Itinerary

Spend a day in 'La Serenissima,' the city of bridges and canals, on this action-packed guided day trip to Venice from Milan. After meeting with your host in the center of Milan, hop in a comfortable coach for the 2.5-hour ride. During the journey, learn about the history of Venice or just gaze out the window at the Northern Italian countryside.

Arrive in Venice and get ready for an informative guided 2-hour walking tour. Amble over bridges and along canals. Stand in front of Renaissance palaces and learn their history. Take in the aromas of delicious Venetian fare wafting out of restaurants. Stroll along Riva degli Schiavoni, one of the city's main promenades, and then pass by the legendary Bridge of Sighs connected to the Doge's Palace. Let your guide regale you with tales of the doges of centuries past, as you perambulate into St. Mark's Square.

Stop for some photos in the pigeon-filled square. Stand in front of St. Mark's Basilica, noting its intricate facade. And don't forget to gaze up at the bell tower, a symbol of Venice. Then make your way through the narrow streets again, going over the famed Rialto Bridge, continuing along the Grand Canal to admire the grand mansions that flank the canal.

Visit some lesser-known hidden gems in Venice too! Explore the calli, a maze-like warren of narrow lanes and canals and learn about what life is like here for locals.

Take a break for lunch (at own expense) and then visit a glass-making workshop near St. Marks Square to witness skilled glassmakers plying their trade. After browsing in the gift shop and considering taking a souvenir back to Milan with you, head out on the narrow streets again, making your way for the optional 30-minute gondola ride (at your own expense) through the canals of the city. If you opt for the gondola, hop on the flat-bottomed boat, sit back and enjoy the only-in-Venice ambience.

When the time comes, return to your coach and begin the journey back to Milan.

Venice is a must do trip in Milan highly recommend! Only thing is the tour guide wasn't friendly, chastised people when they asked questions on meeting point and time. He also walked too fast without a flag. Trip was awesome - tour guide was 😖

Will not pick this tour for any of my guest in future.

NOUSHAD_A, Jul 2026
As per my guest, the tour was a with an unprofessional guide. The supplier refused to give guides contact and guest finally missed the bus and had to buy new train tickets to return to Milan. we being the agent got call from supplier when it was 3 minutes left and our guest was unable to reach out to guide as supplier was hesitant to share guides contact number. Overall, the excursion was of a poor quality as per my guest.

Great tour during Carnival.

Steven_K, Feb 2026
Great experience and we went on the day of Carnival. Even the Tour Guide said it was the most people he has ever seen in Venice. Buy the plastic boots to cover your shoes, as there will be flooding in many areas, especially St. Marks square. Gondola rides were fun but too short. Long bus ride from Milan. Edie was a good guide and Shepard considering the mass of people. Do this tour when there are no festivals.

A must do during your stay in Milan

John_M, Feb 2026
It was a wonderful day trip Venice. The city is a must see with so many little areas to explore. Eddie was a wonderful and passionate guide. The free time allowed for the opportunity to explore the wonderful restaurants, shops, and cafes of Venice.

Mario was incredible!

Alexis_R, Nov 2025
Incredible experience. We had Mario as our guide and he was such a gem! I traveled with my son and felt safe the entire time. Mario have extremely clear instructions along with a map for meeting points & times. 10/10 recommend!

A day in Venice. Loved it but a few things could be done better.

