Mohammed is friendly and knowledgeable and has a way of framing historical context. You’re in good hands with Mohammed. Be sure to bring some small Egyptian pounds (50s) for the toilet.

Great day out experience the cultural and spiritual places of the old city in Coptic Cairo. This was a private tour and my guide Heba Was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly and made the tour very interesting and also had all the answers for all my questions. I throughly enjoyed it and it’s definitely a must do if you want to know more about the holy sites in the city

Personally, I found this experience underwhelming. The sites were okay but not properly maintained. This was promoted as an “ all day tour” but mine lasted just about 3 hours and I was back at my hotel. I guess the fact that I declined any side trips to vendors explains the difference between the advertised duration of the tour and my experience.
Not too happy with the tour provider. The company did not communicate b with me to confirm the pickup time. When the guide arrived to pick me up, he spent about 15 minutes trying to get money from the ATM at my hotel. My trip included “bottle water” but none was offered until I asked for it. In response, my guide said he would provide that “later” but the driver came to the rescue and gave me a bottle of water.
Upon arriving at the first site ( Muhammad Ali’s mosque, my guide said to me: “ I know you paid for the entry fee with your booking, but I don’t have cash to pay for the ticket; would you pay and I’ll give you back the money.” Of course, I refused to do so. I guess he found a way to get the ticket. I got the feeling of being hustled. Also, at the same site, I went to the ladies room with a sign that says: “no tipping required but highly appreciated.” The ladies at the entrance insisted I give a tip before going into the bathroom. All these made my tour experience not so pleasant.

Ishaq was a great guide and explained the history of each place really well. I was really impressed by the Muhammad Ali mosque in particular. We were able to take our time and never felt rushed. Overall, a great day.

If you want to get the best from Cairo in one day, this is the tour to go for! Our guide Amira was excellent! She’s an Egyptologist and was very knowledgable. She was one of the best guides we had during our time in Egypt and would recommend the tour with her to everyone. Our driver Mohammed was very good and polite as well. He came about 15 minutes before the scheduled time and drove us safely through the crazy traffic in Cairo and back to our hotel in Giza. We booked just Car and Guide and there were no problems with buying the tickets on-site. Even in high season there were no queues and you can pay by card everywhere, except the 50E£ car fee to the Citadel.

I booked this activity not really knowing what to except and kill half a day in Cairo. But I have to say I found it extremely interesting (I’m not religious BTW), and my guide was great. It was nice to see the prettier side of Cairo and explore some magnificent building in a calm and relaxing way. Adam

It covers very interesting aspects of old Coptic Cairo including seven churches, a synagogue and three mosques. They were all beautiful to see and had great histories. The tour involves extensive walking. A lovely lunch was included. Our tour guide Ali could have shown more interest than he did, but our driver Amir negotiated through Cairo beautifully. Be prepared for the car ride of a lifetime as Cairo streets defy description.

First off, I want to say my guide and my overall tour experience + driver were very pleasant and attentive. My issue is with Emo tours. I originally signed up for the Nile cruise lunch option. I was not taken to the Nile and was taken to a restaurant in the middle of town. None of the waiters spoke English and when my tour guide went to the restroom the waiters MOVED MY PLATE so that I would be sitting with the Chinese tourist group. I want to stress I am half Asian and not just me but my mother was born in America…. When I attempted to correct the waiters they told me they did not speak my language. I want to note the language I was speaking was ENGLISH as I do not even know Chinese. Anyways, I reached out to Emo saying that I needed a partial refund since my lunch was nowhere near the Nile and they ignored me, blocked me, and then rejected my refund. Thank you to the viator support team for sorting this out afterwards. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. Seriously horrible management.

*SCAM ALERT*
-AVOID EMO TOURS AT ALL COSTS-
Short answer:
-"PRIVATE" TOUR IS A SCAM: You pay for private, but they will force other private groups to join with you using different drivers (which significantly delays the tour!).
-GUIDE READ OFF CHATGPT: The guide was unfamiliar with the mosques and churches. She used her phone to read and would not take questions. She later admitted that she didn't know anything about the places on the tour. (When Emo Tours was told this, they said this does not constitute a failure of services, which is crazy).
Longer Analysis:
-Emo Tours was a DISASTER. Our guide was late, and when she showed up we got lost on our way to the first stop. The driver asked for help, but she was on ChatGPT looking up facts. At this point, we're not bothered. It's Egypt, we expected some messiness.
-When we arrived at our first stop, we were told another group would be joining us. I mentioned that we paid for private, but that we understood that it's not the guide's fault and we'd just talk to the tour group later. It wasn't the end of the world for us, and we know it wasn't on the tour guide to make that choice.
-It took almost 30 minutes for the second private group to arrive and join us. The guide was reading ChatGPT while we waited.
-When we started the tour, she'd give us 2-3 sentences about something and not answer questions. The guy in the other group happened to be Egyptian and asked a few things with no luck, quickly realizing that the guide had no actual information.
-She tried to walk us past a mosque and the other group went crazy, saying it was a must see from history. The guide didn't know what it was and her English was so limited that she just let us go inside while she waited outside.
-When we got to the second mosque, we had to wait for the other group to arrive which once again delayed us.
-Once inside, she would just walk through rooms without saying a word. At one point we started saying, "what is this? What are we looking at?" and she would point to a sign.
-Our guide was corrected a few times by other guides and we all decided to end the tour, pointing out that others were getting tours and we were not.
-The guide admitted that she had been working less than a month and didn't know anything about the places we were visiting. She said her knowledge of the mosques was limited and she didn't know anything about the churches.
AFTER:
-We contacted Emo Tours immediately at the site and said we were disappointed that we all paid a private tour rate for a group tour and that we had a guide who admitted she didn't know about the places she was taking us. They said they'd have someone contact me.
-Emo tours offered is a felluca ride as payment, and we said no this was unacceptable. They then offered a $20 refund, which we also said was not acceptable.
The most frustrating part is they said that having a guide that didn't know anything about the sites was not false advertising or misleading, which is crazy. I just said hey, we're just talking to you as people who feel duped, please help us out. They said no and than the best offer possible was $20 back.
It's not about the money, it's about principle. If I hire a mechanic to fix my car, I expect them to know how a car works. When I hire a tour guide for a specific excursion, I expect them to know something about where we're going!
AVOID EMO TOURS - there are plenty of other groups that do way better. They just wasted our time and denied any wrongdoing.

