Beautiful night

Dj was a great host. The city was beautiful and the art experience was great. The whole family enjoyed plus the drinks were a plus.

The staff were great and friendly and the mulled wine was perfect for a chilly night. But that’s where the positives end. “Light festival” means something different in the US compared to Amsterdam. The light festivals I had gone to before meant everything was covered in lights and holiday decorations. This light festival is an art exhibition where a few pieces of art are made from lights and are scattered down the canals. One of the staff members is to give a little background on each piece. But in my boat, a group of 10 or so drunk people shouted over anything the staff member said so he eventually gave up. The group also shouted/sang over the Christmas songs on the speakers so that was eventually shut off too. I wouldn’t recommend this tour. There are better ways to see the art and canals

We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t live up to your expectations. It’s important to us that guests enjoy both the art and the atmosphere, so we apologize that the noise from other guests impacted your experience. I read that my colleagues did everything they could to calm down the other guests. At that point I think there is not more we could do in the middle of the cruise? We understand that everyone has different expectations for what a light festival should be. Unfortunately the artworks are not organized by BoatAmsterdam.Com, but by the “Amsterdam Light Festival”. We have no influence on the art works, logistics and the setting on the water. We have reviewed our listing, it states that we will pass the 20+ artworks. Besides the art also a lot of buildings and houseboats are decorated. More is not possible according to the license given by the city hall. We’ll try to review how we communicate the nature of the event more clearly on our listing. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve the overall experience for all of our visitors. Michel and Jurriaan were top tour guides. They knew how to tell beautiful things about the art of the festival of lights, but also other city facts about Amsterdam. This in combination with fun, jokes and delicious mulled wine was super. Thanks for the nice experience! Definitely recommended.