Even the rain couldn’t ruin this experience of Venice. Being picked up at our hotel was really good. Who wants to wonder around a strange city at 6 in the morning trying to get to the right place. We were picked up right at six then dropped off but didn’t know what to do. Nobody else was there. Others started to arrive but no representative from the tour company. Buses arrived but the drivers told us to wait and shut the doors. So we stood outside in the rain. Once the tour person arrived things were organized but perhaps someone needs to be there when people are actually arriving. The tour person who came with us to Venice was very good. She pointed different things out to us. She even gave us her personal number just in case there were any problems. The tour person in Venice was knowledgeable but sometimes hard to keep up with. We needed more time to look and take pictures but she would rush off. Our radios were losing the connection with her and sometimes it was difficult to find her. (The thing she held was not as high as the ones we saw being held up by other tour guides. That added to the difficulty of finding her.). We were told we were lucky it was not as crowded as usual. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to stay together if the normal crowds were there. The guided part ended with the glass factory. By the time we exited she was gone and we were on our own. Being on our own was expected but she was gone before we could even tip her. The first person took over when it was time to return to Milan. It was easy to start off with our hotel pickup but there weren’t any options that could be prearranged to get us back to our hotels. She gave us general directions to the Metro and a taxi stand but it was dark and raining and we were on our own. We never used the Metro and we’re on our phones trying to figure out the.pros and cons of taxis versus Ubers. Also in Milan you can’t flag taxis. But we wanted to tip her and in the confusion at the end we never did. (Probably shouldn’t have given people the option to leave by the back door of the bus.) But loved Venice! The tour people know their stuff. Just a few things could have been better. They do this all the time, but we don’t.

Average trip.

Nami_L, Oct 2025
Long drive 4 hours to Venice and 4 hours back. The guide doesn't even bother to introduce himself. For such a long drive he could talk a little bit about Italy history and point out certain interesting buildings or area as we pass by Milan and Bergamo. Felt like such an easy job for him to get everyone on bus, talk a little about Venice, and walk us through the area a little bit. No what I expected after joining so many different tours. As for Venice, no as exciting. It may be cheaper to just buy a high-speed ticket to Venice and self tour.

Too Far, Not Worth It

Dalyce_C, Oct 2025
Venice is just too far from Milan to make for a good day trip. 3.5-4 hrs each way (necessary stop mid-way) makes for a very long day. On arrival there is time for a bit of history and information (our guide was good) but not to actually tour inside of anything. And the optional gondola ride was a complete rip off - though that likely more on the gondola guys than on Viator but a better explanation of what spending 30 euros per person gets you certainly would have been appropriate. It turned out to be a 15 min ride of what on the canals amounted to a turn around the block with nothing particularly interesting to see. Give this one a pass!

Venice is beautiful. I could not walk due to an injury so I didn't see a lot but I have been there before

Fun day trip!

Melissa_R, Sep 2025
We enjoyed getting to hear about the history of Venice, the live glass blowing and taking the optional gondola ride. However, don't eat any food in the main square as the birds snatched our lunch within seconds of walking into the square. We went on a chilly, rainy day but it was still beautiful. Our guide was friendly and helpful.

Terria_B, Aug 2025
My husband and I did while on our honeymoon. This was the absolute best part of our Italy trip. We were picked up in Style from our hotel. The bus ride was nice and our guide was absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable! Venice was more than what we imagined. We bused and boated to get there and it was great. We enjoyed the guided tour. Then had the glass blowing class. Afterwards we did the gondola ride (An absolute must while in Venice). We even had time to enjoy the Venice on our own. Not only would I highly recommend but my husband and I plan to do this again! If you're thinking about it just do it! It's worth it!

The tour is great, you will have the full Venice experience and totally recommend doing the gondola short ride.

Great tour

Great introductory tour of Venice. Couldn’t ask for better. The tour guide was humorous and friendly. Very informative about Venice itself

Day Trip Milan to Venicr

Sean_R, Jul 2025
Tripp was very well organized. Tour leader communication was very clear love that we had time to explore Venice on our own time. Don’t miss riding in the gondola long but great day.

Midsummer in Venice

Carina_M, Jun 2025
As a group of coworkers, we enjoyed the trip to Venezia thoroughly. It is a fairly long drive from Milan, and our guide advised us to rest as it was going to be hot in Venice... and it was! Hat and water is essential. Our guide provided us with interesting information during the guided tour which included some local gossip about a big upcoming wedding. We opted to do the optional gondola ride and this was efficiently arranged through our guide. The day trip was well worth it, and the guide was excellent. 5 star experience!

