Very well organised, pick up and drop off in Istanbul went smoothly. We definitely scored the jackpot with our tour guide, Burak, he was amazing. His mix of knowledge and humour made the day thoroughly entertaining. It was a very moving experience and he explained it all so well. We learnt so much more and felt privileged and honoured to walk where the Anzacs did before us. Highly recommend this tour, it’s something we will never forget.

Seeing Gallipoli was fantastic but I also didn’t think they actually respected our time very well and we could have seen way more.
After lunch there was a bunch of dead time (20 minutes) then it was half an hour going towards the actual site where our chatted but he only started talking about the landings once we got to a statue (Respect to Mehmetçik Monument) where the van backed into trees so we couldn’t even see it. At that point there was 35 minutes of our guide actually talking about the landings. I asked why we were just sitting in some bushes and he kept talking for more than 10 minutes. Once he was done we had 5 minutes to see the monument before we got back into the van.
It was like that a lot where he’d talk for 10-15 minutes then give us 5-10 minutes to actually see it and it would’ve been more impactful if he’d talked more and pointed stuff out instead of giving us info and then letting us wander.
Overall I’m happy I saw what we did but it was a bummer not seeing helles or achi especially because there was definitely time for it if we’d just been moving. I don’t regret it but you could find a place that respects your time more

Dear Spencer Gibson
Thank you for your review. The tour you booked is a small group tour not a private one and we have an itinerary and a timing to follow. And we followed the same timing and itinerary on Jluy 7th as we have been doing the last 15 years. Eceabat where you have the lunch is the closest town to the ANZAC sites and it takes about only 10 15 minutes to the first spot on the tour.
The talk can not be called a chat, our guide Charlie gave the general information about the Gallipoli campaign and explained how the events started in 1915 as he always do. He stppped there to give shade for all the group members because in July the weather is too hot.
And each cemetery and monument has a unique story to tell that is why fort he next stops he gave more information and give free time to have a look around. And the duration of the free time depends on the size of the cemerety or monument. But it is definitely not 5 to 10 minutes more than that.
Helles and Achibaba is located on the southern tip of the Gallipoli peninsula and on the day tours from / to Istanbul because of timing it is not possible to get there. And on the tour itinerary we definetely do not have these 2 spots.
We recommend you to book a private tour and have a look deeply on the itinerary you book for your future bookings to have the time you need on the sites.

The experience was really wonderful. We met our guide Burek (please forgive if spelling
Incorrect) at Gallipoli and he really brought the group together and made it very easy to ask questions and discuss aspects of places
And situations. When I told him
I had an uncle whose headstone I was hoping to see he was able to find the information so quickly and this was such good news -
As an added extra he had photos and information on how he died. He was informative and fun to be around and despite
His years in the guiding role still spoke with passion and interest about the soldiers, the decisions that led to the disastrous result and
The bravery of men on both sides. The loss
of life Is still hard to comprehend all these years later . Special thanks to him for his quick find on my Uncle and leading me to the headstone. The family all loved that this happened .. The tour pick up and communication was first rate. I was not
left wondering about any details at all. Thanks again for a great tour and drive to such a special place.- for the meals and the icecream stop! I appreciate the effort you all put in and appreciate how smoothly it ran..
Cheers Margaret

Our guide was well researched and gave so much information on the campaign especially since the whole group were from Australia and NZ. He truly understood the logical sequences of the battles and the terrain and tactics used.

This tour is a wonderful experience we have been wanting to do for many years. It is solemn and emotional and also very interesting. The only real negative is the 4hrs drive to Gallipoli from Istanbul and the return 4 hrs. Not that easy especially with everyone crammed into a van filling up every seat. The operators need to be aware that this is very uncomfortable for some. We had a comfort stop on each leg and the opportunity for a meal break at this stop. At Gallipoli we were shown around by a very knowledgeable and capable guide in Cindy. The best 4hr tour we could have hoped for. She was 1st class and made the day informative, interesting all with a guide sense of humour and reverence. A very long day but worth every minute of it.

