Hosted in the back of a noisy Italian restaurant, this cooking class fell well short of our expectations—especially compared to a fantastic, immersive class we took in Sicily a few days prior. Our host, Vivien, was polite, but she was completely overwhelmed and double-booked, juggling our group alongside a separate pizza-making class at the same time.
Because of this, Vivian's instruction was disorganized and piecemeal. She constantly shuttled between tables, giving us half-baked steps before disappearing for long stretches without explanation. We ended up learning very little about actual cooking techniques or the cultural history behind the dishes. To cap off an already frustrating experience, she was quite pushy at the end, pressuring us to leave a review on the spot before we could even leave.
We had so much fun! Our Guide/Chef, Nicola was entertaining and knowledgeable. We made ravioli and linguine for our main course and tiramisu for dessert. Afterwards, we capped the night with a stop at a gourmet gelato spot nearby with Nicola. Dinner was great and included prosecco and wine. Highly recommend!
What an enjoyable cooking class with Martina where we prepared tiramisu, tagliatelle with tomato sauce, and spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter sage sauce. We savored the fruits of our labor accompanied by wine and limoncello 🍋
