It is a great introduction to the old town of Bari. Our guide, Alessia was knowledgeable about the food, history and culture of the area. This was evident during the tour as we leaned so much and our tastebuds were tantalized by the excellent food. It is an excellent way to discover all that Bari has to offer.

We didn’t have the best experience on this tour. We waited around 2 hours before we got our first bite and missed some promised stops on the tour. We’ve taken food tours around the world so we have a general idea of how they work (guide tells restaurant number of people ahead of time). We ended up waiting outside almost every restaurant for ~45 min and didn’t have our first bite of food until almost 9 pm (tour started 6:30). Pasta Nonnas had already packed up for the night by the time we made it to their spot, around 10pm. Disappointing and spent a lot of time waiting around, hungry.
Love Bari!

Nicholas was incredible. He was a local that really knew his home town. Food was delicious and the history was very informative.
Great food, great info - come hungry!
Meghann_K, Jun 2026
Lots of food and great info! Come hungry as you receive full servings of everything - so it’s a lot of very good food. Nicholas is very knowledgeable and loves the city he grew up in and it shows in his delivery of the tour. Well worth it!

Outstanding! Our guide, Nicholas, gave us so much insight into Bari history, culture and food. We were quite full after the tour and he gave us lots of tips for other dining places to explore. Definitely recommend
Great Overview of Bari
Nancy_W, Jun 2026
Lots of delicious food, and fascinating information about the city's history and culture. Very fun to try the octopus sandwich! (it tasted like shrimp--surprisingly very good). Be sure to come hungry; there's a wide variety of Italian foods in large quantities. And be prepared to walk quite a distance.
Best food tour - must do.

You will not be disappointed. We did the 6:30 tour and we ate enough to satisfy our dinner time hunger. Our guide Giuseppe was great. He was very personable and took the time to answer any questions the group had. I definately recommend this tour.
Bari food experience at its best!

Not Impressed
Matthew_H, May 2026
We went to four sandwich stops (focacia, panzerotti, and octopus) and one Gelato stop, and at each stop we waited in line. While the food was great we were provided little history of the items and their place in local lore. With only 8 people in the group and most lagging behind it was difficult to hear what the guide was saying. The first two items were bread and by the time we got to the third stop, octopus sandwiches, no one e wanted to eat. Without more history of the items it.could have been easily done on our own.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback.
We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations. What you describe—difficulty hearing the guide, limited historical context, and pacing that didn’t work well for the group size—is not the standard we aim to deliver. We also understand your point about menu sequencing; having two bread-focused stops early on and then reaching the octopus sandwich without renewed appetite clearly impacted your enjoyment.
We take your comments about storytelling and local context seriously. A key part of what we aim to provide is not just tasting, but also giving meaningful insight into the food culture and traditions behind each item, so it’s disappointing to hear that this aspect felt lacking. We’ll be reviewing how guides structure their explanations and how we manage group dynamics to ensure everyone can hear and engage, even in smaller groups.
Your feedback will be used to improve both pacing and the depth of information shared on future tours. If you’re open to it, we’d also appreciate any additional details so we can better understand which tour you joined.
Thank you again for your honesty—it helps us improve.
Bari food tour with Enzo

Very informative tour! It was as much a historical tour as it was a food tour. And the food we had was GREAT! Wonderful experience, Enzo was a great host with a host of local knowledge.

Roseann_Z, Apr 2026
Nicholas was an outstanding guide! Not only did he take us to the most amazing places, but he introduced us to foods typical of Bari. Each and every stop was a delight! Of course, we could not fit another bite into our stomachs ! In addition, we found him to be extremely knowledgeable in history and gave us tremendous lessons in the history of the area. Nicholas is warm and kind and is a master at engaging in conversation. We HIGHLY recommend this tour and if possible, ask for Nicholas!!

Giuseppe was a great guide. He gave us information from the 12th century to the present and future of Bari, information regarding the growth of tourism and the many things to do and see in the area. He took us to the cream of the crop venues to taste a variety of local dishes, gave us plenty of suggestions on further regional offerings to try and the best spots to try them. He was prompt, courteous, easy to understand. Everything about the tour and the city exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend him and this tour.