This one full day trip to the Gallipoli peninsula is very comfortable and we were back in Istanbul by 9:30. Mercedes Sprinter 15 seater vans were very comfortable The lunch was basic and tasty. The organisation and coordination of the various trips by CrowdedHouseTours was brilliant. The guide was very good and knew his stuff.

Great tour! tour was very fun and informattive! It was a long day so I would recommend packing snacks and water, though you will have breaks twice to get them at a gas station if you forget. I went when it was raining but it stopped on an off so not bad. Would recommend booking in March-October to get the best tour.

A comprehensive narrative and viewing of various different sites of landing and combat taken by the ANZACs during 1915.
The tour takes in the monuments to the Turkish forces and provides insight into the difficulties endured by both sides during the fighting.
Our guide was highly educated and provided in depth information about the number of men and women who ultimately died trying to execute a military attack that was poorly planned and even more poorly executed.
The tour underscores the friendship between the ANZACs and the Turkish people while also again highlighting the futility of war.
Beyond all this the Gallipoli peninsula is a really beautiful area and the views from the hills are spectacular.

We had a knowledgeable, passionate guide who vividly brought the action to life and dispelled previous falsehoods concerning the campaign. What we saw was excellent but they left out some quick wonderful sites to enhance the experience such as the metal trenches and statues that could have easily been included in under 20 minutes. Luckily, I had spotted it as we headed to lunch and walked back and did it on my own during our lunch break.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you for your kind review 😊 It is a park located in the town of Eceabat. We prefer to spend the time in the sites of the battlefield. It can be visited independently during the lucnh time

We loved the tour of Galipolli. Barek our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, funny and friendly. His imitation Aussie accent and sayings were hilarious. A truly enlightening tour of this significant part of Australian, New Zealand and Turkish history.
It is a very very long day. We were picked up from our hotel at 06:30am and did not return until 9:30pm.
You will get a break about 2.5 hours into the journey for about 30 minutes at a service station. When you arrive in the area you are taken for lunch at a local restaurant for about 1.5 hours. This could be cut down in time to allow you to get back to Istanbul maybe 30 minutes early. Trust me after 11 hours on a mini van you will appreciate that small bit of time back.
You get about 4 hours on the battlefields and visit so many historic sites. Only down side was our driver spoke absolutely no English and when we were picked up we had no idea where we were heading. We wrongly assumed we weee being shuttled to a coach for the long trip to Galipolli but after an hour resigned ourselves to the cramped hard seats of the Mercedes Sprinter.
Overall a great but very very long.day.

The shuttle picked us up right on time. The vehicle was very clean. The leg room isn't the best so if you have long legs I would suggest taking the aisle seat to stretch out. The front seat was also available for someone to sit in. They drive very fast with the speed limit in some sections 130km but I'm sure they were going faster.
The morning rest stop was ok with the toilets clean. The rest stop on the way home wasn't the best. We were given 20 minutes so not enough time to order in the restaurant at the petrol station so most people just bought a bag of chips. As we arrived back in Istanbul at 9.30pm after a very long day this would be our dinner. The included lunch when you arrive was ok.
The actual tour of Gallipoli was amazing. To get an understanding of the terrain and the challenging conditions that the soldiers fought in was staggering. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to provide information from all perspectives. He also helped one tour member find the particular grave of a soldier ao they could lay a poppy. I highly recommend this tour to anyone, its truly worth it.

Great tour. There was good communication with the tour company who agreed to facilitate me by picking me up near my hotel when I informed them my hotel was too far from their listed pick up points. Transport was a Mercedes minivan with a great driver " Jack " ( who was possibly a formula 1 driver in a past life 😃 ). Out tour guide Bulant was witty , very knowledgeable about the Gallipoli campaign and an all round good guy. I managed to visit all the places, cemeteries I always wanted to and although it was a long day, we were back in Instanbul shortly after 10pm. There were 2 breaks outbound, 1 as a toilet break and breakfast at the halfway point and another near the destination for lunch and where we were assigned our tour guide. There was one break on the return journey near the halfway point. The food available at the halfway point is minimal because it's more like a service station but then again nearly all the journey is out in the countryside where towns are limited and the new road system skirts around most of the towns. Overall, a very worthwhile trip especially for history enthusiasts.
