What are people saying about Grand Canal

Gondolas ride, preceded by a short talk and VR experience about Venice, the boats and the Gondalieres.
This was a great experience with some history of Venice and also the Gondolas. It was a little strange meeting up at the Venice Tours shop which is not by a canal. Don't be put off. Part of the history was delivered by virtual reality goggles. It was great to be on a Gondola cruising along some small canals and also some on the Grand Canal. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. On a Gondola and some history and context.

Selena was an excellent...
Selena was an excellent and very friendly tour guide. She ensured we had a great view of the Grand Canal and the glass blowing was great to see.

Gondola ride not worth it
This tour was like being a sheep led blindly. The talking, walking tour guide was good, entertaining and informative, but the gondola ride was boring. No information from the person who commanded the boat about what you were seeing or where you were going. The boat captains just spoke to each other. I'd never do it again.

Great private tour!
The tour was great! Giovanni was very personable and friendly. He knew a lot about the town, answered all of our questions. Easy and worry-free.

Venice
Gondola floating along the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy.
  • Most Grand Canal gondola rides begin or end in St. Mark’s Square, home to St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) and Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale), and include a few picturesque minor canals along the way.

  • As one of the most popular destinations in Italy, Venice can get extremely crowded. To avoid a long wait at the motor launch, book your tour tickets in advance.

  • The palaces along the Grand Canal have architectural styles that span from the Byzantine to the Renaissance periods, and are best appreciated with an expert tour guide who can explain their history and importance.

  • Note that Venice and the Grand Canal feature a great number of bridges, many of which are not wheelchair accessible.
