Itinerary

Choose your preferred departure time and meet your guide at your central Budapest hotel or in Pest. Then, set off to explore while learning about Budapest’s history and culture.

Hungary’s capital straddles the River Danube, with commercial Pest and hilly Buda on the facing banks. Both offer many historical sights, from Buda’s Royal Castle to Pest’s boulevards, testament to Hungary’s 19th-century golden age.

Ride the Budapest metro (own expense) — one of Europe’s oldest underground systems — to Heroes’ Square. Admire the monuments built for Hungary’s 1,000-year anniversary in 1896, and stroll down Andrássy Avenue, the city's grandest boulevard.

Pass Andrássy’s neo-classical buildings and visit Roosevelt Square, now named Széchenyi Square. Then, see St. Stephen's Basilica, dedicated to Hungary’s first king, and enjoy some of Budapest’s best-loved ice cream at the popular Gelarto Rosa parlor.
