Staff and guides were incredible! The experience was fine. Not fantastic but not terrible either. My 6 year old had a blast. This excursion is listed as wheel chair accessible and I would say that is a stretch. One of our family members has to travel in a motorized scooter and the transportation provided was not handicap accessible. My husband had to disassemble the scooter several times for each van/ bus transfer. The staff recognized the struggle and were extremely helpful! The staff and guide made this trip worthwhile!

Kevin was an excellent tour guide. The mushers camp was a really neat “town”. We panned for gold (got several flakes) and listened to the history of the Iditarod. We also got some time to hold several baby sled dogs. It was a fun day.

The operator never showed up. When I contacted them to find out what happened, they said they didn’t operate a tour at that time but if we waited they would be having one shortly. The problem was, we had another tour later in the day so starting this one at a later time was not possible. It was disappointing because we just booked a time they themselves had available, so if that had changed or wasn’t right, they could have let us know instead of not showing up. We could have done something different with our time. We also had to contact Viator for a refund when we returned. They should have just refunded it automatically. Giving two stars because they were responsive and friendly, but not respectful of customers’ time. We may never go back to Alaska so we can never get that time back that we had set aside for their tour when we could have booked or planned something different instead.

Great tour with Max with AlaskaX. A family of 11 ages 6 to 67 thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Learned about Alaskan sled dogs and had plenty of time to hold and pet the puppies. Then more fun with gold panning. Highly recommend this tour!
