Alessia with Velo Service was a fun and interesting walking tour guide. We enjoyed walking around with Alessia and learning about the culture and history of Bari. Our favorite things were visiting Basilica Di San Nicola, the gelato, the Nonnes, and learning how to make orecchiette. The time on our tour flew by!

Barbera is THE BEST guide, funny, personable, and a great story-teller! We learned so much about Bari and saw all the highlights (including sampling “the best focaccia” in Bari. Then, Dortea and Merika hosted a wonderful pasta-making experience where we also got to eat a plate of delicious, homemade orecchiette and marinara sauce while sipping on wine (or soda). Perfect way to spend our first full-day in Historic Bari!

What an unbelievable experience! Learning how to make orecchiette pasta with Erica was truly one of the highlights of my trip. She was amazing — patient, fun, and so passionate about sharing her local traditions. The meal we prepared together was absolutely delicious, and the local Bari wine she offered was the perfect touch to finish it all off. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area — it’s authentic, memorable, and full of heart!

An informative tour round the old town with wonderful pasta lesson to finish. Barbara was an excellent guide

Bari is Beautiful

Tour was very informative and host knowledgeable. Hard. To hear with large group and construction. Pasta experience very short at end of tour.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that you found the tour informative and appreciated the knowledge of your guide. At the same time, we’re sorry that the large group and nearby construction made it difficult to hear at times. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌟 We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great first full day in Bari. Barbara will be very happy to know you enjoyed the tour. Her humor, storytelling, and passion for the city make every walk through Bari’s streets a special experience. And of course, tasting the “best focaccia” along the way is always a must! We’re also glad you had a lovely time with Dorotea and Marika during the pasta-making experience. Making and enjoying homemade orecchiette together, with a glass of wine and good company, is one of the most authentic ways to experience our local traditions. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We hope to welcome you back to Bari again soon!

A must in Bari.

Chris_K, Sep 2025
Our guide , Barbara, was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable as well as entertaining. It was great to learn about some of the history of Bari. The pasta experience was so fun. Barbara was a great interpreter and also assisted us in our quest to make the perfect orecchiette. Fun day.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the day with Barbara and had fun making orecchiette. We hope to welcome you back soon for another memorable experience!

An interesting but rushed experience

CGE_S, Sep 2025
It was very rushed, barely time to take photos! To their credit, Velo went out of their way to get us there as we were in a carpark next to the port! They even sent a taxi (we paid for it). The pasta making was different, I went to pasta making in Tuscany which was completely different. An interesting experience!

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience . You’re absolutely right — Tuscan pasta and Apulian pasta are quite different, both in preparation methods and in ingredients. We’re glad you found it interesting and hope you enjoyed discovering the unique traditions of our region!

Great experience!

Ryan_M, Sep 2025
This was an amazing experience! It was one of our favorite parts of the trip! Anna was an amazing guide and we learned so much. The orichiette making class with Anna was such a great experience. She was so friendly and welcoming! It was a great time!

Best tour

Rebecca_C, Aug 2025
Anna guided us through Bari with an informative history. We enjoyed wondering the streets to the location for our pasta making experience. The kids really loved trying to master the pasta making technique. 10/10 tour. Thank you.

Lovely tour & fun pasta experience

Tara_S, Jul 2025
We had Barbara as our tour guide. She was both funny & very informative. The tour went at a good pace & she made sure to always put us in the shade. We got to walk around Bari, try local focaccia & visit St Nicolas’ Basilica. At the end, we opted for the additional pasta making experience with Nonna Portia. It was really educational & fun. We even got to try some of her cooking. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bari, whether you’re here for a short or long time.

Wonderful full day

Christopher_C, Jun 2025
Barbara was a fun and fantastic tour guide. Our family’s first day was spent touring Bari and this and the pasta experience was a fantastic way to start the trip.

The tour was great....

Gemma_L, Jun 2025
The tour was great. Perfect amount of time, saw all parts of old town and history. Pasta making was a great little extra to the tour. Vincenzo was a fantastic guide, very knowledgable and funny

Perfect intro to Bari

Melissa_C, May 2025
Even with a little rain Iris made this a great experience. The tour around old town was interesting as was our musical treat! The pasta ladies are amazing and our host welcomed us into her home for a pasta lesson and meal. Perfecto!