Venice reviewi

Sahl_B, Jun 2025
They instructed us to not eat or drink anything in the bus during the traveling for 4 hours, once arrived to venice they took small and tight boat, then the tour was very boring, they didn’t give us enough time to go around the city and the glass factory was boring and it was like marketing for the place, we wanted to leave and they insisted us to stay for more than hour!! The Group leader maurizzio took the gandola money without riding it, we lost and couldn’t find them. Then he said i can’t get your money back!! It’s a very bad experience try another option

Had a wonderful trip to Venice today. Great introduction to Venice! Air conditioned buses to and from Milan made the trip a very pleasant experience. Tour guides were very knowledgable.

Waste of money and time

Mitra_L, Jun 2025
I have done many tours with Viator in many countries over the years and this was probably one of the worst ones and quite honestly there weren’t any other tours that I would rate below 4 stars. This tour was poorly organized with bad time management. The only positive thing was the very knowledgeable local guide that we spent about an hour or so with her. The rest was waste of time. It was so rushed that we even didn’t get a chance to eat or do shopping. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We would have been better off taking the train for about 30 euros and would have much more time to spend in Venice. Not worth the money we paid.

Good trip but…

Guido_G, May 2025
I think the logistics should be analyzed, I felt on a rush all the time. Especially if you are traveling with small children and the accessories needed (stroller, backpack, etc.), some empathy is appreciated. We enjoyed the trip, but a slower pace in general should be considered.

Extremely Bad

GHADA_E, May 2025
Extremely bad trip. The pick up from the hotel was so early, the minivan driver dropped us at the meeting point at 6:25 am. We had to wait in the street for 30 minutes under the rain till the guide and the bus came. The guide was so bad. Her English language level was not as good as it should be as a tourist guide. I couldn’t understand most of her speech and when I asked for clarification she just repeat what she said before as tape record without any explanation or clarification. The audio devices was not working. At Venice I couldn’t hear anything from the local guide, she was short carrying no flag to follow so I got lost from the group in the crowded city. After I found the group again and after I missed many things I decided to leave the group and wonder in the city on my own using google maps and information. The gondola trip was so bad, the guide asked as for 25 euros each and finally we got 25 minutes trip in the gondola in small canals with polluted water that smells awful. For the bad organization I don’t recommend this trip to anyone.

Memorable trip to Venice

Viola_C, May 2025
Its a long busride from milan to venice but still, very do-able. A great trip. Information alongbthe way was very insightful.

Venice was a beautiful experience

Helen_G, Dec 2024
I was able to take great pictures. The weather was great. I took a gondola tour. It's cheaper through the public bus area. $35 for an hour.

what happened here???

Johannes_d, Oct 2024
How many words can I write to describe my experience with the organization ZANI (VIATOR MILAN). We had to be outside our apartment building at 6 am where the bus would pick us up. We were outside at 5:55 am, it was raining, and we waited until about 6:15 am and then decided, since the street was a one-way street, to wait for the bus by walking towards the entrance of the street. At 6:39 am I sent a message via WhatsApp where the bus was. The answer was that the driver was in our street and did not find us. Now, we were the only people in the street as a couple. I then called and they told me that no bus had passed by but a VAN. Indeed, a black VAN with tinted windows passed us in the street, the driver looked at us and drove on. We are a mixed couple and I dare say that there is quite a bit of racism among the residents of Milan. Personal experiences. There was contact through our own initiative, but no one even gave a signal. We traveled to Venice by train at our own expense.

Good

Katie_G, Oct 2024
Take euros to pay for the gondola. Ferry and travel details made easy with the tour. Glass blowing tour was a good add. Not much time to wander but still worth the day to see.

It is better to do the tour including one day in a hotel

Enrique_B, Oct 2024
The service from the tour provider was excelent. The only problem was a delate in the route from Milan to Venice due to some maintenance on the road. In addition, the tour was on sunday and there was too much people, in addition, there was high level of water on Venice and it was difficult to walk through the city. I like Venice and Viator service, however I suggest to do the tour staying in the city at least one day.

Excellent
