To fully understand the history and significance of Herculaneum’s frescoes, mosaics, and city ruins, it’s best to book Herculaneum Archaeological Park tours with a private guide or small group. Herculaneum is a popular attraction, so tours including skip-the-line access are recommended in summer.

As Herculaneum’s ruins are located near Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius, it’s easy to visit all three sights on a full-day tour. Several options include transportation from Naples, which is about half an hour away by car, and some add volcano hikes and vineyard lunches to the experience.

What are people saying about Rome

Great
The tour was very well organised and straightforward for the tickets for the trevi & icecream. Alessia was very knowledgeable and explained everything in interesting detail. The domus being underground was a welcome respite from the heat. And accessing the trevi afterwards was very quick and efficient

Rome 2026
Only way to view the colosseum with a guide to get the details. Finding starting location was not easy as it was just a shade spot under a tree so need to add that detail to the booking. History of the site was intriguing as was the underlying cultural reason for its existence and continued renovation

Pantheon with audio guide
Beautiful building full of very interesting history. The audio guide is very informative and totally worth adding, the experience would not have been as impactful without it, definitely add the audio guide if you want the history explained to you in depth.

Valentina’s perfect for art lovers
Valentina was a professional with loads of experience and a love of the Vatican and art. She was very helpful on the customs and rules tho folks are not much for following anymore. Too bad the sisteen chapel used to be revered now it’s just another attraction.
