Itinerary
Get ready to discover the original Emerald City, the city of Seattle, Washington, from its inception in the 1890s. This entertaining and educational underground voyage travels beneath the streets to uncover three blocks of historic, old Pioneer Square. Explore not only the underground passageways that were built more than 120 years ago, but also the modern Pioneer Square that exists today.
Make your way to 102 Cherry Street near Pioneer Street to start your tour. Hear tales from the past, including the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle's crucial role in what would become the Klondike Gold Rush. Find out about Skid Row, a dilapidated urban area that served as the main street in Pioneer Square. And get to know the history of a group of people called the Coast Salish, the ethnically and linguistically related Indigenous peoples that first settled here.
The tour ends at Occidental Square.

- There are 3 flights of stairs, up and down each flight, throughout the one hour tour. We travel 4 blocks ( apporx. half a mile, .8k) at a leisurley pace during the one hour tour.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travellers

We liked the knowledge of the tour guide with the history of the city. And, he made the hour more fun. My whole family enjoyed it (high school + middle school kids), so I like things that get them curious about these places we travel to. And, I learned a few things that made me do some additional looking around after our tour was up.

Patti the tour guide was amazing. So much information, enjoyed all in “inside” information. The biggest eye opener was how steep in cliff’s were when Seattle was founded.

A great tour given by Dave, however there are alot of steps so take that in consideration when booking your tour if you have an issue with mobility. Dave was great and very informative. Hes been doing this for many years and has excellent knowledge & history of the area.

Our guide (Jenny?) works in education and was informative and funny. We enjoyed seeing the history of Seattle firsthand and learning about the engineering that went into creating this waterside city. Highly recommended!

I used Google Maps to get to Cherry Street from Pioneer Square. It was nice to find the place and use the restroom. I arrived early. Daniel has had a lot of experiences and was able to connect with many in the group. His voice was loud, he knew how to wait so everyone could hear him before speaking. He was funny and effective in sharing his love for the city and its history. So grateful for the opportunity to explore a different part of Seattle through this Underground City Tour.

Jen the tour guide has passion for the history of Seattle. We gave them review we did as if you have allergies or asthma , the underground tunnels may cause some issues.

Good way to learn about the old times of Seattle.
They were very nice and helpful as we were running a bit late and they accommodated us kindly and allowed us to join the next tour so we didn’t miss the intro.
The tour was informative and the guide gave us a very dramatic rundown of the city’s history
