Super cool experience and I mean that in two ways! Cool as in awesome, but cool as in chilly inside the caves as well. But it was great learning about why these caves exist and our guide had a fun sense of humor as well. You get to explore two caves on this journey and after the first one, you have a great view of Budapest and then get to enjoy your inner child by going down a brief playground slide. The walk to the second cave is half a mile (our group did it in 12 minutes) and it has a mild incline at some points but it's really a pretty leisurely hike. Bring a sweatshirt to wear inside the cave. The temperature inside is about 11 celsius or 50 fahrenheit. It's also damp and you may have water drip on you (though nothing significant. You won't get drenched or anything)

Dark and cool, i recommend a mobile/flashlight and a light jacket. The tour includes a cave right at the entrance and after a sho walk (10min) a second cave tour. The experience was great and the guide was friendly and helpful.

June cave exploration

Great experience, would definitely recommend! The path wasn’t difficult and the pace was good. The temperature in both cave systems was fine and didn’t need a jacket.

Very cool experience!

Two different caves in one go, really good guide

Sarahyan_C, Oct 2024
The first cave is very stunning and has some features you cannot see often. The second one is a more standard cave, mais great to visit too. A short walk of 10-15min. is between the two caves. Pretty easy to walk in the cave. The guide is really good and interesting

Nice cave tour!!@

We took the tour of Szemlő-hegyi-cave and Palvolgyi cave. There was a 15 minute 3D movie about all of the caves under Budapest. Victor was our guide and he provided great information about the history and geology of the caves with a good bit of humor too! There are concrete paths through a lot of the tour with some steep and uneven steps and a ladder in the mix, so consider your physical condition for this tour. There aren't a lot of spectacular cave formations due to the way the caves were formed but enough diversity of deposits and geology to keep things interesting. If you Google Map to Pusztaszeri ut 37 it will place you in front of a driveway........just go a few meters north and you will find the cave. Well worth your time while in Budapest. Recommended!!

A must see in Budapest

By far the best tour we did!!! Great tour guide with Peter, very knowledgeable and great pace. Moderate level of fitness needed

Great tour an experience!

Silvana, Jun 2024
Our guide was super helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely worth it! And to think that it’s all under the city!

Underground city caves

Janelle_R, Jun 2024
The tour was informative, our guide Peter had some good stories to share. The location was easy to get to walking or on a bus. There are 2 caves, exiting the first cave there was a great view of the city. We walked about 10 minutes to the next caves which is near a little restaurant.

Excellent!

100% recommended tour!

Lisa_C, Mar 2024
It was an absolute mind blowing experience to see the amazing caves under the city. We enjoy the sense of humor of the best guide Peter and also all the fun facts about caving. This tour is 100% recommended to add an unforgettable memory during your tour to Budapest!

Superb

What an experience! I really enjoyed this trip. It started with 3D movie about the caves and some geological facts and data. Peter ( I believe this was the name)the host was very knowledgable and interacting with a group of 7 people. The experience was fascinating: to walk through the caves, hear the history of it and climb the ladder up through narrow cave passage which lead you out of the cave.

Lovely Caves

Jennifer_M, Sep 2023
Caves are amazing to see and our tour guide was very good. There is a lot of walking and climbing stairs so anyone looking at doing this wear appropriate food wear plus bring water/snacks

Must do experience in Budapest

Fantastic experience made even better by the guide Attilla. He was very informative and knowledgable whilst also keeping things light and fun. A must do experience whilst in Budapest

Cave tour with excessive walk between caves

Paul_K, Aug 2023
Guide was interesting but not so responsive to keep group together. It would have made the tour more interesting to show consideration for all involved.

Fun, unique experience

Rose_H, Aug 2023
We had a great experience - our guide (sorry missed his name!) was really fun and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to do something unique.

Peter and the caves

DEV_A, May 2023
1st time cave walking and really enjoyed it, made all the better by Peter who is hilarious without even trying. Two very good caves to get you started with, both easily accessible with a little stamina required for some of the steps, would definitely recommend 👍

Budapest Bucket List - Must See!

Tracy_K, Jul 2022
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and knew to point out the characteristics of the various formations, how the caves were discovered, and by whom in interesting stories which made it entertaining for everyone. He shared a few fun surprises on the way and showed us where the team trains techniques to be prepared for the physical rigors caving requires. This was an easy cave walk for me and my children (10 and under) but there are small footed steps to climb (172 to be exact) and many more in the second cave including metal step ladders with handrails that are cold to the touch. So please know that going in and don't give the guide a difficult time that you had to exert yourself a bit. It is caving after all but just an intro at that. If you don't have any physical or health limitations I highly recommend this tour. It is a truly fascinating look at what lies under the streets of Budapest and who is walking beneath you as you are above! You'll never see the city the same again!
