Great way to see and learn about the volcanoes that surround Auckland. The peaks give you amazing views and why not get a little exercise in too.

Very informative and beautiful views of Auckland as well. Mike is very knowledgeable and well versed on the subject of New Zealand volcanoes.

Great half day volcano tour

Michael_V, Feb 2025
This is a great little tour in Auckland. Mike is a great and patient guide, with tons of information about the volcanoes of Auckland you don’t get anywhere else. Very eye opening and extremely interesting tour, highly recommended!

Great Morning Learning about Volcanoes

Michele_F, Feb 2025
Great experience! Lots of information on NZ and the volcanoes. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, and take a lot of photos for us. I would highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful morning tour.

Mike picked us up at our hotel arriving at the time he noted and was a wonderful tour guide. He provided just the right amount of details and was very flexible as well. I highly recommend this tour as you will walk away with a different view of Auckland after visiting these different sites. Mike, thank you so much Kevin, Tammy & Amanda.

A nice half day tour from Auckland

Cindy_N, Dec 2024
This was a great half day tour learning about and visiting some of the volcanic sites around Auckland. I learned a lot about the history of Auckland and New Zealand as well as volcanoes. Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgable and friendly and went at a nice pace. Highly recommend if you are ready for some nice volcano walks!

Understanding the rich history of Auckland

Tina_M, Nov 2024
This was such an interesting tour. Michael was so knowledgeable about Auckland, its history and the different volcanoes that we visited. We learned alot about Auckland, the Maori people and their struggles with the British. I highly recommend this tour as it is informative but also a way to see and learn about the city!

Did you know...

Michele_A, Nov 2024
that the entirety of Auckland is built on an active volcanic field, that each volcano erupts only once, & that the site of the next eruption is impossible to predict? Along with explaining this your excellent guide Mike shares interesting facts about his city all while you're getting great exercise walking to the volcanoes. His engineering background ensures a logically laid out tour ending with Mt. Eden that provides a 360 view of the area, thus incorporating the 3 previously viewed volcanoes. We enjoyed a lovely day & great conversation. Ask Mike about his next road trip. Highly recommend!

Great vulcanoe tour

Marc_R, May 2024
Spectacular view of Auckland. Our driver/tour guide was very knowleddeable on the vulcanoes, providing us with very interesting information.

Great tour

Marshal_T, Mar 2024
Mike was knowledgeable, and accommodating., there was some walking involved but a really great day. The stop for a coffee provided a nice break

Rainy and foggy. Too...

Joaquin_G, Mar 2024
Rainy and foggy. Too expensive for what the tour offers. Aside from the weather that was really bad, the tour was not exciting at all

Wonderful tour!

Karia_S, Mar 2024
Guide was great and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time! He was really knowledgable and helped us to understand the volcanoes and Auckland much better!

A very worthwhile half day intro to Auckland

Mark_L, Mar 2024
Good tour. Picked up at our hotel. Visited 4 volcanoes and learned a lot about Auckland geography. Great views of city from various places. Very pleased with it all.

Volcanoes everywhere!

Carol_M, Mar 2024
A different type of tour than the usual city sights. Mike was personable and knowledgeable about the volcano activity in the area. His van was comfortable and water was provided. The walks had some steepness, but certainly manageable. Good exercise! We would have appreciated a bit more commentary on sights we passed, history, etc as we were first time visitors to Auckland. All in all, we would recommend.

Would recommend to anyone

Claire_S, Feb 2024
Fantastic trip and Mike the guide was brilliant. Really knowledgeable and very easy to talk too. Met a lovely couple also on the trip. Would recommend to anyone.

Enjoyable and interesting

John_B, Feb 2024
Mike was a great guide - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The water and sunscreen provided were a plus. We enjoyed the tour, the sights and got almost 10k steps in!

An outstanding Tour

Anonymous, Feb 2024
Despite a dreary day with scatterred showers, this tour was outstanding. Our guide, Mike. clearly is knowledgable and passionate regarding Auckland"s geology and Maori culture. The surrounding area of Auckland is stunning and the tour takes you out of the downtown area. We enjoyed our trip and learned much about NZ. It is definitely worth doing!

Auckland volcanos

Ronald_P, Jan 2024
Mike gave us a einderttour. Great information. It was a pleasant day. Felt like we learned and saw a lot of Auckland. Definitely recommend!

Violent History

Dan_N, Jan 2019
We toured 4 of the major volcanoes in Auckland with Mike. We learned that Mike is an engineer with a curious mind so he was very knowledgeable in sharing the history of the violent volcanoes that shaped current day Auckland. The tour tested our stamina with a few steep climbs, but getting to the summit was definitely worth it. The views were spectacular and learning about the Maori history along the way made this a very special tour that we recommend to everyone.
