One day in Istanbul

We had one day in Istanbul and were lucky enough to get an excellent guide in Sabit. His knowledge of all the major sites ( Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and palace) was terrific. He provided historical context and pointed out many features we would not have known without his expert guidance. It was a full day of touring and we were tired at the end but can’t believe we were able to see all the major attractions in so much detail. Great lunch also. Sabit’s friendly attitude and impressive knowledge of each site made this one of the best private tours we have ever taken. Highly recommend this tour guide.

Truly magnificent experience

We booked the Best of Istanbul Private Walking Tour not really knowing what to expect. I can honestly say it's one of the best experiences we've ever had and I think this had everything to do with Yagmur, our guide. Yagmur is extremely friendly, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about pretty much everything Istanbul! We went to the Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Turkish & Islamic Arts Museum and the Grand Bazaar. Not only were these major attractions amazing, but the depth of knowledge and story telling of Yagmur throughout this 6+ hour experience was truly magnificent. I could not recommend her any more highly.

I will do it again!

Phenomenal! As of August 2026, there are 150 balloons that go up at a time. That's a lot to choose from as a customer. I'm glad I made this choice because it was a bucketlist experience at a fantastic price! They pick you up exactly when they say they're going to, you are one of the first balloons up in the air, and the pilot is exceptionally skilled! You will have one of the better balloon rides. There are several takeoff locations, but this is the one that takes you through the fairy chimneys and gives you the opportunity to watch the sunrise. This is important to consider when booking a balloon ride. Location and time. I have read a couple reviews where people complain that the flight was canceled. It is important to understand that this is governed through legislation and aviation. You do not want to be up in a balloon when it's windy! This company takes that very seriously and follows the law. If it is canceled, they will try and book you for the following day.

Excellent Tour!

Our tour guide, “Go”, provided us with an amazing day! He has an impressive knowledge of the entire region’s historical, religious, cultural, and political background. Our driver, Ahmed, was polite and safe. The sites are impressive and moving. (Side note: we didn’t care to see the rug school; however, we are SO HAPPY that we did! It ended up being another highlight of our day. We left there with a new appreciation for the skill and art that make Turkish rugs. They are beautiful…we almost bought one!)

Perfect tour to Ephesus!!

Perfect experience to the Ancient City of Ephesus, Temple of Artemis and a Rug gallery. Our guide Filiz was fantastic. Her knowledge and passion for the history of this amazing place and country were well received. This is a lovely small group tour and the passenger van and driver were fabulous. It was the perfect amount of time of 4 hours. We were never rushed and saw everything we wanted and needed to. Left plenty of time to shop in the market afterwards before boarding the ship.

Wonderful tour. Furkan was an excellent, knowledgeable guide who shared the history of this fascinating city. We especially enjoyed hearing about the history of Hagia Sophia. Convenient, central meeting place in Sultanahmet Square, no waiting in lines, small group and asking questions was encouraged. Informative tour, would definitely recommend.

Breathtaking and magical experience—flawless from start to finish!

This was a fantastic overall experience and a absolute must-do in Cappadocia! The entire tour was incredibly well-organized. They took care of everything seamlessly, picking us up directly from our hotel and dropping us back off afterward without any hassle.Before the flight, they provided a nice setup of light snacks, including pastries, coffee, juices, and tea, which was perfect for the early morning. The flight itself was spectacular. Our captain was excellent—skilled, professional, and highly reassuring. The views from the basket were breathtaking and truly magical as the sun rose over the valleys.After we landed, they celebrated with a traditional champagne toast and handed out certificates and medals, which made for a wonderful souvenir. I highly recommend Turquaz Balloons for anyone looking for a perfect balloon flight!

A must do experience. Great value, beautiful and entertaining.

This trip exceeded my expectations… Yes, it's touristy, but it's absolutely wonderful to see the boss for us at night. The entertainment did not stop Dervis dancers. Belly dancers boat dancers, beautiful Turkish music done by an old boy band. It was the highlight of the trip and the price was very reasonable.

Worth every penny!

So if you do your research you will see no shortage of balloon companies operating in the Cappadocia region, many at a cheaper rate than here. However, after doing my research, Discovery is one of the top companies in the region for a reason, their service from pickup to drop off is top tier. Plus, something like this is not the place to skimp on costs. We were picked up on time, shuttled to their nearby office where they have a nice breakfast spread and take the time to inform you details of the experience. From there they shuttle you to the launch location where you get to witness the prep and inflation of your balloon and all the others nearby. We quickly load into the basket and take off into a surreal hour of breathtaking beauty that words and pictures cannot adequately begin to describe. Our pilot, Alper and his team were super pros, as Discovery pilots and crew are held to a high standard in regard to their training and background. I don’t even like heights and was honestly nervous for this moment, but the feeling of weightlessness and stability you feel in the balloons is so strangely wonderful. No one in our basket was afraid, and everyone was having the time of their lives! After a too quick hour, you land and they have a champagne toast for all the riders and even provide you with cute certificates as souvenirs. It was so great I wanted to do it all over again when it was over. Cannot recommend enough! Spend the money for peace of mind.

Great cultural sites to view but be weary of construction and crowds

Great experience and tour guide who was always visible and made sure the entire group was accounted for (trust me when you have that many tourists and tour groups it can be very overwhelming in popular cultural attractions such as Blue and Hagia. One thing I did not expect his how much repair/construction going on inside and around both mosques and how much of the internal structures were off limits (which I totally get as they are active worship sites for people who actually live there). Crowd can be overwhelming and have a negative impact on all facets of the experience
