The guide was able to adjust times to accommodate the group’s desires and schedule. We always were ahead of the cruise ship busses to avoid the crowds.

Great use of time! We were in for the day on a cruise and I feel like this itinerary was perfect. The bird museum was surprisingly delightful. It was worth the extra money to have a smaller group. Our guide Peter shared a lot of nice info and kept us moving.

The tour hit all of the highlights I was looking for with a small group of 10 people. The van was very comfortable and the tour guide excellent.

Our guide Peter was very informative and patient with a group or 14. The highlights of eastern Iceland were awesome

Tour guide was very informative and the sights were incredible. It was interesting to have smoked arctic char for lunch.

Excellent. On time and paced nicely. We had plenty of time at all the stops. Driver was friendly and informative. Highly recommend. Saga Tours lived up to all the reviews that i read. Don’t hesitate …. Book ‘em!

This was a great tour with Saga. Our tour guide was an expert on Iceland and do warm and welcoming. She walked with us at each stop to give special insights and history. Godafoss waterfall was spectacular and Lake Myvatn was beautiful. The lunch and unexpected stop at the bird museum was wonderful.
There were some minor technical issues with securing WiFi for the tour which was not needed and did not affect thectoir

We just returned from a wonderful day tour in Akureyri, and our guide Mrs Thora Love was truly exceptional. She was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly dedicated. Her explanations were interesting and informative, and she went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great experience. She created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, paid attention to every detail, and made the day unforgettable. We felt we were in the best hands and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended

We LOVED our full day Saga Travel tour - the Lake Mývatn & Godafoss Small Group Tour from Akureyri Port; led by the personable tour guide, Þóra (pronounced Thora). The company’s small van was roomy and comfortable for the six and a half hour trip exploring this incredibly scenic area of Iceland.
A native Icelander, Thora provided us with a lively, and informative experience. Godafoss falls were spectacular and afterwards, a special Saga Travel treat awaited us at the nearby Godafoss Hotel and Restaurant - delicious coffee and some warm, fresh baked Kleiner donuts - a nice touch.
Thora provided excellent, knowledgeable facts and information along the way. Especially appreciated was her excellent commentary given prior to arriving at sights, rather than at the location; an important though often overlooked bit of smart and sharp guiding.
The tour included many fascinating sights to see and there were stops for great photo opportunities. Also got to see and hear about some of the innovative thermal electric technology that Iceland has developed.
Thora kept us on a timely schedule without rushing to make the cruise ship back on time. This Saga tour was a great value and was thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

Visit to spectacular Godafoss Waterfall and weathered lava field formations. Short tour but great natural features to enjoy

It was a long, but really interesting day. Our tour guide ( so sorry I forgot his name) was very entertaining, knowledgeable, and funny. We saw so many amazing sites and had plenty of time for pictures, souvineers, and bathroom breaks. Small group, so no waiting around for the "large crowd" to be managed. The small van was very roomy and comfortable.

We enjoyed this tour with our guide, Juli(us), seeing the main places of interest, listening to his stories. We also appreciated the lunch in the local bird museum with some delicious smoked fish on bread baked in the hot soil.
Paul_G, Aug 2024
The host was funny and knowledgeable. The sights were breathtaking. Highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Walter_L, Aug 2024
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and history of Iceland. He spoke English and Spanish beautifully. We saw everything listed in the tour description plus.
Nathalie_D, Aug 2024
Runar our guide was wonderful. He was extremely knowledgeable, a walking encyclopedia. He also shared with us great personal stories and told us legends from the country. He escorted us to many of the sights and continued on with us giving us more information as we went along. There was also a balance of some quiet time in order for us to appreciate the stunning views surrounding us.

A great day touring the area. Thora is a wonderful guide and educator. Perfect trip for the day we were in port.

Saga Tours did a spectacular job. Rúnar is obviously a legend here. Everywhere he took us people knew him. They were hugging him, high-fiving him. I cannot believe how much he knew about every question we threw at him. He truly is a major Icelandic history buff The tour was 6+ hours and I feel like it was the best money ever spent. After about an hour, it ended with playing authentic Icelandic music and singing along I couldn’t have asked for a cherry on top of my ice cream sundae. We saw EVERYTHING! Splurge on this. Worth every penny.

The waterfall, lake and lava formations were beautiful. Our guide was born and raised in the area and gave such good insight to the life a d culture of the region.
Krista_S, Sep 2023
While I admit it didn’t occur to me until we were on our way home I was disappointed that the guide did not take us to the Game of Thrones cave listed on the itinerary. Other than that, great tour!
Peter_C, Sep 2023
It was a great day. The hot springs were really good 👍
I'm not sure why they sell alcohol there if it's supposed to be a healthy environment
Patty_C, Aug 2023
The tour was very informative and well organized. The tour guide was great! Really appreciated the big nets!
Susan_B, Aug 2023
It was wonderful to see so many sight and our guide was very personable and informative. We especially enjoyed our lunch at the bird watchers restaurant, the mushroom soup was delicious.
Renee_M, Aug 2023
Our guide Dabba was fantastic! The tour was great. We saw everything I wanted to see and more!..,...,
Thomas_H, Jul 2023
The smaller group and outstanding driver/guide, Juli, made the trip the best on our Iceland trip. The variety of the scenery was spectacular and the Game of Thrones filming tie ins were a great addition.
ROBERT_L, Jul 2023
Our driver was awesome, the lava rocks and formations were terrific, and walking through the lava rock mazes was fabulous, the boiling mud pools and hot sulfur smelling steam was a sight to smell and behold. The entire trip and it’s memories were fabulous.
Jennifer_G, Jul 2023
Fantastic guide and driver, beautiful places to visit, and worth the money. We saw much more than we expected and learned some interesting things about Iceland along the way. Pickup and drop off at the cruise port was easy and we made it back to the ship with lots of time to spare.

Our guide, Guide #1, was amazing!! He was totally knowledgeable and shared his life experiences having lived in the village his whole life. He had a great sense of humor and with a group of only 10 could address all our wants and needs. From the waterfall to the volcano fields it was all amazing !!!
Donna_R, Jun 2023
This tour was great. I especially enjoyed the guide/driver. She was the best and made for a very pleasant and memorable experience. The waterfall was simply beautiful.
Robert_B, Jun 2023
Our driver/guide Stefan was excellent and provided great insite and information during the tour
Very good value and gave us a great overall picture of the region
Jeffrey_G, Jun 2023
Personable knowledgeable guide I think Peter. However he did not offer an optional tour to the hot springs as per your website. When asked he said it was not part of this tour. Very disappointed in that but the tour was worthwhile.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Hi Jeffrey
Thank you for your review, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour. Regarding the optional stop. We need to have the tickets to forest lagoon optional add on as a pre booked experience in order to add it on. The Forest Lagoon is very popular and reservation is necessary on the busy days with a cruise ship in port.
Best regards
