunately the day started off stressful as a miscommunication happened somehow between Viator and the Tour Company. My guide was never given my hotel pick up information until the morning of despite my calling Viator and messaging the Tour Company a few days before my tour confirming my details. I ended up getting picked up, after several frantic What’s App calls 1.5 hours late.
After that stress, everything else went perfectly! My guide was amazing! He knew so much about Ancient Egypt, but was able to explain in a way I understood. The driver was skilled, always there with the car, letting us easily go from one destination to another. (Pack headphones for the drive to Alexandria) I felt safe traveling around as a solo female traveler.
I do recommend this tour, but try to confirm your guide has your hotel information beforehand to avoid my frustrating start. Im not marking down my rating as the guide and drive did amazing and deserve recognition, just the office staff somehow dropped the ball.
