When my husband and I first saw Budapest back in 2025 on a river cruise, we knew we had to come back to explore that beautiful city more. In 2026 we returned for a week's stay, the highlight of which was a 4-hour private walking tour of Budapest's Art Nouveau Architecture. Suzy Szöke was our guide, and she showed us both the city's most iconic/well known Art Nouveau buildings as well as countless other breathtakingly stunning but lesser-known structures that we would have otherwise missed. In addition, she took us inside several structures, enabling us to see amazing Art Nouveau interiors featuring tile, stained glass and metal work that we would have never known existed. We ended the tour at my request at a bookstore, where I purchased a book (Jugenstil in Budapest) as a memento of our tour. The tour opened our eyes further to Budapest's architectural riches - and now I'd love to return again to this city of architectural treasures, to further explore...

Tour Guide, Szoke Zsuzsanna, was fabulous. Great knowlege, enthusiastic presentation and obvious passion for the subject. The history of both the architecture and the country were interwoven to make it a terrific learning experience and a fun tour.

Suzy is absolutely amazing. She is not only an expert in art and art nouveau, she is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to history. She is able to tie the art together with its historical roots and leaves her guests with a profound understanding of Hungarian art and culture. Suzy is charming and professional. She went out of the way too make sure all of the important sites were visited and added in a side stop at a beautiful art museum as an extra bonus along the way. Would absolutely recommend!!!

Guide was excellent, but the process using VIATOR was terrible. She never got our reply email or email discussing where to meet for the tour and we almost missed the tour because of these issues. I finally found a phone number to call her and she did get to our boat to meet us and we had a great tour. She knew her history and architecture and went out of her way to take us places in hotels that were not really open to the public, so we to the opportunity to see things very few people get to see.. So the tour guide gets 6 stars, but the process of booking etc, was not good. Would not use VIATOR again for guides, except for information and ideas of what to do.
This is my only major complaint. Usually Trip Advisor is a great site and gives the opportunity to gather good information.

We had an amazing few hours with a very knowledgable guide. She was able to adapt the tour to my husband's limited walking ability with the use of taxis and public transportation. The Four Seasons Hotel was an amazing example of Art Nouveau architecture. We gained an appreciation of Budapest that we couldn't have gotten any other way.

I am so glad that I booked this tour. Bogata was our guide and made it even more special. She really knows the city and historical architecture. The Art Nouveau buildings she showed us were spectacular examples. We stopped at a coffee shop that was unbelievable. All Art Nouveau tables and chairs that you could sit at!! Bogata is the best! Loved the tour.

Five stars are not enough to describe this life experience. Mine, in fact, was not a simple and traditional guided tour but a 360° experience discovering the most hidden corners of Budapest, behind which lie unexpected 'gems' in Art Nouveau style. Every route with Zsuzsanna is always 'tailor-made', which means it is never necessarily pre-established and/or standardized. On the contrary, along with what can be considered true 'musts' of the route, the itinerary can also be personalized based on the interests and specific needs of the visitor (I, for example, had visited the Mai Manó Ház the day before, so, by mutual agreement, we decided to focus on other stops that were still unknown to me). What can I say about Zsuzsanna: she is an excellent scholar and a fantastic person, both from a human and professional point of view. Her preparation, it goes without saying, is of the highest level. Her dedication, moreover, is impeccable: just think that my tour lasted even an hour longer! At the end of the visit, he accompanied me to a bookstore, where I hoped to purchase a particularly valuable book (unfortunately, the copies were sold out), and he also included a stop at a super original café in the center, where we enjoyed a delicious coffee and an excellent slice of Hungarian strudel!
I will conclude by saying that there are truly no words to describe this experience: it is, in fact, thanks to an innate love for one’s profession and that ‘sacred fire’ that constantly drives us toward excellence, that people like Zsuzsanna are able to catapult their interlocutors into a magical world, made of dreams, art, and culture. Unfortunately (or fortunately!), from now on I will always live with a deep nostalgia for an era I never experienced: the one in which Art Nouveau flourished, the traces of which I will certainly continue to pursue, as well as its various expressions, throughout Europe.

Mamma mia, Greta! :)
Thank you so so much for your unbelievable enthusiasm and your company , not just your attention which is incomparable to any of my tourists in the past. All my inspiration was rooted in your enthusiasm and interest that was accompanied by such respect you showed to my country's history, culture and arts. Never met anyone in my life who I could mention but you in terms of true affection towards a foreign country. Thank you! REally thank you for all that and to give me the feeling: it really was worth to acquire such knowledge in the past 25 years as finally I was priviliged to be the guide of someone who was totally and 100 percent being able to absorb it.
Truly hoping to see you in Florence!
Wishing you all the best until then.
With love,
Suzy