Not Good
Valerie_C, Apr 2026
I’m perplexed by all the excellent reviews. I’ve participated in food tours in many countries. This was by far the worst. For the price there wasn’t enough food or tour. We were left alone for a long period of time while the guide went to find the panzerotti. He seemed annoyed by our questions. Honestly, it felt like the guide was phoning it in. There have to be better tours than this one.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations.
We regret that the pacing and amount of food felt insufficient, and we apologize for the moment when you were left waiting—this is certainly not the experience we aim to provide. We also take seriously your comments about the guide’s attitude, as we expect our team to be both attentive and engaged throughout the tour.
Your observations are helpful and will be shared internally so we can review and improve both the structure of the tour and the overall guest experience.
Kind regards
Great food tour with Nicholas
KAAN_C, Apr 2026
We had an incredible tour with Nicholas, and we had the opportunity to savor Bari’s renowned street foods. We thoroughly enjoyed them all, but the Focaccia Barese was the standout. Nicholas not only provided us with information about the food but also highlighted significant landmarks. We highly recommend this tour, giving it a perfect score of 10 out of 5!

Our guide Nicholas was terrific. His knowledge of Bari and Puglia was extensive and the place he took us for food tastings were varied and delicious. The focaccia was a treat! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Bari. We felt it was very good to do on our first day to get a feel for the area. We tried to of the dining spots he recommended and very pleased with our meals.
Ovrrcharged
medvetz4, Mar 2026
Honestly, I’d give this 2 stars because we were wildly overcharged. The website says $40 per person, but we were charged $271. This was an aggregious overpayment for the amount of food we received.
Our guide was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and thorough. Wonderfully helpful pointing out interesting historical places and things in Bari. My only complaint was the lack of food for a “food tour.” We went to 4 spots and had 4 small nibbles..,one was shared. The focaccia was outstanding, but very small (think personal pizza size). The panzerotto was a deep fried pastry stuffed with tomato and mozzarella (size of a half of sandwich) Thankfully, we were given options at the third stop and I didn’t try the octopus (which my daughter loved), but my husband and daughter were encouraged to share 1 sandwich. The last stop was gelato. Outstanding. Best gelato in Italy.
I feel strongly this tour would have been 5 stars if we were charged the correct price.

Dear Client,
As already told, I feel like there's some kind of mistake as we do not offer this tour at that price... I'm glad to hear that you loved everything of ourr tour. Just please check where you got that info as we've never sold our tour at that price. We pride ourselves of serving just TOP quality food and with great local guides only, as such the price is truly paired to what offered. We appreciate you choosing us anyway! Have a lovely rest of the evening.

A great introduction to Bari and it’s traditional foods
Robert_L, Mar 2026
Giuseppe, a Bari-born tour guide gave us an excellent introduction to the Bari, old city and traditional Bari foods. Giuseppe has a great love for his city and it shows by his knowledge and enthusiasm for its food. We had four different food stops. Three involve a great deal of carbs. But oh-so delicious. Our favorite was the focaccia bread with its rich olive oil flavors. Highly recommended.
Exceptional Yummy Tour
Susan_S, Jan 2026
Giuseppe was excellent. He was able to walk us through the Old Town of Bari and show us out of the way places and explain the history to us. The street foods he introduced us to, were amazing and delicious. We were quite full when we finished!!!
Bravo Nicholas!
JoAnne_R, Jan 2026
Nicholas was a gem of a guide—personable, knowledgeable and candid. As a native barese, he not only knew the best dishes to try, but the best restaurants to try them. We learned about and savored Focaccia Barese at Meh, the tenderest octopus sandwich with stracciatella and onions at lo sfizo del Borgo Antico, burrozza capocollo and panzerotto at Mastrociccio, and finished with swoon-worthy gelato at Antica Gelateria Gentile. He accompanied all of this with a guided tour through the labyrinthine alleys of Bari Vecchia, animating history with personal and often comical anecdotes. His stories of the nonnas and their orecchiette and how the old town has evolved from a perilous mafia stronghold to a tourist-friendly neighborhood were fascinating. He knows art and culture and takes contagious pride in his city.
