Our whale watching trip with San Juan Safaris was exceptional. Captain Gabe and the MV Sea Lion took great care of all the passengers and our onboard naturalist, Olivia, kept us entertained and educated about all the wildlif we did (and didn't) see. We saw harbor porpoises galore, a number of bald eagles and harbor seals (rock sausages) too. The highlights of the expedition were watching a Steller Sea Lion tease some surrounding gulls with his catch du jour, and then getting to see two family groups of Orcas traversing the Haro Strait. Truly an unforgettable day!

My husband & I came on this whale watching as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration week. The crew was fun & friendly! They worked hard to find us whales & when they found them...wow! What a thrill!!! Sooo grateful for such a memorable trip & orca whales sitings of a pod of 7 that swam right next to our boat, out of nowhere! Thrilling!!! Thanks crew!

It is so fun to be out discovering marine wildlife. We saw 3 types of Whales-minke, humpback and Finback. We saw multiple pods of dolphins and they jumped and swam by our boat. We saw pelicans, sea lions and other flocks of birds. Staff were awesome and pointed out wildlife. I’d go again and highly recommend trip.

Awesome tour! Great deck hand and saw lots of dolphins both far away & close up! We were lucky to be on a less crowded tour where we had lots of room to move around and talk to the staff! It was also a beautiful sunset cruise! We’ve done a few dolphin tours and I think this one was my favorite!

We had a perfect experience with the crew of the quicksilver. Although very late in the season we were able to see mothers and their calfs thanks to the captain. Awesome experience. We are first timers in Hawaii and our dream to see the humpback whales came true. The crew of the quicksilver was knowledgeable and fantastic. We highly recommend this provider.

Celebrating my 50th birthday out on the water with my mom was already special—but this whale watching tour took it to a whole different level. From the moment we set out, the views were unreal… calm water, mountain backdrops, and that fresh ocean air that just hits different. It felt peaceful and exciting at the same time, like something amazing could happen at any second—and it absolutely did. We didn’t just see wildlife… we witnessed nature in action. A full-on seal hunt happening right in front of us (yes, National Geographic vibes 😳), followed by a bald eagle swooping down and snatching up scraps like it owned the place. It was one of those “did that really just happen?!” moments you replay in your head over and over. The crew was knowledgeable, fun, and clearly passionate—they made sure everyone saw everything and understood what was happening without over-talking the experience. If you’re even thinking about booking a whale watching tour—do it. And if you can bring someone special with you? Even better. Core memory officially unlocked.

Justin "Captain" was very kind and welcoming. His mate who is also a CG certified Captain was amazing. She served cold drinks and took care of all the dolphin watchers. Their knowledge of the waters, wildlife, and historical area are immense. Justin kept us positioned to have a perfect up close view of two different types of Dolphin. He also did a great job navigating other boats like the shrimp boat "Lisa Suzanne". That was an interesting part of the trip learning about the seafood industry in the area. Great job captain and crew. If you are looking for an excellent way to watch the beautiful HHI sunset, this is the one. DO IT! Jim G