GEORGIOS_C, Dec 2025
Very nice experience with opportunity to visit very interesting sightseeings as mosques, churches and also a synagogue.
Ahmed_A, Dec 2025
It was the best tour we had in egypt. The tour guide was very well informed, very enthusiastic and helpful.
Chrysanthos_L, Dec 2025
We were met by our driver Yasser who arrived in a well-maintained and clean sedan, and our guide Abdul. We went around some churches and mosques, but then we asked our very knowledgable guide Abdul if we could exchange some monuments to see the Cavern church above the Garbage City instead. Both him and our driver were happy to change the itinerary on the go.
Abdul is a young enthusiastic, happy, and keen guide, who speaks English very well.
All in all, I would recommend.

Amazing day seeing the highlights of Cairo. My guide Hassan was excellent and listened to what I wanted to do.on the tour. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Had a fantastic day with him!
Klaudia_K, Nov 2025
The driver who doesn't speak English picked us up. After the guide kindly showed up, he didn't speak English very well, he skipped a couple of agenda points including the famous market, but he took us to shops where they definitely overcharged us. He didn't share many information either. We ended up in the restaurant finally where we got meal with meat when I marked vegetarian prior. Then on the way back to the hotel, we had to turn back because water and coffee was not paid by the guide at the restaurant and when we got to the restaurant we were only allowed to pay by cash. Needless to say that no dietary or allergy restrictions were considered at the restaurant and also when we were taken to the perfume shop even though I asked
Andrea_E, Nov 2025
Guide was rude and talked to me like I was an idiot! Rushed though Coptic sights and gave long lectures at mosques not even on the list of locations given all saying don’t tell the company I took you here. Had to stop and talk to all his friends along the way. Felt shady as he would pass money off and no actual tickets were given. Would have loved to have more time at the hanging church but the 4 min was all that was there when I asked to go back to my hotel cause it was not enjoyable was told “no no we have to finish don’t give away money you don’t have more money than the boss.” Also tried to get me to go in to a mosque during a call to prayer I know that’s disrespectful he was upset I wouldn’t just follow him and so as he said. It was a very uncomfortable situation that was not enjoyable.

Great day out with a knowledgeable guide, Mahmoud. He knew how to dodge the v busy areas and circle back when traffic was lighter.
Mishita_J, Nov 2025
Our tour guide Romany was very patient with all the questions we had and very helpful to us. Our driver Mohammad was also very kind and patient and a heavy driver.
KimRiefstahl, Oct 2025
This is a very long and involved tour! We saw so many amazing sites. The driver and our guide Mario picked us up at our hotel and we were off for a full day adventure! We saw the most beautiful mosques, the hanging church, shopped, and had lunch.
Onyi_A, Sep 2025
Our guide, Isaac, and driver, Hamza, were both friendly and welcoming throughout the tour. Isaac was especially knowledgeable and incredibly accommodating, making sure we felt comfortable and informed at every stop.
We explored the rich history of Coptic and Islamic Cairo, visiting remarkable sites like the the Hanging Church and Mosque of Muhammad Ali. Isaac also kindly helped us capture memorable moments by taking photos along the way.
RILEY_W, Jul 2025
Great tour! I was able to see so much in short amount of time. Made it such a stress free way to see the sites in the city!
Christian_V, Jun 2025
Great day to explore the old Cairo. The tour guide was knowledgeable, tour finished around 3pm, they skipped one of the mosques. Extra visit at the perfume oil shop and cotton clothing shop. Have some changes as people at the sites usually try to be helpful like showing you things and then ask for money, pretty much very sites in Egypt.
Constantina_H, Apr 2025
Nice day! Our tour guide Mohamed was kind and we asked to replace one activity in order to visit the museum. He gave us a tour at the museum too
Joseph_M, Apr 2025
I had a great experience with my tour guide Robert as we explored some key sights in Cairo including Ben Ezra Mosque, the Hanging Church and Saladin Citadel. Robert was a treasure trove of information and provided really good insights about the places we visited. He also took some of my photos and made sure that I had a splendid time. I had a flight to catch in the afternoon so I had to skip the Sultan Hassan Mosque. But overall, the experience was wonderful. Robert was a terrific guide.
Hadeel_A, Mar 2025
Robert was very informative and knowledgeable. Great historical experience. Lots of old islamic mosque and churches.
Robert_W, Mar 2025

The tour was ok. Despite of a street closure, the driver managed to arrive on time. I recommend this tour.
