What are people saying about Mt. Etna (Monte Etna)

Enjoyable experience
The tour was great and very well organized. Our guide Pepe was knowledgeable and friendly, and we really enjoyed learning about the area. Unfortunately, due to heavy snow, we weren’t able to climb Mt. Etna as planned, but this was for safety reasons and understandable. Taormina village was absolutely beautiful and made the day very worthwhile. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and still highly recommended.

Great Day in Etna!
This was a great day in the Mt. Etna area! Two great wineries and lots of Mt. Etna history. Beautiful overlooks and views! Our guide Alana was so much fun and really helped us appreciate the majesty of Sicily.

Etna sunset trip
The trip was very enjoyable. There was much less walking than I expected, but the descent into the lava tube was not suitable for anyone with bad knees! Our guide was very pleasant, but she didn’t understand or answer questions in English, which was a bit of a problem. With these caveats I would recommend this trip.

A great day with Paolo at Etna
Paolo was very good. Safe driving in Sicily, very knowledgeable about Etna as a local, and friendly to talk about many facets of Sicilian culture. I would highly recommend him.

  • If you’re exploring Mount Etna on foot, be sure to wear appropriate shoes, a hat, and sunblock, and carry ample water.

  • You’ll want to capture the breathtaking sunset views; don’t forget your camera.

  • For kids, a visit to the volcano can be a welcome break from sightseeing, so consider a family-friendly hike or fun 4x4 tour.

  • The cable car stations are accessible to wheelchair users, as is one mountain trail.

  • There is only one public bus daily from Catania to Mount Etna, so it’s best to visit on a private tour that includes transportation to the mountain.

  • If you plan on visiting on your own, consider buying your Mt. Etna (Monte Etna) tickets for the cable car online so you don’t have to queue in line.