Kristel_J, May 2025
Very informative and good tour - our guide Alessio was great at navigating Italian-Spanish-English during the same tour!

Super Tour - Amazing Tour Guide

Chuck_N, May 2025
This is a great way to enjoy a little bit of the old city of Bari, and sample some local food. Guilia was a fantastic guide who was able to keep track of our group and make everything humorous and entertaining. She loves her city and it shows. Big highlight at the end was making orecchiette (pasta) and sampling some local wine with a family at their home. Awesome experience all around. Thank you for a wonderful tour.

Truly fun walking tour of Bari

leslieglazerjacobs, Apr 2025
If you're visiting Bari, this is a tour worth taking! You see a number of historical sites, you actually make (or in our case, try to make) orecchiette) just like the nonas do on the street (and the pasta and sauce topped with cheese that you actually eat are made by your host). Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and warm, and it was a joy to spend time with her. Plus the tour ends with delicious gelato. What could be bad?

Excellent tour and pasta...

Dom_S, Apr 2025
Excellent tour and pasta making was good fun . guide Mamalu was good chatty and friendly. History facts about right

Fun short tour

Carla_E, Apr 2025
Barbara was a fantastic guide. She is extremely knowledgeable and also funny. The tour hit the main highlights in Bari Vecchia and is a great first day activity. Making orecchiette pasta with Portia was a lot of fun!

Introduction to the people, history and classic yummy food of Bari.

Mary_A, Mar 2025
What a wonderful introduction to the culture and yummy local food of Bari. Barbara was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun guide. Local history and the pride of the people of Bari shines through on this tour. Highly recommend.

Learned history and had fun

Mary_K, Oct 2024
The interesting facts about Bari our tour guide talked about. Such a knowledgeable person . Pasta experience fun and so welcoming to us.

Fantastic!

Maria_M, Oct 2024
Learning about your beautiful city and making pasta with our lovely host!! Barbara the tour guide was wonderful! Grazie!

So much to see…

Linda_T, Sep 2024
So many sights to recall as we walked thru the old town. Pasta making class was a blast. Eating church bread focaccia was delicious and a historical experience.

Great way to experience old town Bari

Thomas_H, Sep 2024
We did a walking food tour because the lady we were going to make pasta with was not feeling well and we thought it was more enjoyable. Anna showed us the town and made it so enjoyable. The places we stopped at for the tour were beautiful and amazing food. Highly recommend this to do while visiting Bari. You can explore on your own but the knowledge Anna had was incredible. Her personality was so enjoyable and fun. I would highly recommend this while visiting Bari.

Great Bari Tour

ChrisAnn_D, Sep 2024
Barbara was a great guide. We really enjoyed pasta making and learning the history of St Nicolas. Tour was well organized.

Bari Walking Tour good but skip pasta making

Dea_P, Sep 2024
The tour was good and the tour guides were wonderful! The making of the pasta was fine but not what I expected. Also, "lunch" is a very small plastic plate of pasta and the wine tasted like vinegar. I would skip the pasta making experience and just walk down Strada Arco Basso and watch the woman make Orecchiette.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Dear Dea, Thank you for your feedback and for appreciating the quality of the tour and our wonderful guides. We would like to clarify that, as mentioned in the product description, the experience includes a small tasting of pasta and homemade wine. We understand that taste is subjective and can vary from person to person. Regarding the plate used, it is not regular plastic, but biodegradable material, as you can notice from the details on the plate. We have always been committed to sustainability and strive to offer authentic, environmentally friendly experiences. The focus of the activity is on the experiential and cultural aspects, allowing our guests to enjoy a unique moment tied to local traditions. Thank you again for your input! Best regards

Bari Walking Tour

Alessia our guide was friendly and her knowledge of Bari history impressive. Being welcomed into a local’s home to learn about making orriechiette was a fun experience.

Lot of fun

Michael_P, Aug 2024
The tour was nice and the pasta lesson was fun. We suggest doing this tour anytime other than August. The weather was so hot and made walking uncomfortable.

Short, sweet and informative

Andrea_R, Jul 2024
This was such a fun tour. Our tour guide Barbara grew up here and had such fun stories to tell. She interjected history with humor and fun. She gave us free time to walk around and treated us all to gelato. We then went to a local home and had a 30 minute pasta making experience, which was quite fun. I would say this is a great way to spend a couple hours and get to know the old town and some of their traditions and beautiful cathedrals
