Most memorable experience of my trip!
A remarkable Etna tour: walking among dramatic recent craters and real volcanic terrain was unforgettable. Our guide was exceptionally good, attentive and thoughtful, and paid particular attention to my safety as we hiked up the south side of the volcano. A delicious tasting at a beautiful local enoteca with a shop full of amazing local produce completed an excursion I will never forget.

A great day trip
A great day. The walk on Etna was a bit of a challenge in part but our guide Itala was fantastic. She helped me down some steep slopes and paced the walk well considering her participants safety and skills. She was also a great driver. Two hours in Taormina was enough time to see a couple of the sites.

Enjoyable experience
The tour was great and very well organized. Our guide Pepe was knowledgeable and friendly, and we really enjoyed learning about the area. Unfortunately, due to heavy snow, we weren’t able to climb Mt. Etna as planned, but this was for safety reasons and understandable. Taormina village was absolutely beautiful and made the day very worthwhile. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and still highly recommended.

Wonderful experience
It is definitely chilly at the top. Trousers, jacket, and closed toe shoes are a must. It’s not so much cold as it was windy causing a chill. Lots of uneven surfaces with sloppy loss pebbles.

Best excursion ever, history and wine and great food
We booked as a shore excursion and couldn’t be happier. Elena was a fantastic tour guide and took us to several places that large tours would never see. Went to 2 wineries and had amazing wine and food as well. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Mt. Etna Jeep Tour
Our family booked this trip when we arrived in Sicily. It was a great choice and we had the best guide, Alessandro! He was amazing and made the day exceptional !!

A jewel of an expedition — not to be missed!
Nando was an amazing tour guide with tremendous passion for Etna and the region. We not only got to walk some of the craters on Etna and go into an old lava tube - Nando made an extra stop on the way home so we could look back at the volcano to see the lava flowing. Amazing!!

Great option for a low impact and fun Etna experience
Fun tour with local information, wine tasting and a short walk up an old crater. Pick up and drop off from hotel was very convenient. Our driver Alex and guide Alessandro were great. When a storm rolled in Alessandro guided is off the crater and got us off Etna quickly and safely. Highly recommend

Recommend this tour for anyone interested in Etna
We left Catania around 8am and was back right on schedule at 2pm. Francesco was our guide and he was very good. Started at a stop where he outlined Enta and the various major craters and how volancos are made. Was very interesting and was an amazing view. We spent about 2hrs hiking around and seeing lava flows from early 2000 as well as up a crater to get a great view. Would recommend this tour - be ready to hike and bring some water. Thanks Francesco!

Fascinating view of Mt...
Fascinating view of Mt Etna! Massimo did a great job personalizing our trip since my group wanted a shorter hike. Our favorite part was the the Alacantara Gorge. Recommend wearing. Bathing suit under your clothes and good walking shoes and bring water shoes.

When to visit

If you’re exploring Mount Etna on foot, be sure to wear appropriate shoes, a hat, and sunblock, and carry ample water.
You’ll want to capture the breathtaking sunset views; don’t forget your camera.
For kids, a visit to the volcano can be a welcome break from sightseeing, so consider a family-friendly hike or fun 4x4 tour.
The cable car stations are accessible to wheelchair users, as is one mountain trail.
There is only one public bus daily from Catania to Mount Etna, so it’s best to visit on a private tour that includes transportation to the mountain.
If you plan on visiting on your own, consider buying your Mt. Etna (Monte Etna) tickets for the cable car online so you don’t have to queue in line.
