Top Richmond How to Get Around in 2026

Richmond’s past does not sit neatly behind museum glass. In Church Hill, it rises from river overlooks, burial grounds, preserved homes, literary landmarks, and a sealed railroad tunnel still hidden beneath the neighborhood. This family friendly tour brings those layers together, connecting Richmond’s fires, funerals, Poe connections, early homes, and the Church Hill Tunnel disaster with the ghost stories and folklore that followed. More than a ghost tour, this experience offers a deeper look at how Richmond has grown directly over the places where its history unfolded. It is a haunted history walk that shows how the city’s streets, parks, and neighborhoods were built upon layers of stories that refuse to be forgotten.

Beneath the opulent veneers of Richmond's gilded age architecture and the day-to-day life of academia, bubble tales of chilling haunts, macabre murders, and bizarre paranormal activity. Join us for a spooky stroll around the Monroe Park campus as we explore stories that are often left out of your typical college brochures. Cloaked in the shadows of the beautiful and historic neighborhood, this tour includes the following spirited tales: The grim history of Monroe Park that lies hidden under the well-tended landscape of today, a hospital-turned-student dorm that still houses the spirits of long-departed patients, the ghosts of a landmark theater, and more... Your Guide will share with you the history of the neighborhood, and how it relates to the tales of the mysterious and tragic things that have led to numerous reports of paranormal activity along the tour route.
