We had such a great tour of 5 volcanoes in the Auckland area. Jerome our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided a running commentary not only about the volcanoes but also the areas we drove through. We saw 2 volcanoes from lookouts but climbed around the rim of the other three. The tour was well paced and each climb was at our own pace. The visit to Raychoux Patisserie in Ellerslie to taste their award winning pies and pastries was an added bonus.

This tour is a lot of one thing. That said it is well organized and the guide, Jerome was very informative and energetic. If you are motivated to spend half a day walking up different volcanos this is the tour for you.

It was a very informative tour! I learned lots about local geography as well as history. The guide picked us up on time. The group size was just 7 people. The young guide, Jerome, was very pleasant and shared many interesting stories of the area. I was hoping to hike up more of the volcanoes, but a couple of them were just standing at the bottom and talking about them. It was worth the time and money.

Informative with regard to Māori culture, history and politics, as well as some of Aotearoa's volcanic geology and botany. We visited 5 volcanic sites, with calculated rest stops up the hills for breathers and discussions. We learned about each of the areas, and about sites of interest in other areas of Auckland. Our Apple health app listed that we climbed 25 flights and walked over 10,000 steps.
There were bathroom breaks and a stop at a bakery for a tasty mince pie (self-pay). The weather was sunny and warm. Shorts and T-shirt for this kind of weather. Well worth the time and tour cost. Thank you, Jerome.

Very interesting tour. Great overview on volcanoes in the Auckland area. Beautiful scenery as well. Length of tour was good and we got a small break to have some delicious snacks from a local bakery. Enjoyed our day with Jerome. Do be mindful there is a good deal of uphill and downhill walking. And bring your sunscreen and water!

This is one of the BEST tours/excursions I did while in Auckland. Mike was an amazing guide! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about how volcanos play such an important role in Auckland. A much more in-depth overview of Auckland’s volcanic history than I imagined. The opportunity to visit these various volcanic sites is a must do on your visit to Auckland. The topography shown in the ad for this outing does not do justice to the actual topography you will witness and experience on your hike to the various sites. Mike’s knowledge of the volcanic history of the area as well as his knowledge of the Māori presence/culture in relation to the volcano’s was very educational. The vista’s from the various sights we visited were outstanding; 360 degree view from Mt Eden.
You will be walking on gravel paths as well as constructed boardwalks and there are elevations to contend with but if you’re in decent shape this should not be an issue
This tour made Auckland so more fascinating and understandable.
This is a very worthwhile way to spend a 1/2 day and very cost effective for the knowledge you’ll receive and the sites you’ll visit. I would have really enjoyed taking my 8 and 13 year old grandchildren on this tour; very educational!

Fantastic tour! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the volcanoes and the geology of New Zealand. He also wove in narratives on the history and culture of the island nation. He was very personable and friendly.
On another note, he was the safest tour van driver that we have ever had in our years of traveling.

This was a fantastic tour. Mike took us to 4 volcano craters and gave us so much information that we would never have know about.
I recommend everyone take this tour whether you live in Auckland or are visiting.
The hiking is moderate even for a slower person like myself.

We had a great day with Mike from Voltours. Our small group was flexible and moved at a great pace. He drove us to 5 stops visiting 4 volcano sites. Very knowledgeable guide who explains the volcano field that Auckland was built on and the history of the Maori people. He took us to various volcano sites across the city providing interesting details on each of the eruptions and the inhabitants.
The last stop had great views of the city and ability to view both east and west coasts from a mountain top.
If you are looking to learn something unique about Auckland, this tour and Mike is the way to go!

I had a great time on the volcanoes tour with our guide, Mike. Mike was friendly and personable, ensuring that I did not feel left out as a solo traveler. He also shared a wealth of information on the geology of volcanoes, and history of Māori settlements and British colonization in the area. I was surprised with how much ground we covered (physically and informationally!) in just three hours. If you want to see a lot of volcanoes and learn a lot about them, this is the tour for you!

Mike was communicative, punctual, friendly and very knowledgeable. I had no idea there were so many volcanos in Auckland! There are some amazing views particularly where the tour ended which was spectacular with an incredible 360 degree view of the city. A great option for a half day! Thanks Mike!
