Itinerary

Make your own way to the meeting point for your 3-hour tour as evening sets in. With the main crowds and afternoon heat melted away, early evening is an ideal time to explore Athens, especially as it marks the moment when the city’s monuments flicker to life in a blaze of lights.

Meet your guide, don your helmet and get a safety briefing and orientation session to familiarize yourself with your electric, two-wheeled, self-balancing Segway. Then, once you’re ready, set off with your guide and small group to explore the pretty streets beneath the UNESCO-protected Acropolis – the ancient rocktop citadel that gazes down on the city.
 Cruise into Plaka, Athens’ Old Town, as the lights of its tavernas and bars switch on for the evening. Then, glide through the Monastiraki neighborhood to the remnants of Hadrian’s Library. Pose for photos outside this age-old complex as you hear why the Roman Emperor Hadrian had it built in 132 AD.

Ride on to the Agora, home to the remains of Athens’ ancient marketplace and civic center. Admire the illuminated remnants of the colonnades, statues and shrines, including the Temple of Hephaestous. Then, swing by the stunning New Acropolis Museum, where many of Athens’ ancient antiquities are held, and cruise around the Acropolis’ slopes.

Stop at Mars Hill to ogle the stunning city views, and after a break for a drink (own expense) at a lively bar, end your explorations with a 1-hour tour of Athens’ top attractions, all now bathed in splendid floodlights.

View the Temple of Zeus, Old Parliament House, Athens University and other buildings; and continue to the Panathinaikos Stadium, the all-marble arena that staged the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.  Admire the 60,000-seater stadium and then steer your Segway back to near the start point where your tour concludes.
